This place has been here forever but had never tried it - I'm half Chinese and the options locally are nonexistent so I decided to give it a go. It's nothing great, but not the worst I've ever had either. There's really no place to sit inside, looks as if they got rid of tables during Covid and never brought them back. The 80's decor is pretty tired looking and it doesn't feel very clean. There's a Chinese couple running the place, the woman takes the orders and the man is in the back cooking. The food was ok. The fried dumplings are the really thick dough kind - definitely not made fresh. My son liked his General Tso's - I didn't try it because that's not my thing. I always try mapo tofu whenever I go to a Chinese place to compare and this one was decent - it wasn't sweet which is always a good sign. Tofu was cut into large chunks which isn't really authentic, and the veggies were also not typical for the dish, but it tasted fine, but not very spicy (as it should be). The lo mein was flavorless. We saved it to sauce up ourselves. Overall fine for standard take out if you don't feel like driving to Hartsdale for great Chinese food. read more

Still great after all these years. 18 months after my last review, I stand by it. One more thing... 28 has not compromised on the quality of their deliverable at the expense of their customers like so many other restaurateurs have chosen to do. Nor have they chosen to raise prices by 20% or more. Please support the restaurants like this one, regardless of cuisine, before we lose them! read more

I would give ZERO if I could. I could not even put my fork into the sweet and sour chicken. Hard as a ROCK. I could not chew it. Almost broke my teeth. No chicken in the rocklike outer shell. Same with the egg roll. Sweet and sour sauce was horrible. One of the worst I have ever tasted. Could not eat it. Rice was even horrible. Only other horrible Chinese was also in Mt Kisco. I usually only pick up in Scarsdale on the way home. Those 2 places are fabulous compared to this. This was worse than RAT FOOD. read more

Overall, I did not find anything appealing and would not return or recommend. The fried dumplings were really thick, the rice was overcooked as was the general Tso's meal. The lo mein had no flavor but on the bright side the tofu wasn't bad. read more

Update after Covid pandemic: Ordered triple crown and my favorite shrimp with garlic sauce. Big servings and packed with meat. Same excellent service. Shrimps are plenty and big serving like the usual. read more

We saw this place only rated 3 stars but looking for cheap Chinese food. We did not expect the food will be fresh, so tasty and the shrimp is so tender, broccoli so green and crunchy. Other fast food charge additional fee if replaced with pork fried rice but this place is no additional cost. As you can see the hot & sour soup, ingredients fresh because the colors are light not like some places they reboil and reboil the soup and the colors of the ingredients gets so dark. This is a very, very low-rent place. It's almost only a to-go spot but there are a couple of plastic tables if your dining companion insists on soaking in the fluorescent ambiance. It's mainstream Chinese American food for the most part. I thought this place was going to be awful, but I was pleasantly surprised. The orange chicken was especially good, with large pieces of orange peel cooked down into an almost candy-like consistency. Despite the cafeteria feel, the food was actually decent here. This may be the worst Chinese food I've had in a long tome. I ordered spicy szechuan chicken and the meal also included won ton soup. The meal was bland with not even a hint of spiciness. The soup broth was taste-less and the oversized won tons had less than a thimble-sized piece of ground pork. My wife's shrimp with lobster sauce was equally bad. Her vegetable fried rice had just a few small vegetables in it. Price was reasonable for the portion, but not worth your investment. read more

We wanted to try a different Chinese takeout so decided to give this place a shot since it's one of a few that actually has a rating and it's 3.5 stars (or 5 stars if this was grading on a curve for "local Chinese takeout") I must say we were pretty happy... food taste good, nice size portion, reasonably priced. And so far I'm not dying from thirst which means msg was under control. And a big plus is that these guys got to our house without much trouble (hubby did share directions with the person on the phone who was courteous). This place makes me hate myself. I love Chinese food but most of the local cheap Chinese places are horrible. So on an almost weekly basis I'll talk myself into ordering from 28 Chinese Kitchen by convincing myself it's not as bad as the other places. Thirty minutes later, the food will arrive, I'll chow down and then the loathing begins. I start thinking to myself "That wasn't even good. Why did I just inhale all of those calories and eat food that I knew wasn't going to be that good? And why am I so tired all of a sudden?" I guess the moral of the story is that when choosing between two-star food and one-star food, maybe the answer should be none of the above. Compared to other low budget Chinese takeouts, this place meets my standard. I always order General Tsao tofu at Chinese places. The sauce is ok, adequate amount of brocolli, and adequately fried tofu. What else can you ask for a $8.25 plus tax ($8.86) dish? In fact, the price is very good. I know a Chinese place at Braircliff Manor. They charge $9.75 plus tax ($10.47) for the exact same dish with comparable quality. Mount Kisco does not have any other Chinese places, so this is good addition to this community. read more

I wanted to try out a different Chinese place than the one in Bedford. So I came to 28 Chinese. Personally the place wasn't all that great. My boyfriend & I said we wouldn't go back again. I got the garlic shrimp with white rice, and mixed vegetables. He got sweet and sour chicken and white rice & we shared pork dumplings. He said some of the chicken was a bit "funky" tasting. The dumplings probably being the best thing, & the canned soda. Couldn't even down most of the food. Half of it went in the garbage. Wouldn't recommend. read more

OK. So I love Chinese food and there are very few around the area that are any good or worth writing home about or frequenting more then once a month.. That is until I found 28 Kitchen. There food is great and the owners and employees are awesome and very friendly. Service is quick and convenient. I love ordering there fried wontons and Chicken with garlic sauce I also love the impeach general tsaos chicken the food is very good the chicken is great and the sauce is fantastic. I highly recommend this place if you are hunkering for Chinese on a weekend or anytime in general! read more

I normally don't write reviews but wanted to counter balance the only other review listed. This is a good take-out place in an area lacking in Chinese food. They offer a wide variety of dishes, some of which not offered by traditional take-out places such as duck. Food is well prepared and tasty. read more

This is the best of all the other Chinese food places in mount kisco, unless you go to a Japanese restaurant and order Chinese! It has a little flavor to it. I wouldn't go to Great Wall Chinese, they don't even have hand soap in the bathroom. They let me use the employee bathroom since they didn't have one for customers when I was pregnant . So if you like American Chinese food and you like the food to be made fast, this place is perfect. People who come to this restaurant almost always come back for more. If you're looking for something fancy, this is not the place to be. If you're looking for lunch or dinner, it is the perfect place for you.
