Cheesesteak adventure We journeyed down an alley…read moreFull belly, no pic ---- So glad to be able to confirm the legitimacy of the claims that this deli is the truth. Claims that reached me all the way in Baltimore. They said it's a cheesesteak worth traveling for and lucky me, my good friend lives nearby and was down for a lunch meetup. Her words, at my suggestion to meet up at Chick's, were "Definitely, that place is amazing but... How'd you hear about it?!" They clearly do tons of pick up orders and stay busy despite being an off peak time. It took a while to figure out if I was standing in the right spot. (This is another good sign) The chicken noodle soup was amazing. My toddler loved the torpedo. My cheesesteak with fried onions and cooper sharp was everything that I wanted it to be.

I was excited to knock another local cheesesteak spot off my list for lunch, and based on the…read morereviews I had hoped I was in for a real treat. Ordering ahead of time was easy, and my food was hot and ready when I arrived, which I appreciated. However, the parking is a bit of a problem, since the storefront is tucked into a narrow alley off Route 70, and there were a couple of close calls with cars while I was pulling in. The cheesesteak hoagie was $20, and sad to say, other nearby spots are putting out a better sandwich at that price point. The bread was not toasted much and the sandwich just was not as full as I expected. The meat itself was not bad, but it missed the mark on flavor. I also grabbed a danish off the counter as a last minute treat, and it did not taste anything like it looked, with a very bland flavor and almost no sweetness, more like a plain piece of bread. Overall, I would pass on this spot, especially with stronger cheesesteak competitors in the area offering better sandwiches and a more satisfying experience.

I was in town on business at Gloucester City High. I wanted to get a hoagie to eat. The easiest…read morething to do would have been to go to the Wawa across the street, but I looked on here for a local place. Since it was around the corner from the school, I took a shot. The service was friendly. The place looked clean. I got the two-foot turkey and cheese (half for now, half for later). When I opened the sandwich, I was worried that I wasn't going to like it because the roll had cracks in it. My experience has been that that happens when the bread sits out in the open and gets hard and crumbles. Surprisingly, the roll was soft and fresh. The meat tasted delicious. It was a good sandwich. The second half was even better after chilling in the fridge for a while. I would definitely go back again if I am in the area. UPDATE: I went back here in October 2016 to get sandwiches for mom and I for the football game. My turkey was delicious. Mom enjoyed her Italian but was a little disappointed in the meat selection. She said: I thought the roll was good (light and very soft). I was a little disappointed of the amount of meat that was on the hoagie. I was looking for a more variety of Italian lunch meat (capocollo, genoa salami and prosciutto). Overall the hoagie was very good.
