I was a walk-in customer, clearly out my element, with an assortment of rusted 50-year old parts and pictures of sections of our exhaust system in our condo... Two guys were bustin balls to finish an apparent mega commercial job (with great care) and directed me to Boss Brian. And Brian stopped what he was doing to give me his full attention. Even with the parts in my hand, he chose to sketch (free hand), the entire connected system and, in five minutes, he said, "is that what you want?"
He gave me an estimated quote based on his anticipated time to fabricate three air conditioning supply set-up's and his/their hourly rate. This was on late Wednesday afternoon; he asked me how soon I wanted them completed. I was thinking "is a week reasonable," and before I could ask that dumb question, he said I'll shoot for Friday (48 hours later)! He called me at 7:58 am on Friday and said, "done; come and get 'em...
I showed up at 1pm and the quote, based on an estimated time consumption, was spot-on. This kind of craft doesn't come cheap; these guys are busy with big jobs meeting a construction boom, and frankly I don't think they need small jobs.
His guys all gave me a warm Aloha as I was leaving; one (young tall stud forklift operator) was particularly courteous and offered a nice good-day handshake. read more
