I was excited to try rolled ice cream for the first time but even for not having it before, this rolled ice cream was subpar. Sure the fruit was good and thrown on top, but the icecream barely tasted like green tea and melted pretty fast and they place a full stale Oreo on top like an afterthought. Pretty pricey for what you get. Service was okay at best, you just say what you want, pay then leave. I'm not sure I'll be returning here since there are ton others nearby but I wanted to give this a try since I walked past it everyday. read more

I haven't written a review in a long time. After what I experienced at this restaurant a few hours ago, I dug through my old passwords and revived this Yelp account because of how shocking my experience was. Food: The ice cream isn't that great. It's overly sweet and the flavors are fairly monotone. Service: Despite paying for my ice cream, I felt like the server taking my order was doing me a favor. The server glared at me when I walked in. After I got my ice cream, I asked for an extra spoon as I wanted to share it with a friend. The server refused to give me another spoon, despite having already paid $6.25 for a somewhat small cup of ice cream. A small shop by the ithaca commons downtown area. Its a lovely shop to get some ice cream. You do have to waste $10 to use your credit card, so carry at least 6 dollars if you want to buy some ice cream. They have at least 5 to 6 different choices, and you can add and choose other toppings as well (the price may increase). The only reason that i am giving this place 4 stars was the toppings. In my ice cream, it included gummy bears. As i bit into the gummy bears they were so stale and dry that i could barely eat it. Overall i would this is place to check out. Went for bubble tea today. Would have rated lower, but perhaps their ice cream has more potential. I ordered the Original Milk Tea, but after repeating 3x, they still got my order wrong and I was given the strawberry one. At $3.50, I wasn't going to make a big deal, but then they informed me of the $10 min for card! It was my fault for not noticing, so be prepared and bring cash. I ordered another Original Milk Tea and the 4 pc buns. They would take 10 mins so I waited outside and tried the tea. Honestly couldn't get through half. Both were powder-based- mixed w/ hot water and ice....wasn't hot or cold...lukewarm with a strange thick consistency- not good. I guess you get what you pay for. This is the only rolled Thai style ice cream you can find in Ithaca and probably the only one I know if in central New York. They don't have this in Syracuse. I'm from San Jose where they have tons of these places and I'm aware New York City has a ton but it isn't fair to review a place and compare it to places where people can't drive to get to it easily. That's why I'm giving this place a 4! I tried number 2 & 7 on their menu (strawberry fields and some green tea one). The strawberry fields was described as vanilla with strawberry but I didn't realize the strawberry would be chopped into the vanilla on the cold stone making the ice cream more of a strawberry than a vanilla. I thought both the green tea and strawberry tasted great. Mine had blackberry listed but I only got one blackberry. The rolls take up a lot of the cup so there is almost no room to add toppings. The toppings are scarce but I'm ok with that since I like ice cream more than I like toppings. The only way this place could improve would be to have seating indoors or outdoors. There is a wooden bench and two chairs indoors but no tables and no inviting space to sit. It is definitely a tiny shop but I think the front could fit a small table for some indoor dining (especially on nights where it's cold outside). The interior could also use some more decorative appeal. The photos of the ice cream options posted weren't very good quality photos and didn't sell the ice cream well. As a visitor from NYC, it's very obvious that this ice cream shop's name is a copy of the 10 Below ice cream shop located in NYC Chinatown. Make no mistake, this shop is far from the same service, quality and flavors offered by the original 10 Below. The ice cream is not bad but rather a no frill experience compared to the NYC or Flushing, Queens locations. As for the naming the shop, if you're going to sell Thai inspired ice cream, at least be more creative in making up a name. read more

Ice cream is a welcome addition to the commons! 15 Below is Thai-style rolled ice cream. It's prepared right in front of you on a frozen pan: fruit of your choice mixed in to the cream, smoothed flat, frozen, then rolled up and served with fresh fruit and whipped cream toppings. Upsides: People were friendly, ice cream was tasty, fruit was fresh, and the process was fun to watch. Downsides: Only one size, one price, which was roughly equivalent to a large bowl of ice cream. Too much for one full-size person, let alone a child. No vegan ice cream available - they only use Byrne dairy ice cream base. Hopefully as they grow, they'll add options. The previous reviews are really negative, but I really enjoyed this place. I went with a very large group, about 30 people, and we got served nice & fast. Everyone enjoyed our ice cream. If you want regular hard ice cream with a variety of flavors or a typical soft serve, this isn't the place to go. But if you like unique flavors & atmosphere, come here. It's too pricey, bad service, extra fruits portion is way much smaller than the picture shown, no seat, chair, table for customer at all in the place. The staff yelling at me and not willing to sell. I also added 1.50 dollar for extra fruits but it too small for the price and in the picture shown, they make you think you will get big fruits pieces and berry, but in fact, I just got only 30 percent of each pieces instead. And I would asked for caramel, she said it will come with it, I will get it, but actually, I did not get it. So make me really disappointed. All 3 staffs, the cashier, the chef and the chef's helper are not tried to talked to customer during waiting for chef prepared the ice cream. They all are look like Vietnames/Chinese and they spoke a lot conversation of Vietnamese to each other during serving me, in front of me, without talking to me. The ice cream was really good and creamy but the toppings were just thrown on randomly. My friend got the same matcha order as me but without peaches and we were in a group of 10. When the lady called for the matcha, we asked if that one had peaches and she said no BUT another one of my friends witnessed the people making the ice cream squish the peaches into the ice cream so it was blended. Then when my order came, it also had no peaches. I told her that I ordered it with some, and then she said something it Vietnamese with a really rude tone to the other two men working there and then dropped a peach into my ice cream. I had started seeing these videos of creating these ice cream rolls popping up on my Facebook. I was intrigued. Then we visited Ithaca and there it was, right in their Commons. There is a menu of about 6 ice cream options, each with their own toppings, but from what I could tell, you could customize your toppings to your tastes as well. My husband and I shared a Matcha ice cream with lychee and other fruit. It was fun to watch the process of them pouring the liquid ice cream onto the freezing disc, spread it thin and peel it off the disc into rolls. The ice cream was flavorful, but not anything amazing. You are really paying the unique experience and presentation here, but I thought it was worth it. Not sure if this ice cream concept will last, but it is fun for now. read more
