First time being here! I didn't realize it was a sports bar with batting cages and you had to reserve them

I was impressed. I thought the performers were awesome, especially the fire dancers. Just really awesome and the dancers were enthusiastic which made for a better performance. I thought the audio was a bit off. The volume was crazy loud to fill the huge tent but it was hard to hear the individual voices of the narrators. So maybe something to boost the midrange a bit in the balance of the sound system or whatever. I'm not a sound engineer. So if you're visiting Kauai and are looking for a lu'au, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Kalamaku. I think you'll have a good time.

I feel like if this is your first luau, it's worth the price, but I would not pay the same amount to attend a second time. They have a pretty good variety, and number of vendors stationed in their outdoor area. The items sold range from sweets, to jewelry, to little knick-knacks. It's a pretty good selection of things for people looking to buy gifts to bring back home. The ambiance is very lively and enjoyable however at times it felt a little too lively since there were a good amount of kids running around. It would've been fantastic if there existed the option to attend a child-free luau. How enjoyable the event is would also depend on where people are seated. People on the outskirts of the stage would have a harder time being able to listen and watch the show, while people closer to the stage would have an amazing time. My party got to have both experiences since we were initially seated on the outskirts and were brought closer to the center. It really upgraded the experience. The food was pretty hit or miss. Some of it was pretty good, specially for the catering style service, while other dishes were less than average. The drink options weren't the best. If you've a sweet tooth the open bar would be fantastic, though, as all their options were definitely on the sweet side. It would be nice to be able to opt out of the open bar, or have more options for those that want less sugar with their alcohol. Between all the good and the bad, I think this totals out to a very average luau experience. 3/5

Kōloa Rum Company - Me enjoying my "travel" Mai Tai which I enjoyed right in front of the store. I didn't make it far in my travels.

I noticed this place was nearby, so a group of us grabbed a quick and inexpensive Uber over there. There are several shops in the area, but the main gift shop here was definitely worth the stop. They had a huge selection of merchandise along with just about every rum they make from mini sampler bottles to full 750 mL bottles. One of the best surprises was finding out they offer a free rum tasting every hour. We happened to arrive about five minutes before the next one started, so we joined in. The bartender running the tasting was fantastic... super knowledgeable, funny, and engaging. He made the whole experience a lot of fun, even for people in our group who weren't big rum drinkers. After the tasting, all of us ended up back in the gift shop buying something, whether it was rum, shirts, hats, or souvenirs. Since I live in California, I checked Total Wine online while we were there to see which bottles were available back home so I wouldn't have to pack everything in my luggage. I was pleasantly surprised they carried quite a few of their products. I ended up buying several of the mini bottles that aren't sold in California, along with a hat and T-shirt. Before heading back, we grabbed some pineapple ice cream from the stand outside while waiting for our Uber, which was the perfect way to end the visit. We all had a great time here, and I'd definitely recommend stopping by if you're in the area, even if rum isn't usually your thing.

We signed up in the shop area an hour before and they just checked our IDs and added us to the list. Our host Randy was super engaging and very informative, taught us a lot about the Koloa rum company, history, and great stories around the flavors! We tried the white rum, the coconut rum, the mai tai mixer, and we ended up buying some minis to take home. I liked learning about the history and the alcohol itself - it's made out of pure Hawaiian sugar cane instead of molasses so the taste is super clean. The tasting experience is free but of course cash tips are encouraged. They had some chairs inside but overall it's a mostly standing room only. I would honestly not mind coming back on a different day, since we heard the tastings are different!

Kauai War Memorial Convention Hall - Outside front

    Kauai War Memorial Convention Hall

The hall is in a good location, with lots of parking. We had some difficulty finding it, though,…read morebecause coming off of Rice Street, there is no street sign, and the street has a different name on the other side of Rice (Kalena). The hall is rectangular, much longer than wider. The facility is accessible. The entire place showed its age but was neat and clean. It looked as though the space within could be divided. There was a kitchen area. The floors were bare tile. The major issue we encountered was air conditioning. We were there for a well-attended event on a hot mid-September day. The A/C vents, however, seemed to be located only at one end of the building, and it wasn't where we were. That end of the building was very comfortable. The section next to it was okay if you weren't moving too much. The section we were in, farthest away from the vents, was pretty miserable. They tried to keep the doors closed and the A/C in, but even if they had been successful, I'm not sure it would have helped. Most people spent a lot of time fanning themselves. Also the acoustics were not good for an event like this, with lots of people talking. It was difficult to hear and be heard, given all the noise. Then they piped music over standing speakers and we had to yell to be heard. It would probably be fine if there was only one source of sound at a time, like one person speaking, everyone listening to the same music, etc. Load-in and out was easy due to multiple doors in the sides and end. There was a theater at the end we were near, but it was closed, so I can't tell you what it was like inside although outside of it was very hot, since there were no A/C vents. It looked as though the theater had been added at a later time.

The Convention Hall is a multi-purpose facility that's great for hosting parties (birthdays,…read moreweddings, etc.). Every time I go there it's always for that specific reason. Driving in from Hardy street, you have a massive uncovered parking. There's a chain link fence that separates the lot from the Hall, so you have to find the niche in which it opens toward the entrance. Walking into the ballrooms, you have are immediately struck by the size of the place. If you've seen the space from end-to-end and not separated by dividers, you'll know what I mean by it! This place is mostly for space rental - there's no catering or staff that services the hall and must be provided by the party. You do have the general necessities to host a party, and that includes a sink, bar, fridge, cupboards, a stage and bathrooms. I was fortunate enough to host a First Birthday Party at the Convention to 'test' out the acoustics of the room. Depending on the amount of sound generated from whatever speaker system you have, it can only travel so far. Also right next door to the Ballrooms, you have a Theater that's host to other grand productions (concerts, plays, pageants, etc.). I've only taken a peek in there once but it's a pretty decent size! Overall: Great Place to host parties and other events

When my wife and I decided to do a destination wedding in Hawaii, we had no clue where to start. I started out researching photographers and ministers, when I contacted Aloha Ever After and spoke with Timory, I just knew this was the right company and the right people to make our wedding the best it could be. We set our wedding date for Dec.9,2018. (I know, I unintentionally procrastinated with my review.) But our experience was phenomenal and the memory stays with us every day. Timory did an incredible job helping us with information to get the marriage license, flowers, suggested accommodations in the area and even provided great options for the ceremony. after seeing Shipwrecks Beach, we chose that as the place to start our new life. We arranged to have her partner/Husband Joel perform the ceremony and Timory on photography. They were both awesome to work with, in tune with our wishes and exceptional with assisting us the whole way. The ceremony was beautiful, we did a sand ceremony as well and all of the photos were absolutely breathtaking! One of my outstanding memories during the ceremony was Timory asking us to pause briefly to look into the ocean, there was a Manta Ray lingering just off the beach, in front of our location, she said that was a rare occurance at that beach, in fact, she said she hadn't seen that in 20 years of performing weddings at that beach, the locals at the Tidepools restaurant all concurred and didn't believe it until I showed them the photo. we chalked it up as the spirit of our lost loved ones joining our special moment. that was super cool to experience. I truly can't say enough about Aloha Ever After, The prices were more than reasonable, the help with planning was priceless, the team of Timory and Joel and the overall experience is something I'll never forget. We've returned once to revisit for our anniversary and to reflect on the memories. We hope to go again someday to renew our vows and you know my first call will be to Aloha Ever After! Thank You for a job well done!
