The bartender was kind enough to everyone to turn down the volume during the commercials so that one could hold a conversation.The beer was cold and the price was right...$2.50 for a 12oz domestic, $3.50 for the big bottle. I met a few people and engaged in some thought provoking and intelligent conversation. I went there with $20 and I crawled home with $10. I had so much fun that I went back the next night for the open stage. I was absolutely blown away by the talent!! The participants are people who regularly play with other bands later in the week. They were not just practicing..they were straight up jamming and knocking out the hits. They played everything from Bluegrass to Stevie Ray, to Prince to Eric Church. The acoustics might not be the best, but they have a really good sound system to make up for that. I could here all the instruments and the vocals and the bonus is I didn't go home deaf. At least not that night anyway. The bathrooms have recently been remodeled and were very clean. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming and not at all annoying. If you don't want to be bothered, no one will bother you in this place. Being a female, sometimes that is hard to find. Whether you are homeless or you drive a brand new Mercedes...it seems everyone is welcome here. I moved to Rockford from Central WI, and while I don't get home as often as I would like to, this place is the next best thing. I will definitely be back!!

They attract local musicians travelling between gigs in larger cities. The barn is an old pig barn with magical acoustics, great sound and not a bad seat in the house. The audience is quiet and attentive. They come to hear the music. We saw a band called Cribshitter. Man, were they fun. There's a nice selection of local beers and a food truck. There were excellent food trucks at this event and a long lawn of mowed grass to sit on with fold up chairs. I went to the box…read moreoffice to buy a ticket and the woman in line ahead of me turned around and asked if I was buying a ticket. I said yes. She said here is a free ticket. So I got in free. I had no idea where the seat was located or which door to enter so I followed her to a side door and waited for the doors to open. Upon entering I walked down a short hallway and found myself in the Club Lounge. I had no idea the ticket was to the lounge located at ice level behind the net. There I found a free food buffet, free popcorn, and front row seats and tables. My lucky day! The arena is small, but modern. I estimate about 1500 to 2000 fans in attendance and it looked like there wasn't a bad seat in the house. The food (stuffed pork, California medley veggies, tossed salad, and assorted desserts) was good. Also, there was a popcorn machine for all the free popcorn you could eat. A bar was located in the lounge where you could buy beer, liquor and soft drinks. The employees were fantastic. They constantly asked me if I was having fun and if I needed anything. Overall a great experience and congrats to a small town arena and staff. Oh, and parking was only $5 and the lot was directly across the street from the arena.

I was picturing Allstate Arena or something, but this was a nice size. Big enough to have some professional staging with fire, but small enough to get a good view and good audio quality. CONS: Concessions were no where near prepared to handle this crowd. It did literally take the ENTIRE time between bands to use the bathroom and order a beer. This, in itself, is annoying. But when people who already drank too much are forced to wait that long in poorly-organized lines, tensions can run high. I was accidentally hit in the head twice by some guy who was on the verge of a fight with someone behind me in line. Staff did nothing to create a more orderly, efficient ordering process. OTHER: Parking in the ramps was $10. I wish I'd known that there was a ramp with a covered walking bridge into the venue, instead of having to walk outside a block or two. All in all, I'd go back for music, but I'd drink beforehand and just avoid the concessions completely.
