3 Brothers on Rideau has been a staple of the Ottawa scene. I usually go to the 3 Bros near the uOttawa campus. From what I can tell, the prices here are a bit higher, but you have more options. Donair wraps and plates, for instance, are accessible here. Regardless, the shawarma you get is of similar good quality, and the portions you get are also substantial. I've only gone in once for takeout, so I don't have experience with dining in. However, I can say that the place is relatively small and would only be suitable for individuals and small groups. My wife got to her falafels, ate most of them then wondered what the crunchy bits were, GREEN INSECTS!! My wife puked a lot after realizing what was in them, I called 3 Brothers explained what happened, mentioned I took photos, asked for a refund. They refused and said take it up with S T D. I said you made the food, he said it would be impossible for bugs to be there and that I am lying then hung up on me. Platters come with potatoes and rice for starch along with a side of bread and hummus with a salad topped with your chooce of protein(s) or falafel. It was my first trip to Canada so poutine was a must! When I saw the Shawarma & Poutine outpost just down the street from where I was staying, I couldn't resist. Poutine? Delicious. Shawarma? Delicious. What could go wrong?! I ordered the beef poutine which is essentially freshly cooked fries topped with gravy, beef shawarma shaved right off the spit, and moist cheese curds. I got a small and it was a great portion. Perfect for my lunch although I'm sure no doctor would recommend eating the whole thing by myself in one sitting. If you'd like to go the more traditional Middle Eastern route, there was a large bar full of all sorts of toppings for a platter, wrap, and more. So I came twice in one weekend. The first time I ordered a small chicken Shawarma sandwich which was good their garlic sauce is really good go for the spicy garlic for a little extra kick and ask for garlic potatoes in your sandwich! The second time I got the vhicken poutine because I was told that's what they are known for. I got a small and I was stuffed. There portions are definitely with the price. There was less chicken in the poutine than I expected and this time, we were given a LOT of gravy. Any other day, I wouldn't complain but it masked the flavors of the chicken instead. I called to get a delivery like I usually do, and a man picked up the phone. when I asked if I could or he rudely said no and hung up on me. my friend then called to see if she'd get the same reaction. I then called to complain and the same man in question answered. he proceeded to interrupt me and try to hand up. this time I didn't let him and raised my voice. only because I felt unheard as I had questions when he said no the first time I called. I said " I want to talk to you because you keep hanging up on me ..." he then hung up on me again and muttered something under his voice as he hung up. I'm leaving this review because I have also worked in the food/delivery department and would never act like this even if something else was going on. This platter is BIG. It will serve two normal sized humans, but add a side of something if you're hungry. I had the beef shawarma platter and they are generous: with the beef (good), but also with the pickled veg (excellent), the garlic sauce (very good), and the hummus (okay). Rating should really be 3.5 stars. Just the wrap was a little over $8 and I was not full after. My friend got the small chicken shawarma wrap combo and it came to over $15?! I ate lunch here, everyday for about 6 months. I got a large shawarma salad, every time. It was amazing. This place has the best garlic AND the best poutine in town. But then... I made the shawarma salad so popular with my Co workers, that they raised the price from 10$ to $12.50. After they raised the price, they started to cheap out on meat and garlic sauce. Not a bad place if you are craving a shawarma, or a poutine. If you order a shawarma, the first thing you will notice is that the portions are huge. This is very typical for shawarma joints in this city. Their chicken shawarma is not bad. The place is busy so I've never stumbled across dry chicken. It's quite juicy. It seems to be a mixture of white and brown meat but I haven't asked them so I can't confirm this. I have never had the beef, so I don't want to comment on it. The salad is nice and fresh. When you get a shawarma you need some freshness just cause the plate itself is so heavy. Their potatoes on the other hand are my least favorite part of the plate. I find they are way too greasy. I don't know what they season the potatoes with (once I saw them mixing something that looked like grease with spices into a fresh batch of fried potatoes) but there is just so much of it. The whole bottom layer of potatoes are soaking in it. Beware if you have a sensitive stomach (like I do). Their garlic sauce packs a powerful punch. Very garlicky and salty. Overall their shawarma plate is tasty but it is very greasy and very salty. I got the chicken shawarma sandwich once and i remember it being not bad. Despite their shawarma, i do like their poutine a lot. It reminds me of a poutine I'd find in Montreal, fresh fries, squeaky cheese, nice velvety sauce. I usually ask for extra sauce since they don't put enough the first time. The sauce doesn't go down to the bottom and the bottom fries will never have sauce if you don't ask for extra. It has deteriorating since it's opening. Sometimes the place has no one there to serve.The meat seems dried out & not fresh. They also seem to conveniently forget some ingredients .The picked turnips were pale & soft .The potatoes were reheated. They seem more disorganized without consistent servers. The outdoor patio isn't kept clean & the table & chairs are really dirty.The new owners were great at the beginning but now don't seem to care. read more

I orders a beef poutine to my work, after eating a third of it I found a long hair stuck inside. I left the hair inside the food and did not pull it out so they could see it for themselves. I've been going here for years, even before it was 3 Brothers. It used to be called Marroush Shawarma, but the owner sold it to some brothers who absolutely turned the place around, while maintaining the awesome recipes and selection. The food is fresh, the staff are friendly, the place is vibrant and modern. Nothing but praise for these guys. I can't wait for Rideau construction to be done so I can go more frequently again. They used to have a location in the building that Andaz replaced, but it was torn down with that building. They've opened another location down on Rideau, close to Friel and they've got one on Osgoode too. I've never tried the other Rideau location, but the uOttawa one is ok. I would never have thought to put these two things together, but somehow it works. Have I had better shawarma? Yes. Have I had better poutine? For sure (although it seems like everywhere in Ottawa & eastwards you can't actually get BAD poutine whereas the opposite is true west of Ottawa). But these guys manage to do both very well and the sum of the two is more than the parts. I thought it must be fate that this place stayed open even though there was a huge sink hole that opened in the ground a few hundred meters away. I had the donair shawarma and it was perfectly spiced, delicate and the wrap was light and crispy. I liked it so much I came back the next day and added a poutine. I called to see the status of the food and the owner picked up and told me he was busy and said to F***k off. I was disgusted and appalled.
