The quality and detail involved in the instruction here is superb - you feel like you're being given all of the information you need, from the basics to more complex properties of the helicopters. There was no point where I felt like the information was overwhelming or over-simplified: it seemed like the right mix of education and beginner's instruction. As for the flight, it's a blast! While I was far from talented at piloting the helicopter, I was given quite a lot of control over time, and I felt increasingly comfortable as time went on. I felt safe and monitored the entire time - even when a lot of wind blew the helicopter around, the instructor was available to make things right quickly and effortlessly. I worked in aircraft simulation for many years, so I was familiar with the pre-flight procedures the pilot went through before the flight. We flew over downtown Annapolis and the bay near the Naval Academy. I was able to handle the controls for maybe about ten minutes. The scenery was fantastic from about 1500 feet up. It was just like being back in the simulators years ago. I don't know If I will get a pilot's license, but I would definitely go through them if I did. My friend and I came here and we filled out all our consent forms and gave them the Groupon code. Then they took us to the back and explained everything to us. In the plane, you basically sit shotgun while the experienced professional flies the plane into the air to a safe altitude and then they give you control. Flying the actual plane was such an amazing experience. It felt scarier than skydiving to me. The instructor let's you fly for about 20-30 minutes and then he takes you down to the location. He also lands the plane. It apparently gets added to your flight hours if you were planning on becoming licensed. This is a once in a lifetime experience that I high encourage you try. I don't regret it in the slightest and the staff here make you feel safe.

This winter was pretty rough and the flight experience had to be rescheduled several times due to rain, snow, ice, etc....Marylanders, IYKYK! Brett Aviation was very flexible with the rescheduling and we had no issues using the Groupon. We were over the weight limit, but Brett still offered to accommodating us by splitting the flights up into two shorter flights. Since it was a birthday gift, I stayed while my partner went on the flight with Colby. The simple fact that they even offered to do this speaks volumes about the business and was a greatly appreciated gesture. My first suggestion is to definitely check the weight limit before booking, especially if both of you plan on going up in the plane. Also, do not forget your license. The aviation school is inside of a secure gated area and you will not be admitted into the gate without your license. There's a place (FBO building) where you can watch take off if others came with you or if one of you choose to stay. Nothing fancy but it's a gated area with benches. You can watch other planes take off and land as well. You can also sit inside where the FBO office is. Even though I didn't go on the flight this time, this was a fantastic experience! The Groupon was easy to use, the staff was friendly, and I heard the views were absolutely amazing. I booked it at 5:00, so it would coincide with sunset. Highly recommend for couples. However, things changed in my life and I needed to pump the brakes on taking flight lessons. I reached out to the owner, Helen Frado, to return my money I put on my account back to me. I will let the email correspondence speak for itself. I do not recommend this school. I understand Part 61 program is preferred because of flexibility and paying as you go so you don't have to take out a loan. I strongly discourage putting money in your account, because Helen will blatantly lie about sending you checks, say her "accountant" will return your money to your card. It will never happen. You will have to check in via email/phone calls to follow up several times only to be ignored. She will lie and say she never received your emails. You will experience probably the worst case of unprofessionalism I have ever experienced in my life. I am making this review because I don't want anyone to experience what I have. Aviation is a respected career that requires empathy, honesty and accountability. I am beyond appalled that someone that has worked as a pilot and now owns a school responsible for training and employing pilots is conducting themselves and their business this poorly. I read reviews on Google prior to switching from another flight school since it was so convenient. BIG mistake. Most reviews were from many years ago and were pretty good. That is no longer the case. My daughter spent 7 months there working on obtaining her PPL. I went and expressed we needed to be done a few months later and started flying more to be able to be complete. Two months later when I called the instructor multiple times to see when she could take the FAA exam I got no response. I sent notes with my child and still had no response. When I took her log book back to where we started, I found out that she basically didn't progress at all, had not had any instruction in basic areas needed for PPL, and had no solo time although she had completed a solo prior to starting there. She logged in over 60 hours of flight time over the 40 she already had. A complete waste of thousands of dollars!

We had a beautiful late March day. Our flight instructor Jon put us all at ease. The information, the new sights and sounds come at you fast, but Jon presented all the information in a clear, intuitive way. Before I could get nervous, I had the throttle pushed all the way to the firewall, at Jon's command I'm pulling back on the yoke, seconds later - the exhilaration of flight. From the moment we started, he was incredibly friendly, calm, and easy to talk to, which made a huge difference as someone who had never flown before. He gave clear, helpful direction and made flying feel way less intimidating than I expected. His patience and confidence really stood out for me, as well as how comfortable he made me feel the entire time. He also went out of his way to capture a lot of footage for me, which I really appreciated. Overall, my instructor was great and made this such a smooth, enjoyable first experience. I highly recommend flying with him, and I'll definitely be back again in the future.
