Pastry fish filled with chocolate
Lexi B.

A good spot for dessert in Abbotsford if you're looking for something less traditional to western food. We went to grab a treat and they still have the variety of bubble tea and ice creams as before which is great. But there is still no milk alternatives for bubble tea which is a tad disappointing. Prices are moderately affordable. But we ordered a scoop of espresso ice cream in a cup and it did not disappoint. It didn't taste as though it had been sitting long and wasn't freezer burnt. We also ordered two pastry fish, that are a flakey pastry that has a filling inside. They still have a variety to choose from including chocolate, custard, red bean and I believe another. We tried the chocolate and red bean. The chocolate was our overall winner as the red bean took us for a bit of a surprise as it has full beans in it. And, we are used to the paste. I have to deduct a star based upon the service. It was disappointing that the service was lacking due to the server being short tempered with us. We decided to take our treats to go because of this. I hope to return and that this was a one time occasion.

Mango green apple milk tea. Mango ice cream and bubblegum ice cream.

Coming all the way from Vancouver, I have to say this ice cream place was really good. (Better than…read moresome of Vancouver's favourites, if I'm being really honest.) loved the vibe, the ambiance, the staff. Everyone was super friendly and the store was clean. Also that colour palette is so harmonious! The flavours were unique and the ingredients felt very fresh. We were surprised to try their wild mint chip ice cream as it didn't taste like your classic mint chip. It was fresher, lighter, but also packed with flavour. None of the artificial tastes. Customers are able to try samples before they buy. The prices are decent and the scoop portions are good. Not too big or too small. We tried a few flavours: I really liked their strawberry elderflower as it was well balanced with tartness and sweetness. You could taste both elements. Root beer was a wild flavour. It was very close to the soda's flavour (and to some extent, a root beer float, because its ice cream base had a creaminess to it) but wasn't too sweet or too earthy. It IS still a bit medicinal so beware if you're not a fan of root beer. Blackberry chevre was good and felt a bit fancy. Definitely got a good berry taste but you do notice the sour dairy taste from the chevre as a base. Very interesting and was delicious in a cone.

We walked in and they seem to have a constant flow of customer walking in. They are connected to the restaurant/wine bar through a little opening in the wall. I saw the server pass stuff through the wall into the Amici Italian Wine Bar. The Gelato area (which is next store to Amici Italian Wine Bar) serves 10 different kinds of gelato. I got the single scoop pistachio gelato for $4.75. My friend got two flavors (one scoop each) and it was $7.50. The portion size was the same for mine and his. The trick here is to order one scoop. We had it in a cup. The gelato was very flavorful and you can tell it was made with real ingredients (no artificial stuff). It was nice, smooth and very flavorful. I would definitely come back again. There are plenty of free parking in the area (mostly 2 hours).

Had it been more generous I definitely would've given 5 stars as I liked the overall ambiance of this place. I will definitely be back to try the meatball and pasta dishes. Maybe a cocktail or two. The neat aspect is they have 2 separate areas, the upstairs lively open section or the intimate, cosy downstairs where you can enjoy the dim lighting. PS I didn't take pics this time I was too hungry!!

We stumbled across crèmecart at the Saturday Farmers' Market on Orcas Island. The two ladies who run the crèmecart, Michelle and Sommer, sound like they are regulars at the Saturday Farmers' Market, and other island locations as well. They rotate many cool ice cream flavors and cookie combinations. Their crèmecart Facebook page listed many enticing flavors, including: butter cookie and strawberry cheesecake ice cream; dark chocolate cookie and ginger ice cream; chocolate cookie with: salted caramel ice cream or coconut ice cream or chocolate ice cream; lemon cookie with: lavender ice cream or vanilla ice cream; gluten free almond cookie with vanilla or chocolate ice cream; and on July 4th, Apple Pie Ice Cream Sandies. How fun is that? So, like any food cart, crèmecart is seasonal, and moves around following the crowds. Thankfully, Orcas is a small island, and I promise you, they are worth searching for! Five Stars.

By the time I got there, lots of the ice cream sandwiches were sold out. All of the sandwiches are prewrapped and kept cold in the cart, so once they're gone... They're really gone. The cookie was nice and soft, but firm enough to stay together. The ice cream kept cold and didn't drip all over me. I was such a happy camper with my ice cream sandwich. I sure hope I run into this cart again!!

I really enjoyed my time there and got to socialize with some of the guests that came. I even had the opportunity to try the café's drinks and desserts. When I came as an Oscar party guest, I was given a Charcutier plate and a glass of wine when I gave them my ticket. They were a great appetizer. As for their menu choices I had the Salted Vanilla Bean Latte. The drink was fantastic and did not need any added sugar for taste. I also had their Cortado, and I found it strong yet flavourful. I had their Cookies'n'Cream cake, which I found very rich yet enjoyable throughout eating it. The interior of the cafe is very modern-looking with a lot of space. I like the mild lighting inside the business and the fact that they use garden lights and antiquated furniture adds some hospitable quality to it. The staff were very courteous when I was there, even when they were busy hosting the party. Overall, this is an excellent café to go to frequent at and would very much like to stop there again.

The baked items are good depending on your preferred flavours (I.e. my husband didn't like the ham and cheese croissant because it had mustard ‍, but loved the other breakfast sandwich) I would have loved to try some of their coffee/matcha milkshakes! (Yes you read that right.. MILKSHAKES). The baristas were super friendly, and they measure out their coffee for their drinks so you know it's going to taste the same each time. The inside is VERY spacious, with lots of seating. The patio was lovely, however the seats were not very comfy and there was no garbage/recycling out there. YES, I would recommend this place. Will I travel the 10-15 min from my parents house to get coffee again? Probably not... ‍
