After eating Scottish food for a couple days my wife wanted something less heavy so I let her choose dinner. She chose this pizza place as a palette cleanser and I had a look at the menu and saw it was starters, pizzas, and salads and agreed to go for it since they seemed like the local pizza experts.
Their website even says "For years we searched to find the perfect pizza place. When we realised it didn't exist, we decided to make it ourselves."
They are located on blackfriar which is an amazing name for a street and have a very nicely done interior. You are greeted by a proper pizza oven when entering and it got me excited.
Olive Negroni: never seen this and went for it, I believe in additional to the normal ingredients they add a little bit of olive juice and have an olive on a skewer. I can't say it was a good mix, it felt like every sip had two competing flavors.
Pork belly: with blood orange and slaw. My wife wanted the meatballs for the kids but of course I had to insist on the "weird" one. Pork belly was tough and not cooked long enough, probably not a great starter unless prepped properly.
Pizzas: The worst thing about these were the most important parts. The crust was under seasoned though it was cooked well. The pizza sauce tasted like tomato sauce with no seasoning.
Heritage Tomato Salad: with arugula and other greens, excited to try this and the tomatoes tasted normal if not more plain and it lacked that strong heritage Tomato taste.
Focaccia Appetizer: we got this first and it was great, well seasoned and cooked. It a thinner than normal focaccia and had the appearance of Pizza crust. read more
