Totally puzzled by the lower star reviews. And I am one that is tough when writing reviews.. great little place, friendly staff and fair value for the money. Something different.. and the banana ice cream actually starts with.. wait for it.. real banana. What a treat. Clean place and something different. Better ice cream than the overpriced places around here that are tourist traps. Try it out.

A small shop by the ithaca commons downtown area. Its a lovely shop to get some ice cream. You do have to waste $10 to use your credit card, so carry at least 6 dollars if you want to buy some ice cream. They have at least 5 to 6 different choices, and you can add and choose other toppings as well (the price may increase). The only reason that i am giving this place 4 stars was the toppings. In my ice cream, it included gummy bears. As i bit into the gummy bears they were so stale and dry that i could barely eat it. Overall i would this is place to check out. They place liquid ice cream onto a cooler and you can see the process of how your icecream is being made.

This is the only rolled Thai style ice cream you can find in Ithaca and probably the only one I know if in central New York. They don't have this in Syracuse. I'm from San Jose where they have tons of these places and I'm aware New York City has a ton but it isn't fair to review a place and compare it to places where people can't drive to get to it easily. That's why I'm giving this place a 4! I tried number 2 & 7 on their menu (strawberry fields and some green tea one). The strawberry fields was described as vanilla with strawberry but I didn't realize the strawberry would be chopped into the vanilla on the cold stone making the ice cream more of a strawberry than a vanilla. I thought both the green tea and strawberry tasted great. Mine had blackberry listed but I only got one blackberry. The rolls take up a lot of the cup so there is almost no room to add toppings. The toppings are scarce but I'm ok with that since I like ice cream more than I like toppings. The only way this place could improve would be to have seating indoors or outdoors. There is a wooden bench and two chairs indoors but no tables and no inviting space to sit. It is definitely a tiny shop but I think the front could fit a small table for some indoor dining (especially on nights where it's cold outside). The interior could also use some more decorative appeal. The photos of the ice cream options posted weren't very good quality photos and didn't sell the ice cream well. The ice cream looks better in real life than the photos in the windows present.

Ice cream is a welcome addition to the commons! 15 Below is Thai-style rolled ice cream. It's prepared right in front of you on a frozen pan: fruit of your choice mixed in to the cream, smoothed flat, frozen, then rolled up and served with fresh fruit and whipped cream toppings. Upsides: People were friendly, ice cream was tasty, fruit was fresh, and the process was fun to watch. Downsides: Only one size, one price, which was roughly equivalent to a large bowl of ice cream. Too much for one full-size person, let alone a child. No vegan ice cream available - they only use Byrne dairy ice cream base. Hopefully as they grow, they'll add options. Bottom line: Worth a visit.

#5: YUM! It's actually a lot of ice cream and they added real fruit on top which is a plus. I think it's worth the price.

The previous reviews are really negative, but I really enjoyed this place. I went with a very large group, about 30 people, and we got served nice & fast. Everyone enjoyed our ice cream. If you want regular hard ice cream with a variety of flavors or a typical soft serve, this isn't the place to go. But if you like unique flavors & atmosphere, come here. It's also fun to watch the ice cream being made. I will definitely go back!!

They do a show so it's interesting, unique.

The ice cream is good, unique but takes longer than advertised, so if you want to try make sure you are not in a hurry. Other than that the price is good and it's definitely entertaining.

The green tea ice cream was not too bitter and. Instead fairly sweet - definitely worth trying!

I got the chocolate soft serve with rainbow sprinkles and it was the perfect sweet treat. If you only want a little something, you can get a kids size like I did, but they also have small, medium, and large sizes too. One thing to know is that it is cash only. If you do not have cash, they may offer an IOU like they did for us. There is an ATM next door, but I had issues with it not accepting my card, and my friends had the same problem, so I ended up paying in quarters. They were very kind and patient about it though. The line can get pretty long, but it moves quickly, so it is not a bad wait at all. It would be nice if there was more seating, especially since so many people come here, but overall it is still a really great stop for ice cream.

I am partial to soft serve but have tried both their hard icecream and soft serve. I prefer their soft serve but wish they had more flavors. I tried the classic chocolate twist and the two berry twist soft serves. In the two berry twist, I didn't like the pink flavor- it was too icy and more like a sorbet/dole whip than true soft serve. I liked the purple flavor thought! Overall, I still frequent Sweet Melissa's for softserve close to Cornell! Would recommend!

One of walked two blocks north to get ice cream to top it off! Good plan, because parking here is tricky. (They also serve lots of lunch options, but that wasnt our target today.) (Jul 2026) It's a classic place for families. It's very popular, and yet was pretty quick even with the line of customers. Of about 25 classic and creative flavors, we went for a cup of vanilla with bittersweet chocolate shavings. When the rest of our group showed up, we built our treasured treat on the nearby Cayuga Trail, with a view of the inlet. They always say, look for the crowded places to find good treats. Bingo!

The line was pretty long and service wasn't the best on this side but that gave me some time to peruse the flavors. They have some flavors all the time and then some seasonal rotating flavors. I went for one classic (cookie dough after dark) and one seasonal (salted butterscotch brownie) and both were absolutely delicious! So creamy and flavorful. My husband ordered a scoop of chocolate peanut butter and a scoop of mint chocolate chip and enjoyed both of them as well. We would come back here for sure...thank you, Purity Ice Cream!

Excellent baked goods. Lively atmosphere…read more We wanted some fast, indulgent takeout (Jul 2026). We hit the very cute Ithaca Bakery on Meadow at Court. I think that's called the Washington Park neighborhood, or west-Downtown. For pickup, we parked on Meadow. To eat in, there's a pretty large parking lot on Court Street. We saw what looked like more than 40 pastries in the display case, more than 15 bagel varieties, smoothies, teas, lemonade, and a host of creative coffee beverages. Of course, i got an espresso, neat. Rich, dense, dark, hot, perfectly drawn. And a regular Americano with oat milk. Fresh and tasty. Got a generously decorated well-crisped BLT to-go. We split that enormous blueberry, strawberry, kiwi tart. I wont even tell you what we added on top, but i'll say it was nearly next door ;-) Quick friendly service. The happy chatter of well-caffeinated well-sugared people. We even saved a fellow pastry-aficionado from forgetting their purse!

The coffee is also delicious and didn't even need a flavor added. The man taking our orders the first day was also incredibly kind and you could tell he just enjoyed his job, or at least was happy to be there. There's also a mini shop here basically. There's fresh bread and prepackaged meals here like Shepards pie and fruits and veggies. There also was plenty of cute merch and I left with two designs. Two things that I didn't like. Ordering was a bit chaotic. There are labeled areas that show where to order what, but if it's your first time in it can feel overwhelming and you might be wandering a bit figuring it out. I wish it could all be ordered at one spot, not like it's a food hall. I understand that this probably does work the best for them though and is most likely pretty easy for ordering if you're a local. Lastly, I had an issue with a woman working the second day. They have a big menu and I was looking at it above her head while ordering. She was fine while I was talking, but stopped me when I went to walk away. She said "You know, you really need to face people while you're talking to them." What! So awkward and weird. That's the main reason I took one star off because it caused me not to go back again. Very rude and felt like a mini lecture for no reason.
