Amazing hot pot place! My family and I visited on New Year's Day for lunch and it we really enjoyed the food :) The restaurant itself is pretty small, but is decorated to mimic a traditional Chinese street which is pretty cool. Service was fast too, although there wasn't that many people when we were there. For soup base, we got two different types--mala house special butter (little mild) and chicken soup. I personally enjoyed the mala house special butter. It does err on the spicier side of the scale, so keep that in mind when ordering! The beef, lamb, vegetables, tofu and more were all really fresh and yummy. There is a pretty wide selection of food, from seafood to red meat to tofu, vegetables and noodles. The one downside is that it is pretty expensive, but you can choose portion sizes so I would recommend getting small plates if you want to try more stuff! Overall, I really enjoyed my time here so I would recommend if you're in the area!
We came here on a Saturday before 6pm and got seated right away. The options here for sauce bar was more limited compared to other places but the section of meats were about the same. A lot of stuff that were shown on the menu were sold out so we didn't get to try a lot of it. We got the spicy broth and tomato broth. The spicy broth chongqing style was good and had a good kick to it. The tomato broth was less flavorful. I would suggest the spicy broth if you plan to come.
The spice is insane. Definitely my go-to for spicy Chinese hot pot. The restaurant is tucked away in downtown Mountain View where the streets are always alive and beautifully lit. I was surprised to find out there were two floors - first floor is also shared with Teaspoon and second floor has karaoke rooms! I've been many times and service is usually quick, but on some days (busy or slow) I've been forgotten before. They have a variety of soup bases to choose from and I usually go for half original beef spicy oil base (medium spice) and half sauerkraut fish/mustard green base. The menu included many options for hot pot toppings and they all came out fresh. The meat tastes and looks high quality. They have a sauce/snack bar (~ $3-$4 per person) which is convenient. I also found it convenient to order Teaspoon from the QR code as well and it came straight to my table. I will be back soon for sure.
The food was absolutely delicious. The broth was rich and flavorful. I especially enjoyed picking out my own combo of meats, veggies, and drinks. Ordering was super convenient -- everything is done through your phone, which made the process quick and easy I like the decor of the restaurant, it lived up to the hype as it felt I am in Asia while dining.
I've heard about this hot pot restaurant for a long time, and this is my first time trying it. I ordered the Yuan Yang hot pot. The fish maw chicken soup base costs an extra $16 and has a light flavor. The beef oil Chongqing broth was ordered with a mild spice level, which felt just right for someone who can't handle spicy food . The ingredients were all very fresh. They currently have a New Year promotion offering free shaved ice (four flavors of ice cream), which pairs perfectly with the spicy hot pot. Overall, the prices here are on the higher side.
Tried 3 Kingdoms Hot Pot in Mountain View and genuinely had a blast. On a Sunday night, the atmosphere was pleasantly quiet, though the interior still truly made it feel like you were stepping into a spot straight out of China, with two floors to explore. We went with two broths: a rich, creamy white one (probably bone broth), which was just okay, and the classic chicken broth, which honestly stole the show. It had actual chicken pieces simmering in it, giving it a deeper, more flavorful taste. Highly recommend that one. For toppings, we got the seafood platter; everything was fresh. We also added both Angus beef and Wagyu. The cuts were thin, juicy, and cooked fast. Solid portions, too. Hot pot is always fun, but the setup here makes it even better. And to end the night? Soft-serve ice cream from vending machines. It's super helpful, especially if you're brave enough to try their spiciest broth (we weren't this time). If you're looking for a fun, flavorful hot pot spot in Mountain View, this place is 100% worth checking out.
Never fails. The hotpot base is cheaper than a lot of other places (Liuyishou, Haidilao etc) but the ingredients are on the pricier side. Amenities include: sesame balls, shrimp chips, strawberry and chocolate ice cream to top off an extensive sauce bar! The staff are always super sweet and very accommodating! If coming here be sure to double check the offers for that week-- last week I got two free beers with a valid ID. There's also an upstairs karaoke room that I haven't utilized yet but hotpot plus karaoke sounds like quite the combo.
Called on a Friday night and they happened to have a table for 5 available! Overall a very authentic experience - the hot pot flavors and ingredients are exactly what you would get in China (not Americanized at all). They also had a free sauce station which included side dishes! Like chicken feet. This also means the broth is quite spicy, as in "mild" is quite spicy already. We had a great time, and everything was delicious (except the tripe was not very fresh), and we finished the meal with free soft serve ice cream!
Very exciting place to have tandem dinner and karaoke with your friends, whether it be for a celebration or just to hang out. The hotpot was very authentic, and the meats were of great quality. We got the mixed broth, and the spicy broth was very spicy (but great!) They have a very extensive menu, and all of the food was of pretty high quality and very fresh! To book a karaoke room hotpot experience, you can make a reservation while indicating as such, and you may need to pay a deposit to reserve the karaoke rooms. However, the staff was very helpful and the whole process was very seamless and smooth! There's a minimum spend for use of the karaoke room, but with a large enough group, it definitely is a steal considering that you have both hotpot and karaoke at the same time. You can also order Boba from the Teaspoon downstairs directly through their menu, and they'll send it over as well! Perfect pairing for the spicy broth. A great place to visit!
I can agree that this is one of the best hot pot places in Bay Area but I would caution about the level of spice. I think it is great for those who have a high spice because it is was still spicy with mild spicy. The level of spice they put is so flavorful and aromatic but just too spicy for me. But, I do have a low spice tolerance so maybe that's why. But my friends who came here before also agreed that it is spicy and they have a higher spice tolerance than me. I got the Jiogounger house special butter hot pot and chose mild. But perhaps next time I might choose half and half. Their meat was very good. Got their wagyu beef but I specifically liked their lamb shoulder ! It was delicious ! Very flavorful with the spices from the broth. There is a sauce station where you can make your own sauce so you have a lot to choose from. I also liked presentation of the dish and the little butter in shape of a bear or a duck or fish. Pretty cute concept. Service was amazing. The lady who took care of us was very nice and welcoming. She always had a smile even while wearing a mask. Given it was my first time, she explained everything well and gave recommendations on what pairs well with what. I also love how she told me the napkins are in the drawer which is convenient because i hate having to ask the servers for more napkins. Overall I would recommend people to try here! We came here on a Friday night at ~7 PM and the wait was around 30 minutes. However, there are a variety of other stores in the downtown area that you can check out nearby while waiting. The place has a very nice traditional Chinese vibe with its red decor and it makes you feel like you're in China! Once seated, our server explained how to order from the QR code as well as getting sauces/snacks/utensils. There are variety of broths, meats, and vegetables that you can choose from but the portion sizes here are also very big so make sure to not order too much like we did. We ordered the Jiugongge House Special Butter Broth as well a variety of meats, seafood, and vegetables. The broth came out in nice presentation and had a crafted giant butter that you drop into the broth. Even though we chose the lowest spice level, the broth was still pretty spicy. My friend has a high spice tolerance and he even agreed that it was very spicy. However, the meats, seafood, and vegetables were good and tasted very fresh! They also have free ice cream which definitely helped with our numbing taste buds. Overall, I really enjoyed the food quality and service but would order less food next time and get a different broth.
Had dinner here on a weekend. There was no wait around 5:30pm but around 6:30pm place started to get crowded. Place is traditionally decorated with red interior. There were a decent amount of tables and overall spacious. Sauce/snack bar had your standard typically stuff and includes sesame balls and ice cream! You order from a QR code and food comes out pretty fast. Meat quality was good and overall everything tasted authentic.

This place opened up during the pandemic, but it is popular! I came on a Friday evening and the outdoor seating was practically all full. Soon after my husband and I were seated, we heard that the subsequent wait time was nearly an hour! If you'd like to try this place, make sure to come earlier on weekends or call ahead of time to make reservations. // H O W T O O R D E R Scan the QR code with your phone to view the menu and place your order. || Soup Besides the more fancy/complex soup options, you can either choose just one soup base or select the half & half option (one non-spicy and one spicy). Non-spicy options: - Pork & Chicken - Tomato - Mushroom - Water Spicy options: - Butter - Oil || Sides - Bottomless dipping sauces: Customers are automatically charged for the dipping sauces which include green onions, cilantro, garlic, sesame oil, and a somewhat bland peanut or sesame sauce (couldn't exactly tell and the servers didn't explain). - Everything else on the menu: They had a pretty decent selection of accompanying sides like beef, lamb, pork, seafood, vegetables, tofu, etc. // M Y E X P E R I E N C E || Soup We chose half & half and got the pork & chicken + the butter spicy soup bases. I HIGHLY recommend the pork & chicken base. This comes with a slightly milky looking broth, a few pieces of meat, goji berries, and jujubes! The broth itself was extremely flavorful and the accompanying meat pieces were very tender and delicious. I LOVED this soup and didn't really need any of the dipping sauces after I cooked things in this broth. On the other hand, the spicy soup base was a bit confusing. We thought we ordered the butter spicy option, but we still got something that looked like a huge vat of spicy oil (not sure if this was a mistake or not). As a fair warning though, do not expect the spicy option to be a broth - it's really more of a pot of oil filled with chili and A LOT of peppercorns. Tip - You can cook the food in the non-spicy broth and dip it in the spicy oil base afterwards. This gives the food a good amount of spice. If you fully cook the food in the spicy oil base, just be aware that the numbing spice definitely builds up. || Sides We ordered the beef lamb combo, napa cabbage, fish ball with roe, and one bowl of rice. The meat was actually pretty good quality, the vegetables were pretty fresh, and the fish balls were standard. // P R I C E Overall, this place is EXPENSIVE. For the soup bases and the four side dishes, the total came out to be around $55 before tax and tip. Both my husband and I were still hungry but we didn't think it was worth it to order anything else. We actually went to McDonalds afterwards to get fries, a sandwich, and some desserts. Note: I don't typically go to hotpot restaurants so maybe these high prices are to be expected. // O T H E R - Decent customer service but nothing notable - Heat lamps are available for outdoor seating - The table we sat at was an awkward size / height so I had to stand every time I wanted to reach the pot (not the most convenient eating experience) - BEWARE: you and your clothes will SMELL after eating this; make sure to wear things that are easy to wash // O V E R A L L I was wavering between giving this place a 3 or 4, but I eventually went with a 3. The deciding factor was that I don't think I'd come back. I do really appreciate how this is an authentic Chinese hotpot place with pretty good quality ingredients, but unfortunately I think the prices are way too high. Tried additional things this time. Night time service is a bit rushed as we were asked about the broth selection before we even got the menu. They also won't seat you until all parties have arrived and they don't take reservations. Tried 2 kinds of tripes, natural and crispy. The natural one is too gamey for me, heard it's better in spicy broth to cover up the smell. Not a fan at all. The duck blood is good, fish is fresh, the tender beef is good as always. Tried the dessert which is a sweet clear jello that comes with crushed peanuts and cranberry slices. Tasted good and comes in good portions. They have 2 stories and the second floor even has karaoke room, plenty of seating. Bathrooms are clean. Overall good experience. Finally had a chance to try the new hot pot place on Castro. Three Kingdoms took the place of Han Gen (traditional Chinese restaurant) at this location. Their downstairs area is shared with Teaspoon and when you dine at Three Kingdoms, you can order directly from Teaspoon on their menu to be delivered to your table. Overall we weren't super impressed with the service or the price for the quality/quantity of food. When we arrived, no one came to greet us and we were standing in the lobby for a while before someone eventually told us to head upstairs. Once we got there, one of the waitresses told us to sit at any table and start ordering via the QR codes. We had a few questions on the menu (their broth ordering system wasn't the easiest to understand) and it was difficult to flag down a server to ask. Pricing for food was pretty standard and the presentations were really nice but their sauce bar and overall choices felt a bit lack luster (i.e their chips at the sauce bar were stale and the sesame sauce was too thin and oily without much flavor). Their spicy broth was way too much for us even despite us ordering the least mild but that isn't on the restaurant, just moreso our tastes - this is about on par with standard Sichuan numbing hot pot. Our experience was alright but likely there are better hot pot places in the Bay. FLAVOR (3.5/5): We originally wanted their 9 grid hot pot but since we dined outside, and used a propane stove it wouldn't accommodate any of their special soup bases. We settled with a half creamy and half spicy soup base. The spicy soup base surprisingly wasn't spicy enough? There was no numbing or kick to it after the first few bites. The creamy soup base was also mild. They do have a wild selection of cuts of meats and vegetables. I would recommend going with their combos for trying the most. INSTAGRAM WORTHY (4/5): I assume if you dine in you'll get the full IG worthy experience. But a lot of their meats were plated in a unique way, whether in a tree stomp with dry ice, in a bathtub or just with flowers over ice. SERVICE (3/5): We can here early so they had a lot of going back and forth to turn on the system, ordering issues, etc. We didn't get checked up on as often because we sat outside. TAKEAWAYS: Expensive for the experience! It's a Chinese chain hot pot that is pretty authentic to what you can get at the motherland. However, not a place you want to dine outside. We brought our dog so we had to sit outside, but to get the full bang for your buck, definitely try to get a table indoors. read more

This is one of the busiest hot pot place that I visit. We chose three soups: tomato, chicken and pork and buttery hot pot. Everything is fresh and pretty decoration. The only minus is they are charging for sauce and the sauce station is not many option. However, the price is reasonable so I will come back. read more

The worst hotpot place ever, they did not tell us if there's a time limit the first place, and we ordered about 600 US dollars of food for 8 of us. However, they started to threaten us and force us to finish eating in 2 hours because they say they wanted to end early today and pay their worker for less hours. Don't get the Medium. Go for the Mild. You will thank me. See picture of how much pepper we removed and it was still super spicy! Also I am vegetarian and they call the butter "beef oil". The waiter seemed unsure at first after putting it in the hot pot and then tried to convince me it was vegetarian and the Chinese name in the menu is "beef oil", but I wasn't buying it and had them bring out another pot without it. I later found on the website itself they call it "beef butter". Unacceptable business practices. Save your money. Not as tasty as Tasty Pot or Happy Lamb just a few doors down and truly veg. read more

Visited Saturday night with party of 4. (All Chinese) Food: 1. super spicy even with the mild. All of us ends up with nonstop sneezing which is unusual. 2. food quality: not the freshest. Feel like frozen food 3. presentation is good. This is the reason why we decided to give a try Service: 1. Forget one drink for 30 mins 2. Waiting for our orders for at least 20 Mins after sitting 3. Waiters are much more attentive for those non-Asians. Price: higher than almost all other hot pot places. With that price, expect more from food/taste/service. Will not return. read more

Wow this traditional Chinese hotpot. Very very good! Warning the Mild broth is xxxx spicy! Unless you are from the region the spicy broth will blow your mind. Also the taste and smell completely different -again very traditional taste so it's delicious. I liked everything the bar with different toppings. The service is great! Located in downtown Mountain View, 3 Kingdoms Hot serves Chongqing style hot pot. The interior decor is charming and is what I'd imagine of a traditional Chinese village, with bamboo tiled roofing, painted fans adoring the wall, and red wooden tables and chairs. The service is friendly and order is pretty straight forward - they get you started off with the broth and then the rest of the ingredients can be ordered by scanning the QR code. We got the combination broth, choosing to try the mild spicy and the (non-spicy) pork and chicken broth. Honestly, the mild spicy packed more heat than I expected, so don't get too ambitious as this is Chongqing-style spice. The waiter also mentioned that they could add more spice if we wanted, so don't overdo it to begin. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the broths and enjoyed that the non-spicy broth was flavored with entire pieces of chicken and pork intestines - which were very clean tasting and not too fatty. We ordered the lamb and beef combo platter, fish balls, lotus roots, oyster mushrooms, and some udon noodles to cook in the broth. While this place isn't AYCE, the meat quality is decent and the portions (including the meat in the broth) were not bad - we were both full after spending $50/person. I'd say the main weakness here is that they charge $4.99 for the sauce bar, which isn't expansive at all. While I was there, they were also running a promotion where you could get a free spin of a wheel if you shared 3 Kingdoms on social media (Yelp check-ins count). Some of the prizes include gift cards of varying amounts and extra platters of meat, but I landed on a free milk tea which they get from the adjacent Teaspoon. Overall, a pretty good first experience, but I'll probably give some of the other hot pot spots on this street a try before visiting again. read more
This review is for their to-go order. I'm frong Chongqing and am thrilled to learn that there's an authentic Chongqing hot pot near me, so I went there and order some takeout. Let's start from the good: flavor is on point, spicy, numbing, and loads of MSG/Chicken powder(I can see in the container, which is not a bad thing, that's how Sichuan food supposed to taste, uncle Roger approved). The bad: I ordered the house special butter soup base, which technically should be beef tallow soup base, and by that it should be mostly beef tallow, and when melted, you can use the base to cook food in it. Naturally beef tallow should be solid under room temp, and it's what most of people posted on yelp, they get a cute little bear made of beef tallow and melt in the pot. HOWEVER, for the take out order, there's no beef fat inside at all, everything is liquid, and I do indeed chose the beef fat one. 2nd, I ordered crispy tripe, which is kind of special because you can't get it in normal groceries store supposedly, and from the picture they provided, it is what I wanted, but when I got the item, it's just a normal book tripe sliced into slivers. Way overpriced for something you can get cheap at the supermarket. I hope these 2 were mistakes from the kitchen and not what it was supposed to be. Otherwise i'd be disappointed and never come back. They have private room Karaoke!! Lol being used to K-town Karoake in So-cal, this place wasn't bad at all. We didn't eat dinner but you can eat dinner and Karoake (7 rooms available currently) and Ìf you meet a minimum food $, then 2 hrs of belting out your favorite songs comes free:). There are a decent selection of English songs but the touch screen video menu to find them is in Chinese. No worries, staff is super nice and will tell you which buttons to press to get to the English song selections. I really don't know where to start! This place is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! For those who love spice, hot, great meat and seafood. It's a must try. We got the half and half (Mild spicy was pretty spicy.. and I eat spice like it's nothing). We tried multiple types of meat. But I would say my favorite was the skewers and the wagyu. Their tripe platter was good, but a little chewy. I didn't order seafood this time, but next time I visit I will definitely be trying it! The dessert I'm not sure what the name is in English (冰粉 - Bingfen) is SO good. I've tried it in many locations and I would say it's one of the best I've had. I would say it is a little on the pricey side, but the quality I'm getting from it is good. Service is really good. Everyone is very attentive and always looking out. The bathroom and restaurant is very clean. What more can I ask for? Definitely will be going back! read more

Finally an authentic and modern hot pot in Mountain View! Do not come to this place if you are looking for cheap, AYCE, bland soup base hot pot. Places like little sheep is old and passé, be prepared for big bold flavor! Even the medium is quite spicy. The decor is very classic/throwback Chinese village style, with red tables and meats neatly laid out on stoneware. Inside the drawer of each table is an apron to keep yourself clean and plenty of napkins cause you'll be sweating a lot. In recent years, beef tallow Sichuan hot pot is all the rage in China. All the modern places give the tallow to you in the form of a small sculpture and this place offers a cute little bear. Another popular take is using a 9 chamber pot that allow you to organize the different ingredients with each of the different chambers, which have different temperatures so each ingredient can be cooked with the right amount of heat. 3 Kingdoms has both of these innovations! There's a DIY sauce section with lots of small snacks/dishes like spicy cucumbers, deep fried sesame balls, peanuts, etc. Only wish they had a better sauce section, there's only basic things like sesame oil, sesame paste, cilantro, soy sauce, chives, etc. One of the key to eating hot pot is the wonderful variety of texture. This place has it all - many different types tripe, goose intestines, gizzards, etc. There's also plenty of different pastes ranging from shrimp to cuttlefish. Oh and their Sichuan style crispy fried pork is solid. Service is very attentive, bathrooms are modern and clean. read more

Broth very flavorful, definitely get the spicy if you can handle it ;) Plenty of seatings downstairs and upstairs. Very extensive menu with a couple combo options too. Quality was pretty good, I enjoyed the free snack bar too. My favorite was the pork intestine, it was previously cooked (braised), had a lot of flavor to it. Everything else was good too, you can't go wrong with hot pot. The only thing I would say is that the pork brain wasn't as a whole, so when I cooked it, it basically fell apart and could barely eat it. read more

It is finally Hot Pot time! I was excited to go here and try out their authentic Chongqing hot pot. They have great outdoor seating in an open tent, the decor and furniture is very cute, a classic Chinese village style. We ordered half&half, a non-spicy and spicy soup. I love spicy foods and can handle my spice, but their spicy is VERY, VERY spicy! I had a very bad stomach ache afterwards. I think the waiter should have disclosed that. The waiters were busy even though there weren't too many guests and a little annoyed with people, especially when we asked for more drinks or anything additional to our order. This was quite disappointing given the prices you pay here. We had the beef&lamb combo, some veggies and Konjac noodles. The condiments were great, but honestly it's all about the soup. Like I said the spicy one was way too spicy and the non-spicy one was quite bland. I am disappointed as I had high hopes for this place. read more

don't been here, if you guys get here especially for the big party they over charge item, we have a party for 8 after we decide to pay, we noticed that some item we didn't order but they charge us, when we ask the lady she said you guys order. Not worthy 8 people for $800, not recommended!!!! When we call to make the reservation we said we have party for 12, but only 8 people show up. Plus the meat ball I don't know the exactly name, we didn't order, you guys bring two order for us. Please double check with your employee how many ppl show up fir our party. Honest is more important than everything! read more
