The Short Version:
Ottawan shawarma joint. Tried their Halifax Donair, which was good, although different from the Halifax Donairs I had in Halifax.
The Long Version:
3 Brothers Shawarma and Poutine is a chain restaurant that was founded in Ottawa. They have many locations in Ottawa and at least one location in Gatineau that I know of.
I have had shawarma at 3 Brothers before, but not at this location. And I had never had their Halifax Donair before. Halifax Donair is similar to regular Donair with the most distinguishing feature being the sweet sauce.
I saw on UberEats they were having a buy one get one free (BOGO) offer where you can get two Halifax donairs for $12.99. So I ordered it for pickup to share with my parents.
So traditional Halifax Donair comes with the sweet sauce, onions and tomatoes, but I asked them if I could have lettuce instead of onions in my order notes, and I was delighted when I saw they accomodated my request.
It was my parents' first time having Halifax Donair. My father liked it. My mom thought it was good, but she didn't really like the sweet sauce.
I just had a tiny bite as I bought it mostly for my parents, but overall I thought it was good. They were generous with the meats and the flavour was good. It didn't quite taste like an authentic Halifax Donair to me, but it was still good.
Service was friendly. They waited until I arrived to put the donairs in the grill press, which I appreciated, so the sandwiches were hot and the pitas were a bit crispy on the outside.
This location is in the Convent Glen Shopping Centre (which is actually a plaza and not an enclosed shopping centre). Lots of free parking in the plaza parking lot.
