3 Cups is my local, go-to coffee provider, whether it's espresso, cortado (they use a house blend roasted by Blue Copper Coffee), or their pastries, and even gelato (which is dangerous AND delicious). I like to sit in a booth and work for a couple of hours too, even leave the option to share my booth when it gets busy. I've also done wine tasting and whiskey tasting in the evenings here, and I highly recommend their events -- they kill it. The staff is awesome, and they care A LOT about your experience and even your individual cup of coffee. And yes, they're taking time to dial in the espresso shots. Favorite things on the menu: avo toast plus soft-boiled egg. Açaí bowl. House Granola with all the extras. Gluten free things (all the things). Ok, one more thing: during COVID19, 3 Cups has been the hallmark of how to adjust and handle business with all of the extra operational overhead and precautions. My daughter and I love to ask for their frozen lavender lemonade with a scoop of matcha during the summer, and it's by far my favorite frozen drink. So when this shop first opened, I thought it was pretentious and up its own stuff. I thought it was one of those vsco girl coffee shops with açaí bowls and insta-worthy moments. Although they do have açaí bowls, I was very wrong about 3 cups. It doesn't take itself too seriously, the drinks are very good, the food is tasty (and typically healthy), and the atmosphere is laid back and unobtrusive. I really enjoy staying at 3 cups for long periods of time and reading, studying, or talking with a group of friends. I recommend their boulevard bowl and their honey badger latte. read more

About a year ago, I attended Caputo's annual chocolate festival, and 3 cups was present, serving up this otherworldly amalgamation of sipping chocolate and tea. Everything I had that night was delicious, but this stuck out as one of my favorites (it was for my bestie, too!). Ever since, I have meant to visit the actual establishment, and though they are neighbor to Caputo's Holladay location that I often frequent, it never worked out until last weekend! I stopped by around lunchtime, and it was surprisingly busy, with a mix of friends chatting, individuals working or studying, and couples sharing small meals. Yes, it is much more than simple coffee shop! They have baked goods and pastries, gelato, a variety of toasts, oatmeal, yogurt parfaits, acai bowls, and some small bites. Beyond the expected coffee and tea (and there is A LOT, with seasonal specials, or you can even add CBD to your order!), they offer bottled beverages including local Mamachari and Han's kombucha plus beer and wine. Whew! I was going to get a sipping chocolate (make note, there is a red wine version...what?!!), but then my attention was grabbed by a special: Coconut Almond Lavender Latte. Yum! Based on the description, I assumed this was a tea-based latte, but after a 5 or so minute wait, it arrived, and I found it was coffee. Boo! I don't enjoy coffee, but this was totally my fault! I gave it to my husband, and, though he isn't a "fancy" drink fan, he thought it was great! They have ADORABLE branded travel mugs, coffee making supplies, and even merch like tees and hats. The young man who took my order was very friendly, it was so clean inside, and I adored the chill community vibe of the space. I wish I remembered the nice young woman who took my takeout order this morning. She made my morning with her friendly service and she even put smiley faces on my oatmeal and steamed milk. Super cute spot in Holladay. There's been so much development in the area and it's nice to have a new coffee shop to go to. Probably a new hang out spot for me, for sure! My picture of the pear walnut crumb cake doesn't do any justice for how great it actually tastes! The drip coffee here is amazing. Everyone raves about how Publik is the best, but I personally think 3 Cups tastes better. (Shots fired if you're a Publik roasters fan). Overall, there's plenty of places to sit, drink your beverage and surf the net. Wifi is free! Parking can be difficult, but it's worth searching for one! I love 3 Cups Coffee! There is parking that is kind of hidden behind the building if you want to park closer. They have super tasty coffee and matcha! I always get their macarons - trying a different flavor every time, and all of them have been so tasty! I recently ordered their egg salad croissant and it was so delicious - I loved it so much that I ate every bit that fell onto my plate. It is also filling - so great for a full meal vs. just a snack. I didn't love the pickled side that came with it, however, I would definitely order this sandwich again! I also ordered their Lavender Matcha Latte which was so tasty. I was glad I ordered the largest size because it went quick! They also have great outdoor seating, so we were able to enjoy the nice weather. read more

Stopped by with some time to kill before a meeting and really enjoyed the space. Very bright and clean and, especially for a cafe, has a great selection of food and non-coffee beverages. I grabbed an americano and a muffin and enjoyed their large seating area while working through some emails. I will go back to this cafe in a heart-beat when I'm in the area. read more

I was running my errands and while out I am like the perfect time to stop in I finally did get a chance to catch them when they were open My experience overall As soon as you walk in you see the bar area which is a nice place to relax and enjoy the window views, looking at the mountains so that was very pleasant. The staff was friendly they answered the questions I had and made a recommendation which I decided to go with the ice Carmel coffee since they don't have blended coffees it would be nice in the future as a suggestion to offer blended coffees however the one I got was the tasty perfect amount of ice and just the right amount of Carmel. At the counter check-out process was easy they were able to do touch-less payments since the machine is right there, it was harder to hear the cashier host however I think it's because of the covid plastic sheets that are up. Speaking of covid very friendly masks required for customers and staff. They have these clear shields in front of the whole counter and also this nice little system. The bar spot is free for the first hour after that small fee, after leaving please bust your table and there is a place to put your dirty dishes on the way you walk out. They do offer other foods as well sandwiches and treats I didn't get it this time around maybe next but I am sure I'll stop in again. **** +++Not just a coffee shop ;) +++Dont stress about not finding a seat there are tons of options outside tables with propane heaters which I am sure is nice in the wintertime. TLDR: The food is truly awful. But the ambiance and the service is amazing. We had the chocolate chip cookie. Amazing. Perfection. Best thing there was! I had the spicy mocha and it was soooo spicy I couldn't drink it. We split the ham and gruyere baguette which was cold and terrible. The bread was unremarkable and dry. Also split the special toast which was ricotta and fig jam with walnuts and honey. This was TEN DOLLARS. And we both literally spit it out. And threw the whole thing away. The "toast" was warmish whole wheat? But not toasted. The fig jam was awful and tasted nothing like fig jam. The ricotta was store bought and barely existent. I would normally give this place a 1 star but it's so cute and inviting and the employees were so nice that they made up for us spending $30 on what amounted to one cookie that we liked actually ate. The hype is overrated. The place is cute, but their coffee could be better. One of our coffee orders was way too watery; so awful. They didn't have matcha on hand, only the blended one (Is this cold?). Also, the server who took our order kept "calling out" (but not shouting) orders so you didn't know who they were talking to. This has quickly become my favorite coffee shop, which is no small feat. This is why: 1. Quality coffee and a simple menu. All coffees in mugs come with a tiny coin-sized, house-made, buttery shortbread cookie - I've had a spiced one and one with little chopped apricots. Such a sweet touch. A little pricey - $2.25 for a small drip - but this place has such ambiance and quality service that I don't even hesitate. 2. House-made baked goods - I pretty much come just for these and I don't even really like sweets very much. They are the best baked goods around, always with new options, and I've never been disappointed. The oatmeal cookie with sesame seeds was buttery and a perfect mix of crispy/chewy. The fluffy brioche has the perfect amount of dark chocolate inside. And there are always options that aren't too sweet, which is nice for me. They also have gelato, oatmeal with toppings like granola and berries, acai bowls with granola and fresh fruit, and smørrebrød (crisp bread with smoked trout, green olive, caper spread and house pickles) which all sound amazing and I must try sometime. 3. Excellent service with friendly and helpful staff. They always have a recommendation about the baked goods (so helpful that they know their products!) and most of them are super friendly. Low snootiness in a nice coffee shop, which is hard to find these days. 4. Comfortable, classy, airy cafe with tons of seating and outlets. It feels restful, not stressful, to spend time here alone or meet friends. Lots of space so you don't feel too close to other patrons and I've never had to search for seats (in nice weather there is patio seating in front and in back). Clean restrooms. Downtown Holladay is fast becoming a destination I prefer away from busy downtown - there is plenty of parking and it feels like a small town main street. So cute. I get little bubbles of joy when I get an afternoon to relax in their lovely shop and see what amazing new baked goods are on display, and I always suggest to my friends that we meet here. Such a cute little spot for a quick breakfast! They have all sorts of coffee, toasts, pastries and sell beautiful flower bouquets inside! (We came on Mother's Day and it was a nice surprise to grab and take home to Mom.) There is seating in and outside and the food comes out in a timely manner. They have plenty of vegan options and pasteries on the menu! I ordered the avocado toast that comes on a thick slice of toast and has a delicious nut and oil mixture spread on top, I loved the texture and flavor the nuts added. I also tried a soy vanilla latte and it was equally as good. This is a nice spot to stop by and grab some coffee and toast while reading the morning paper. I've spent so many hours working/ studying here. It's one of the few places that I've been where you can work/ study for a few hours and not feel like a burden if you periodically get a coffee refill, snack, etc. Their nitro cold brew is excellent. Got an iced latte with an extra shot for a lovely $9 lol. I can't believe these guys actually get away with overcharging this much. It would be one thing if it was exceptionally good coffee, but it wasn't. Very watered down and sour espresso. To top it off you can't even get a straw. Stopped in for a little dessert and we were duly impressed. The gelato was excellent! In fact my husband said the pistachio was the best he has had anywhere in the world. This was my third trip to this shop and with out a doubt my last. The service is severely lacking... almost like chaos. We ordered a Latte (largest size), cortado, PB and Banana Toast, brownie, and a cookie. We finished our coffee before we could even get our food. Got the PB and Banana toast? But no brownie or cookie. Tables are ALWAYS DIRTY.... Each visit I go, the tables are never clean. Stuck in food, coffee stains, it's gross. The management of the staff is clearly evident as chaos as it always looks like the baristas have no idea what is going on. I can get a few minutes between food and drinks, but enough to finish a whole latte before you get your food. Ehh. Over all, the coffee is good. This is a great coffee shop. Their beans are from Blue Bottle (LA), Blue Copper, and La Barba beans (local). They have incredible house made pastries, and gelato too! My caramel latte was so smooth and creamy. They use actual caramel sauce, not artificial caramel syrup. Most of the high end coffee shops around Salt Lake won't even serve caramel (which is my favorite latte flavor). So I always have to get vanilla, honey, or simple syrup. Salt Lake is blessed with a great coffee scene. The coffee shop itself is spacious with a lot of seating and interesting decor. One wall is basically just a window, which leads to very nice, natural lighting (with an unfortunate few of construction across the street, but whatever.) All about what you expect from a hipster coffee bar. Unfortunately, the nitro cold brew I ordered was just... an iced coffee. I asked where the nitro was in the coffee. Where is the delicious, creamy, and foamy head typical of any nitro drink?! The barista replied, "The nitro is just running low, I promise it's in there." Confused, I sit down and take a sip. Yep, just an iced coffee. Also, who puts ice in a nitro brew? The appeal of a nitro brew is mainly to enjoy the consistency while you're sipping, and ice, straws, etcetera kind of go against that. I've never seen ice in a nitro drink! To be fair to the establishment, Girlfriend's soy latte was yummy. Both times I came here, the staff was super friendly and helpful. The drinks are delicious! I'd highly recommend trying their fall special, Maple Spice Latte with almond milk. The price was a bit steep for a Large latte, around $7.50, but definitely worth the price in my opinion. We also got a crumb cake for $3.50, and I thought it was alright, pretty light and not too sweet, it was kind of dry; for those who don't have a sweet tooth it might be perfect. Honestly, one of my favorite haunts for many years. Recently, and acknowledging the challenges of recruitment, service has gone way down hill. Expect lengthy waits pretty much any time of day just to order. Much more often recently than before, the order is consistently wrong when rung up. Perhaps worst, though, is the insane price hikes on even just a basic cup of coffee. Inflation is a viscous cycle, but with service and quality having gone down hill and prices exploding, I won't be back any time soon. read more
