i can't say enough good things about 1604 A/C and Heating. I had Elmer's A/C examine my two systems a month ago and was told I needed to replace both plenums to the tune of $2,000+. Other items were added to the estimate. I was totally surprised and called 1604. Craig came out and performed a complete inspection to find that the plenums were not leaking in any way. This senior citizen was pleased to learn the truth. He also inspected the compressors and topped them off with freon. His costs were very reasonable given the inspection and work performed. Craig is very personable and very experienced with A/C systems. As a one person business, he does not pay for office space, payroll taxes, leased vehicles and other typical business related expenses. He is able to pass those savings on to his customers. His new van holds all types of parts and equipment for repairs. Had our system installed by this company in 2017 and recently started having issues. Had someone come check the system and told us he'd get back to us because he "needed to do some research" which he never did so my husband reached out to him after a week only for him to say the parts we needed were not under warranty. Which we knew was a lie because we had the warranty certificate in hand. So after making some phone calls we were able to find the part we needed same day & of course it was covered by the warranty & we only paid $200 for it to be fixed! To make matters worse, little did they know we found the part & had it fixed already so they called my husband today offering to come fix it for $1200! 1604 USED to be a good company. They actually put in a new heating and cooling system in our home about 8 years ago. At that time, things seemed to be going ok. Somewhere along the line, the service has gone way downhill. It seems there is only one technician, no answering service - calls go into voicemail and the technician who came to our home to do a system check and cleaning of our outside unit told us it didn't need to be cleaned. He basically stayed on his phone the entire 15 minutes he was here. We do pay for regular maintenance service of course, so not doing anything while talking on the phone was the last straw. It was OBVIOUSLY dirty, so we reached out to another company for the job. The other company's technician showed us that it was indeed quite dirty and spent the better part of an hour cleaning it. We had both AC coils replaced by 1604 AC 11 months ago at the price of $7,000. We now have one dripping water because it is the wrong size and the pan is tilted. Called 1604 and the owner came out to look at it he then left saying he would call us in 4 days to return to fix the leak. In the meantime we had to replace dripping wet towels in the AC closet twice a day to sop up the water. They never called and did not answer the phone when we tried to call them. BEWARE!!! I had the need for an emergency air conditioning situation this evening, July 19. I had water leaking from the kitchen ceiling which I thought was from my air conditioner. With it being so hot and the AC was running a great deal it has put strain on all things cooling. The phone was answered by a young man. He did not identify himself. As I tried to describe what was going on I became a bit confused. I asked about service fee and any other charges. During the call there were a number of clicking on the line. I asked him if he was still on the line and just before he answered I heard laughter. Maybe I'm paranoid but after 50 years in the customer service profession I am very attuned to phone conversations. I declined his $89.95 service call between 7:30pm and 9:30pm this evening. I would not trust them to do anything!!! Based on the fact the brake checked me out of a intersection I was going less than 10 so it didn't do anything to me but left several cars in the intersection in severe danger and kept checking their brakes like it was a joke! This in there company van. Proves there true professionalism and consern for others. Why did they do this at at flashing arrow who knows maybe they don't know what that means procede slow with caution obviously their brakes only caused harm to the two other people behind me but for real they were jerks and shouldn't be trusted to work on anything. read more

Let me start by saying that we've used 1604 AC & Heating for years and I'm not sure if they sold in the last couple of years but I honestly feel scammed now that they've taken our money and business. At the beginning of the summer (May 2022) our unit gave out so we called 1604 AC & Heating since we'd used them in the past for maintenance, well they came out and told us it was going to cost $13,531.25 to replace the unit (both outside & inside parts) and that that was the only solution to our problem. We of course were desperate and trusted their business so we agreed to the amount. They installed the new unit as agreed and it wasn't until our second unit stopped working (we have 3 units on property) that we decided to call another company. They quoted us $6,900 for the same work but told us that at this time some Freon would fix our problem for the time being and we could wait to replace it later since we had just spent 14k on the ONE unit alone. Obviously we've been ripped off, TREMENDOUSLY. The problem we are having now is that this company has failed to follow up with us as agreed upon. They said they would come inspect 1 month post installment to ensure everything was running the way it should and of course they'd respond to our concerns with the new unit as needed. We have been unable to get ahold of anyone outside of the answering service they have in place which apparently is the only one that answers their phones. No one can manage to call us back and at this point that kind of sucks considering we spent almost 14k with this business. At this point I would say take your business to a reputable company that isn't going to overcharge you and of course never pay 14k for an AC unit. My aunt in California (near LA) just paid $6,400 to have a similar unit replaced (inside & out), for reference, so clearly we WERE ripped off. read more

In 2020 our AC finally gave out and we called around for quotes. 1604 was the cheapest and Robert discussed several options for us, all at a reasonable price. To date three years later there have only been a few issues but luckily none in the dead of summer. Clogged drain line was my maintenance issue. Another was an electrical issue where the unit plugged in blew in the attic. And now to recent events which was an AC issue. Unfortunately the blower motor went out and Goodman, out of Houston, could/would not get one here in a reasonable time. The rushed one but it was the wrong one and 1604 was left to feel our anger and frustrations. Long story short Robert has bee awesome for years and I feel bad he had to see/feel our frustrations. After 22 years we replaced the original HVAC system in our house. 1604 AC and Heating were recommended to us and did the job for $7000. We followed their recommendation on a new Ruud 4 ton 16 SER unit. Five years to the week after they installed it the compressor failed. The good news is Ruud warrantied the compressor for ten years. The bad news is 1604 Heating only warranties their work for three. They quoted me $1800 labor to replace the compressor. I paid the $1800, but to another company. I'm not going to reward poor quality work with more of my business and my money. By the way, I emailed the owner after the compressor went out and explained why I chose to use another company for the repair. That was two weeks ago and I've yet to receive any response. read more

I have had my unit for under a year and it just went out. Called to get a service call because it is under warranty. Danny "the only Danny" asked if this was under warranty and I said it was. Since it is under warranty he said he would be out tomorrow afternoon instead of doing an emergency repair. He then got frustrated with me because I told him that was unacceptable and be hung up on me. I have a 7 and 2 year old in this house with no A/C. I will now have to call another company to get this fixed and pay them even though this is supposed to be under warranty. I paid for this warranty and the fact that they are not honoring it is criminal. Update: Had another company just come out. Fixed the issue in under 30 minutes. I am reviewing 1604 Air Conditioning and Heating LLC, 10907 Buckskin Bend, San Antonio, 78254. My outside AC unit stopped working on Wednesday so I found this company in the recomendations on Nextdoor. Robert came out the next day and to make a long story short said I needed a 'hard start kit and a turbo high voltage absorption system (which I found out after research is just a new capacitor). Istalled the small part, stayed less than 1/2 hour (never turned his truck engine off!) and charged me $1,039.20!! I suspected this was a massive overcharge so I went online and researched the cost of the part (Robert threw away the packaging in my trash can). $67.62 on Amazon! Massive overcharge!! So my AC went out. I comtacted 1604 AC to do repairs. The below is what he quoted me $8400 for new entire unit (inside and out). I said no bc I didn't need a whole new unit bc they were new. He said okay $4900 for just the upstairs unit. I kindly declined but then he quickly change the price to $2500 just to do a quick fix. I said no again. He came back to offer $1200 if he did something upstairs, replaced my thermostat and do somethinge outside to get it working. At this point I knew he was trying to scam me and he wasn't making a whole lot of sense on what was wrong. I called for a 2nd opinion immediately afterwards and come to find out 1604 AC person disconnected my wires upstairs and on my thermostat. My 2nd opinion reconnected the wires and repaired my issue for $300. My AC is now blowing cool air. read more

H then charged me 3 times more than what he quoted for a diagnosis, misdiagnosed the issue, didn't fix (of even offer to fix anything), and just left. I called him and he came right on out to look at the issue. He figured it out and fixed it quickly. I talked to him and he clearly knew what he was doing. The price was also fair and reasonable. Very friendly, HONEST, and professional. He didn't try to sell me a whole new system. In my case all that was needed was a part replacement. Our A/C was having issues and we called 1604 air. The technician came up with no tools and barely looked at our unit before diagnosing the "problem". All of their solutions were leading towards a 3 k new unit. I called another company and they had tools and actually looked at our unit and said the previous tech had no idea what they were talking about or were just trying to scam us. I wish I could give 0 stars! Called them out because our upstairs was not cooling at all. When they got here they first tried to say we would need a new outside unit (which is less than 2 years old), new inside unit, and a new thermostat totalling almost $11000!! Plus he told us that we needed to hurry up and make a decision because while they had the parts in today they probably wouldn't have them tomorrow (really??!!). We turned them down and called another company. When the other company arrived he actually showed us where the upstairs unit had been tampered with so that the wires weren't connected and then when he checked the thermostat those wires had been disconnected as well! Now I'm no electrician so I can assure you I wouldn't have even known how to disconnect anything. The second company fixed the damage this company caused and fixed the underlying issue (cleaned the condenser coil) for $325. A far cry from the $11000 we were quoted by this company. STAY AWAY!!! I contacted them after attempting to work with one of the mainstream local business. The owner is really spectacular to work with and sent a technician (Luis) out at 6P, only 1 hour after my call and at the end of the day. Recognizing that I didn't want to buy a new entire unit that day, Luis fixed my AC and said that it should be good for a long time. He continued with some possible things that could go wrong with an older unit and as well as some things to keep watch for. 1604 replaced both of my units in March 2016...they were supposed to be in my home for a week and turned into 3 1/2 weeks. I paid just under $25,000. The installers made promises of giving my mother a purification system since they took so long to install my systems. I just spoke to Monette and she informed me that they will not service my units anymore since someone else has serviced them...but hold on... A part that is under warranty that you installed is not working!!!! I called "Champion A/C" the guys that installed my unit two years ago, and they told me that they wouldn't be able to come out for two day. It was 100 degrees, so I knew I wasn't going to wait two days. I called 1604 A/C and spoke to Angel, a repair technician. He told me that he could be on the way, just give him my address. Do not call this company if you have a mobile home. I called them, setup an appointment, took the day off from work and when their service man arrived, he told me they don't work on mobile homes. Total waste of time and very poor communication on the part of the company.
