They can be a bit hit and miss when it actually comes to turning up, but usually they're ok if you've booked for a specific time, but if you're in a rush on a Friday or Saturday evening and you don't live in a busy area, you may be waiting a while! The drivers will usually pick the longest fare so they get the most out of it and despite it being illegal, trying to get a cab after a night out on Friday and Saturday (not to mention public holidays) can be a nightmare as the drivers look for the best fares. Also, it's best if you have a general idea of the route you want to take as some of the drivers obviously haven't looked at a map in a long while and will tend to get a bit lost if it's not an obvious location. Taxis Combined is connected to Silver Service and the other companies, so when you book with them you could end up with any of them depending on who's about your area. Oh and if you're a pedestrian about to cross at the lights and it's going red, if you see a taxi approaching, just take a step back because it's unlikely to stop until it's definitely red!

Nigel showed up at our arranged spot at our arranged time and proved to be more tour guide than shuttle service. After he packed our group and loads of luggage into his roomy van, he headed for the airport. pointing out interesting sites and landmarks along the way.When we mentioned that we had hours to kill at the airport before our international flight, he suggested taking a leisurely route through Sydney's interesting neighborhoods, and along the coast to well-known beaches and hidden coves. Living in North Bondi, my frugal heart skipped a beat when I learned that I could get to the airport by van for $20 (YES, TWENTY DOLLARS). Just to make things crystal clear, the bus+train route costs the same amount of money, but takes 1.5 hours. A taxi takes the same amount of time, but costs $65+. And this? Just call the mobile number, give them your address, and be outside 5 minutes before your scheduled pick up. Pay $20. Life = changed. A few things to note: they only leave once an hour. Cash only. They are always 5 minutes early. Sometimes there are a few pick-ups. The more people you have, the more money you save. All Eastern suburbs are serviced - some do cost a bit more. It's got the lot, incredible value, never to be repeated again: views (including water views and Harbour Bridge views), close to transport (yeah, literally, but ferries, f(r)eeway and buses are also not far away), close to shops (a couple of restaurants and cafes down there), heritage building, lifts built-in, gardens at your (non-existent) door-step. The list goes on. It also has got two bathrooms, an unknown number of rooms (probably more than your average home), but no parking spaces and no swimming pool:( Ok, in terms of real estate value I've lied a bit here. Circular Quay station is equally good (just see my review of it). The best part of this is you get to enjoy this value every time you check in here, and it only(!) costs you the price of a CityRail ticket. The interesting thing with the transport hub 'Milsons Point station' is that you won't even really notice it's there. Once you step out of the station building, which on its ground level really is just an arch-way under the extension of our Harbour Bridge, you're either in Kiribilli village, or Bradfield Park. From either side, it's just a stone's throw to the harbour. One last breath of harbour air. Breath-in...aaaahh fresh air: "Please stand clear. Doors closing." Oi, bummer.
