A renowned restaurant called Johnny Cace's closed a few years ago, and locals were so sad. But the remaining family members regrouped, and opened a small takeout kitchen, much to our relief! They have transformed the space into a cute café, featuring some of the most popular menu items from the much larger Johnny Cace's restaurant. The roumelaude should be its own food group. It's incredible. We love the gumbo, the shrimp étouffée, shrimp in shorts, and the smash burgers! Their famous garlic croutons are sold by huge bags for major holidays. The cheese spread and corn relish are in demand always. When they have oysters, it is worth going out of your way to go get some. We both agreed to some Soup and my husband jokingly mentioned the cake. Minutes later the manager comes back with soups and two slices of cake! SO NICE. The potato soup is amazing FYI. When our order was ready he showed us that he refunded our meal and gave us a GC for our next meal. My husband and I were so impressed with his kindness.
