I received 1 string of a grilled onions and a light portion of cilantro and diced onions enough for 1 taco. The elote was severely bland. There were chunks of the corn with a lot of the pith in the cup so it wasn't properly separated from the cob. Disappointed given my whole issue above lol. The beef fajita was more on the well-well done side. I do wish these were served medium as a standard. The refried beans were my favorite and most flavorful part of my meal although the smaller portion received. I get that the economy is pretty rough on everyone especially the food business but based on my experience it's not cool to experience not being honored a HH deal in the allotted time. I did not know what to expect since the reviews have quite a bit of variance. The outside is sort of run down and not very attractive. I was wondering whether the run down impression would be reflected in not very good food, or if this is the classic hole in the wall that looks unattractive but has great food. So, entering the restaurant, I was not sure what I would get. My initial reaction was: this place looks authentic, like I had just stepped into a Mexican restaurant in Mexico. I took a seat and was immediately greeted by my waitress. She brought chips and salsas, red and green. The chips were not warm but they were crispy and not greasy. I tried the red salsa first and thought, "oh oh, this tastes like it is from a jar." But then I tried the salsa verde (green) and was blown away. Served warm, it has deep, rich flavor. Seeds are still visible. The salsa is not overtly hot but has a slow burn that builds. It was absolutely delicious. As Guy Fieri would say, you could put that on a shoe and it would be good. I asked if it was homemade and was told it was. They should bottle it and sell it retail, it is that good. They only have a couple of lunch specials so ordered from the regular menu. I opted for the taco plate with fajita chicken (3 tacos for $14.95), which comes with charro beans and rice. The tacos were excellent! The chicken was very well seasoned. It was cooked on a flat top and had a nice char which imparted a smoky flavor in every bite. I added the salsa verde, cilantro, and onions and I was off to the races. The charro beans were also excellent and had a deep flavor. I did not care for the pieces of hot dog but the rest of it was nothing short of phenomenal. Incredibly flavorful and throughly enjoyable. The rice was light and fluffy and also had good flavor. Everything was simply excellent. I kept saying to myself: "damn, this food is good!" Next time, I will come when I don't have to work in the afternoon and will try some of their margaritas. I now have the answer to the question: this is a hole in the wall that has excellent food.
