We had the Bruschetta and chicken Marsala - the most elevated Marsala I've had in years - all the amazing flavors and none of the heaviness of a traditional Marsala. Food was great, service was ok. Took 15 minutes to get our drinks and take our orders. It wasn't that busy, thought it would be faster. The burger was wagyu beef. Very good. Was ordered and served medium. The garlic fries were worth the 2$ upgrade. The jalapeño queso dip was super yummy while it was hot. The beer Mac was amazing but I paid the extra 2$ for bacon and felt it could have had more. Caesar salad was basic...nothing overly exciting about it, but that is what was ordered. The cherry jubilee is made with bourbon and you can definitely taste it, amazing over the vanilla ice cream. I ate the cherries jubilee as my meal. I'm an adult now and sometimes dessert is dinner. I just got ripped off big time, please do not purchase from this boutique, it's a big scam!! I bought over $400.00 worth of clothes last week for my job. I wore a sweater and a pair of pants a few days after purchase and within a few hours, the clothes started to fall apart. The sweater began shedding and growing a hole in the left shoulder and the pants were literally shedding with material. I was really bummed and don't like confrontation but knew I needed to bring them back. When I kindly explained the situation, I was treated TERRIBLY! I was told they have a no return policy once worn, as they cannot resell the clothes once worn. I reiterated kindly that the clothes were falling apart within hours and that I would sure hope they wouldn't be reselling damaged clothes. The gal working said that with the sweater "being on the 50% off rack that I certainly shouldn't expect them to take it back and as a business owner, I should see from their view why they will not take the clothes back because they can't make money off of it..." She also said some other unprofessional and rude things to me but I wanted to share the moral of the story so others would hopefully see this and not get ripped off! read more

The venue is beautiful, the boutique well stocked, but the food was extremely expensive. I'd really like them to make it as a venue, but unfortunately, I think they need a reality check on their pricing.... Unfortunately, the bartender was not available and the very nice young man that was our waiter was too young to serve alcohol, so we went without cocktails. We started with the spicy artichokes and garden of eden cauliflower. The spicy artichokes appeared to come from the type of jar you find in a grocery store and were served in a bed of oil with spices that didn't flavor either the artichokes or the oil, plus it was served cold. Underwhelming to say the least and could use some better love from the kitchen. The garden of eden was fried cauliflower in an egg wash with a white sauce. While tasty, the sauce drowned the taste of the cauliflower - sometimes less is indeed better. Our main dishes were the seared scallops (which were cooked perfectly) and the Turkish Shephard salad. Both were wonderful. Our server was kind and checked on us without being intrusive, but we were disappointed with the lack of a bartender and the very high prices. We will be watching to determine if they develop a lunch menu and happy hour to lure customers to try them at a more friendly cost. If so, I would definitely come back, but not at dinner prices for lunch. read more

We had our son's rehearsal dinner for his wedding in their "Barrel Room" event space this past weekend. The room is beautiful. So much space! The tables with the wine barrels are so cool. And we were given the freedom to arrange and decorate however we wished. The food was INCREDIBLE. The bbq buffet we chose included the best beef we've ever tasted. Having watched this location change twice over the years, I will start with the 3rd times the charm! The ambiance is fresh and inviting. The staff and service were great. I'm a bit of a steak connoisseur, and the tenderloin I had was better than Wolfgang Puck's CUT in Las Vegas. The Caesar salad and burrata appetizer were a perfect combination. When we arrived we were informed the kitchen was backed up and it would be a little longer than normal. We were a hungry party of two and ordered quickly. Our wait was two hours!!! We were served at closing time and the staff began their closing duties (putting chairs on the table next to us, etc). A long wait could have been shortened had they used their extra staff (6 servers and a bar tender) to help out in the kitchen! The real kicker is they weren't even busy!!! My wife and I visited this restaurant tonight for the first time and I have to say overall it was a disappointing experience. We found out about this place as we like to play trivia at different places around the Treasure Valley and they were advertising trivia from 7-9pm on Thursday. This looked like a good place to have dinner and play some trivia, so we were excited. So we drove 30 minutes from our house in Meridian to get there. The problem is they canceled trivia tonight without posting anything on the Game Night Live website or their social media, etc. So, although we were disappointed, we stayed for dinner and it must not have been their night tonight. The steak skewer appetizer sounded awesome but it was burnt and one of the smallest portion sizes I've ever seen for $16. They also ran out of the slaw (which we found out about when they dropped the food off) that went with it which must make the dish because it was extremely pedestrian without that. I ordered the Caesar salad which also came out missing items. On a positive note, the nachos that my wife ordered were pretty tasty and her prickly pear margarita was the best thing we had there tonight. read more

Amazing location! This place is so beautiful. It's a dual restaurant with an event facility. We visited during rehearsal dinner and were able to see some of the wedding productions on the grounds while we dined on the large outdoor patio. We started with the pork and nacho appetizer. Both were full of flavor and great portions for our starters. I order the Pork tacos and they were excellent! The pork itself you could tell was treated with care during the cooking process, full of juices and flavors. My wife ordered the Fried Chicken dish, I don't recall the name but she loved it to the point I didn't even get a bite! The server was super friendly and attentive. Never had to ask for water refills, extra napkins, and she provided great recommendations on the menu. Flats was a perfect location for our dinner date, a bit of a trek to get there, but worth every penny! We'll be back for sure to try more menu items. read more

I've been here a few times. It's kind of an oasis for me away from the norm. The scenery is beautiful with a waterfall, a creek, and nice landscaping. A great place to bring visiting guests from out of town, along with family and friends. The food is pretty good. Their apple stuffed filled Pork Chop is really good. (Let you in a little secret) I don't even like pork chops. but impressed I was. My guest had a burger which I have to say was very tasty. (I snatched a bite discreetly ). Their cocktail drink specialty was average. I had a basil gin specialty cocktail. It was over powered with lemon juice. I much prefer their wine or beer selection from past visits. Horrible service, will not be going back. The young teenager that was our waiter wasn't to blame. His rude manager that seems to not care about her service or training a young man to do his job right. We had to send every plate back with how dirty they were, even when clean plates were brought back, I had to clean them at the table. Being a server, I can understand how this happens but every plate was really bad. When asked if there was red-dye 40 in a dessert we had at the table (cherry pie with ice crème) I was assured no 3 times by the waiter, I then asked him to ask his manager anyway, she came out and said yes it does after looking it up, she couldn't care less about letting the waiter know how important it is with food allergies, my daughter could have died from that mistake. They were annoyed by us by then. Food was awful, no flavor. We've been coming for years and I believe it has changed ownership as the the last 3 times nothing has flavor and isn't cooked right. Menu has changed and isn't worth the price tag now. The bill has an 18% gratuity on it for groups of 8 or more, we were 4 adults and 2 kids. Not a big deal there but when I went in to complain about our experience and they were going to lose a customer, family, the manager couldn't care less, blamed everything on me and kept repeating herself that we got full service. I asked if I could let the owner know and she said sure email the company in Washington, didn't give me anymore information. The managers father was sitting behind me and then tells me what a bit ch I am, in front of the 5 year old, the managers son. My family had gone to the car so I was alone for that awesome verbal attack. That's what you get for complaining about service and food. This place used to be epic but we will never go back. Hate to leave bad reviews, but needed to let local public know my husband got severe food poisoning here after an early Father's day meal on Saturday. Steak Tacos- was violently ill for 48 hrs. Coming from someone who very rarely is ever sick. Very disappointing to the tune of $70! Luckily me and my 2 year old and 11 month old didn't eat anything! We drove 30 minutes out of our way to come try this restaurant. It was posted online that it was open on Tuesday from 11 AM to 10 PM. However when we arrived there was a sign on the door saying they were closed on Monday and Tuesday. I just wish they took the effort to update it online. Most likely won't go back now. read more

We had my daughter's wedding reception here on June 8th! The new owners have done an incredible job with the grounds, it's so beautiful! Special shout out to Glenn, he keeps that place spotless. The staff is super friendly and on the ball. I couldn't have asked for a better place to have our reception. They catered the food which was superb. I have never had a worse dining experience. There were more flies in this restaurant than a horse barn. We watched two large tables who were seated 20-30 minutes after us get their food even though we placed our order before they were sat down. We ended up leaving with our food boxed because we couldn't take the flies anymore. The food was good, the drinks were good but we will never come back or recommend it to anyone. The outdoor patio seating is great here. Lots of tables available including some long tables for larger parties. Beautiful scenery of trees, grass, and a little brook right next to the patio. Cheery strings of lights overhead brighten the patio after sunset. There is also a smaller raised patio with a fire pit in the middle and comfy chairs around it that was perfect for our party of 8. Yummy drinks and food as well as great service. The vegetarian cauliflower steak appetizer is my favorite. Closing time is ten but they don't kick you out right when they close because they are pretty laid back which is nice. I truly want to like this place. I've seen it go through 4 owners, a renovation of the inside, the patio was spruced up, metal partitions added here and there, and fire pits added. Unfortunately, with each new owner, more focus was put on improvements than focusing on quality management, top shelf customer service, and a good menu at a reasonable price. With property values soaring in Star, my guess is the new owners from Washington will shut down the restaurant and develop the land into a higher and more profitable use. Maybe the employees and management have already been told that and that is why the customer service is so poor. read more

The venue is absolutely beautiful, there's no doubt about that. My sister got married there and she had a wonderful day! Mostly because me and the rest of our family shielded her from the incredibly rude and unhelpful owner. They have clearly never run an event space before and most the staff seemed lost and unaware of what's going on or where anything was. We opted to do all the decorating and set up ourselves, which was great, but if we needed anything, we either didn't get it or got a load of attitude from the woman who owns it. It was incredibly disappointing. I'm fine if the answer is no and they can't do something but she proceeded to give me and my family so much attitude when we had any questions. We also ended up way ahead of schedule and both the owner AND the head chef offered to us to have dinner earlier than scheduled, so I kindly took them up on the offer and said 5:15-5:30 would be perfect. Mind you, that was only 30 minutes earlier than planned. As 5:30 approached, I walked over to the restaurant to just get an ETA as our whole party was now waiting because we were told earlier was fine. When I talked to the owner she proceeded to tell me how hard it was for them to accommodate such a last minute change and that they were doing the best, but she's who offered the change! But some reason needed to try to make me feel bad about it. Then once all the food was out, they didn't give us serving utensils. I had to go back and forth from the restaurant to the event space multiple times because they kept forgetting things. I normally would not mind this because I know things happen, the only reason it was truly bad was because of how rude the owner was the entire time. She clearly should not be in customer service if she doesn't know how to treat people with kindness. If you want to use this space for an event, it's absolutely beautiful but don't expect anything from the staff and be aware that the owner will be rude for the entirety of your event. read more

I wouldn't normally dream of ordering a pork chop in a restaurant! Not so at The Flats! I have selected the apple dressing stuffed pork chop as my meal twice now, and it my all time favorite dish! I especially enjoy it with a glass of moscato! I have to find out what vineyard they get it from! We have enjoyed lunch and dinner at The Flats, and have enjoyed every meal.
