Another burger place. Apparently the Chinese think all Americans eat are burgers or steaks. And…read moreall we think is that they eat Panda Express (I would kill for Panda Express after smelling what they really eat) The burgers are good, not fabulous. The food is on the smaller side, but so are the people so maybe they could teach us a lesson or two in portion control! The prices are, oh I dunno. It is hard to constantly divide by 6. I spent $265 or so.

Burgers and buffalo wings- this pretty much sums out what Homey Café is about. The first time I…read morecame here I was surprised that any one could actually find this place; its nestled away in a less well traversed corner of Yuen Long that had I not been a local I would not know that such a place exists. The restaurant is actually quite small so you can more or less expect there to be queues especially over the weekend. Inside the setting is a bar/ restaurant set up and the menu is quickly dispatched to you. There are lots of choices, as you would expect from a US styled restaurant, which are mainly BBQ this or baked that. This is just what I'm looking for in a meal: enough meat to fill me up, enough cheese to clog my veins and enough food to let people know I have no intention of doing the Olympics. When the food arrived though, I was surprised: the portions are relatively paltry and I would say that its focused more on quality rather than quantity. Despite being initially disappointed I am happy to report that the burger are very well made and despite being smaller they were a treat for my Saturday afternoon. Any drawbacks? I was seated over at the bar side high chairs and it was really uncomfortable - that nearly ruined the experience for me but the food saved the day.

I won't say the service is amazing, but they'll get to helping you within a few minutes. This place does feature a mildly trendy North American décor, though yes let down by the use of window paint to highlight what the restaurant serves in addition to the boxes of things that someone decided to just plop in the dining area. When it comes to food, this place does a good job, I ordered the set lunch which included a cream of chicken soup and beverage with my sole risotto. The soup was tasty, but they had tiny stringy shards of chicken that messed with the texture a little. On the bright side, there are no lumps. The sole risotto was also very good. The sole was perfectly cooked- flaky and flavourful with a very light crust, and the rice could only be described as al dente. The crouton was a very strange choice, but I'll let it slide. I topped off my meal with a coffee. To be brutally honest, it's definitely best served cold. I ordered a hot coffee and their supplier could have done a better job of roasting the beans- the coffee tasted burnt. Overall, I think this place is worth a visit. It offers decent food at a reasonable price... just avoid ordering a hot coffee.

Best Steak House in Yuen Long…read more I have been coming to this place for 6 years. The owner Randy is one of the friendliest owners in Hong Kong. He spent some time in New York, that's why he named this restaurant New York Cafe. They just recently expanded into 2 units and added Seaport Bar n Grill. This place is not like any steak house in New Territories. It's own by a humble man who cares about his customers and gives you the food quality without charging you a fortune. That's really rare in Hong Kong. Furthermore, you really don't get a lot of good western food in New Territories, even harder in Yuen Long. Both steak and seafood here are imported. Amazing Australian Prime Rib, Boston Lobster, and huge Mussels. For dinner sets, 8 oz Beef Tenderloin, Cajun Chicken Pizza, Fish & Chips are just mouth watering good. You just can't get this kind of food quality from local chain like King of Steaks. They also have a great wine selection. The owner Randy is a big wine drinker and cigar smoker. You would see him hanging out with a few friends smoking cigar here around 9pm every night. The wine priced fairly and I am sure the owner hand picked them individually. This is a 5 star restaurant for the quality of food, service, and particular for this location (Yuen Long). You can of course find better steak and seafood restaurant in TST and Central that charge you $1000+ a person. For $150-300 a person, the food and service is way beyond its value. I have recommended all of my friends and family to come eat here. Everyone has only praises about his place. I will add more photos later.

Hidden in the corner of a small park in Yuen Long is Urban United Burger. I paid this little burger…read morejoint a visit and ordered the "Washington favourite" with a honey lemonade. I initially wanted a "Dallas Pepper" burger, but they ran out of mushrooms, so I grudgingly went with the Washington Favourite. It was okay, but not that good. While they use a cornucopia of fancy ingredients like Parma ham and black truffle, the flavours really didn't complement each other. I could taste the truffle, but it didn't really make that much of a difference with how the burger tasted. The flavour of the Parma ham was also covered up entirely by their very well seasoned burger patty. To sum it up, the "Washington Favourite" was a pretentious mess that didn't turn out in the remotest sense as they'd have hoped. The fries were okay, in that they were very flavourful- this was its saving grace considering how the exterior was a bit tough and chewy, their ketchup seems to have fermented (it was sharp) and they tried to pass off miracle whip as mayo. The drinks are quite nice, I had a very pleasant honey lemonade, though their "highly recommended" chocolate milkshake was a huge disappointment- it didn't nearly have enough chocolate, or milk. It was more like a chocolate flavoured shaved ice with extra fine ice. The Toblerone on top was a nice presentation piece, but it was stale, so that was a let down too. If you do order drinks, I'd advise that you order on the more conservative side. Nothing too Avant Garde- i.e. Stick with their hot beverages. The people that I ate with seemed to really enjoy it.
