16 Handles is definitely one of the things I miss most about going to Rutgers! They have a pretty good selection of frozen yogurt, with my favorite flavors being NY Cheesecake and Nutella. They also have a pretty extensive topping bar. My go-to is the toasted coconut, which is usually in stock. My only complaint is that at some point they changed the cheesecake bites, which were not as good as the original ones. The atmosphere of this place is pretty fun -- they have cute seating. Sometimes it can be hard to get seating on busy nights, but there's also places to sit outside. One thing I appreciate about this location is that they always honor app promotions and coupons. Found this dessert spot very close to our place and we've become regulars here. Basically its frozen yogurt/ ice cream from the self serving machines and then add all the fixings from the buffet. Once you've piled up your sweet tooth craving sensation, the cashier weighs it and charges accordingly. I believe it's like 72 cents an ounce. There are so many choices of toppings that are available. It's a unique concept, where they have self serve / soft serve frozen yogurt dispensers (handles!) with multiple creative flavors, then you add any toppings you want. Throw topping selection is off the charts. But unlike most dessert shops that charge one fee, 16 Handles charges by weight, so the more frozen yogurt and toppings you choose, the more you pay. The flavor and topping selections are great, and there's something for everyone. Just be advised it's not exactly cheap. We ordered for three and it was over $30. I guess my kids really loaded up on the toppings! But it's a fun concept, great stuff, and right in the middle of Rutgers' campus. They did have some seating inside and outside. We visited after college let out for the summer, so there were no lines or crowds, and free parking was available on the street. I'm not sure if that's an issue during that school year. So this place is a frozen yogurt joint in Livingston apartment B at Rutgers. They have as the name suggest 16 different types of yogurt available when all the machines are operational. They have some fun flavors and some strange ones too, i wish they had the sample cups out so you could taste them although with the clientele i could see why you would just want them out. I've had some good ones I've come back for and some other flavors that i was good after my first serving. The biggest negative about this place is the price. Its fairly pricey for frozen yogurt. I think the going rate is between .39 and .44 cents per. and l think they charge about .56 cents an ounce. I dig how they have non traditional flavors such as cold brew coffee, Matcha, taro pie, cotton candy, and euro tart. Like other froyo places, they have additional fresh toppings such as cookie dough bits, mini chocolate pretzels, sprinkles, Kit Kat, popping boba, syrups and fresh fruit. Normally, I'm all for the fruity and/or tart flavors, but the Salted Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough was absolutely amazing, so I got that (along with some Birthday Cake + Green Tea Vanilla) loaded with cheesecake bites and fruit. The froyo place is very new, clean, spacious, and relaxing -it has a very comfortable lounge area and it's set up to fit moderately big groups of friends (4-6). We really enjoyed what we got but was really grossed out with the way the young cashier handled our cone. We asked for a cone and she literally got it with her bare hands and handed it to us. We don't know what she was touching prior to handling this cone. I mean it's also common sense to wear gloves or use some type of utensil to handle food for customers. The cone was for my son. This is your typical Froyo place. 16 flavors available everyday, with rotating flavors. I was not impressed though. I sampled 4 flavors and I didn't like most of them. The honeydew and watermelon flavors didn't taste good at all, it reminded me of medicine. The two flavors I ended up getting was green tea vanilla and Nutella. The Nutella was my favorite! Wish they had better flavors to choose from! There is a great variety and a ton of toppings to choose from. The service was good and staff is friendly. There's a ton of seating inside and outside. My go-to froyo place! It's clean, the staff greet you every time you walk in, they seem happy to help recommend a flavor. The flavors themselves change every so often so it's not the same when you go in, but they do have a few staples that stick around like the Passionfruit one and the original tart one (I think that's what's it's called... it's always the last one on the right). It's a very comfortable place to hang out. Not really a place to do homework since there aren't very many tables, but it's a good place to take a study break! My favorite topping is the little strawberry burst bubbles. I don't know what they're called exactly, but I always load up on those! I live on College Ave, but I don't think twice about making the trek over to Livi to get my froyo fix from this place. This is a high quality fro-yo place. I am not a student, but come here with my kids because it is that good. You can taste the excellent quality of the yogurt. Flavors are amazing, and they have so many toppings to choose from. Other places charge extra for "premium toppings", but they don't charge, especially for the nutella hazelnut crunch! It is very clean (other places like the now closed let's yo in south plainfield smelt like rotten milk). The workers seem to be like university students, but they were so friendly and helpful. It is slightly pricey for a fro-yo place, however, you get what you pay for, so it is worth it. So happy to have this in the area, and I hope it stays open given that many fro-yo places have been closing down. One of my favorite dessert spots! read more

Attempted to go here twice. Both times were unsuccessful because apparently it's closed on weekend. The website and Google both say they are open but once you go there the sign on the door says closed. Why an ice cream place is closed on weekends is beyond me so chances of ever going back are slim to none read more

The location is clean, the employees are actually attentive and nice, and the location is really convenient. The one downside is that it's hard to be healthy here.
