After I paid a ridiculous amount of money for NOT getting into my apartment, I ended up making a trip to grab my spare key. Once I returned, I found the door was jammed and not even my spare key could open it. Clearly, the door was damaged by the locksmith and when I had a maintenance team help me, we found that the box strike plate was completely dented. In addition, a lot of paint was chipped off the door, and there's now a gap even when the door is fully closed. So, I paid an astronomical price for having my door damaged, which my building had to fix themselves, in addition to not having my problem resolved. The receipt states that I paid on the basis of being fully satisfied with the service which is evidently NOT the case. Avoid to salvage your bank account and your mental health.

This was at the front door of the house. When I refused, they demanded a $25 fee in cash for showing up. (see my review on South Brook Locksmith for more details on the attempted scam) I called Frank back at Armour Lock as they had given me a little bit higher initial quote, but they were very honest, professional and upfront. As the other reviewer notes, they charge reasonable prices. They were on time and everything went as promised. No surprises. Not one. And they took a check, as they said they would on the phone. A few months later, I was having a problem with the same lock and Armour came (again on time) and fixed it as part of their warranty on the work they do, for no charge. Armour Lock and their affiliates are a completely upstanding and professional business. I would recommend them to anyone.

Made an appointment due to a stuck lock/latch we couldn't fix ourselves even after removing the old…read moreknobs. The locksmith was able to unstick it, but then the problem happened: he offered to replace the lock and it's twin (on another door) with like keys, and unfortunately, we said yes, go ahead. We were charged for a service call AND a huge fee for installation, AND for very, VERY cheap lock sets which he must have got for at most $10 a pair. The mark up was almost ten times that, per set. We ended up getting robbed, figuratively. If we had just left the un-stuck door open and went to the home center to buy our own locks we couldn't have been ripped off worse than we had been by the locksmith himself. I'm frankly embarrassed to say how much the total bill was for badly installing two low, low quality door knobs. The installation was not done correctly. At all. One of the screws missing completely! We had to keep tightening the one screw every week. A gap was also left in the too small knob and air came in through the visible gap even though I told him we were concerned about that and he said he would "take care of it". The super cheap knobs he installed also started losing their finish and chipping in a few months. To top it all off, the door would no longer close when the weather changed, and I had to spend time with a dremel tool digging out bits of metal from the plate so the latch would go in. Insane. Just insanely shoddy workmanship for grotesque prices. I suppose we should have asked for a refund but we honestly didn't want this person anywhere near our house again. Eventually I did buy new knobs at a home center for a total of about $30, nearly 1/15th of what we had spent on the locksmith. Installed them easily and they are at least TEN times better quality than the garbage he put in. So one star (as if I have a choice) for getting the lock unstuck, but obviously jeers for ripping us off. We foolishly let ourselves get thoroughly abused by this rip off artist. Don't let it happen to you. Use ANYONE else at any price. You've been warned.
