Its is a great spot to catch up with family and friends and "break bread". The rest of my family had a variety of fried fish, salads, wings, and such. So if you are in town check them out and you wont be disappointed!

There were people drinking, chatting, standing, sitting, and two bartenders trying to keep it all going. I got one's attention and she let me sit in the back room, where there are some tables, couches, a TV.... all while a live band set up in the front room. That kind of atmosphere. To her credit, the bartender kept up with me and the food arrived quickly. Appetizers are expensive, entrees are cheap, but I saw a lack of portion size. Great hushpups, which I dipped in the comeback. Good "local pond-raised catfish" but would have been better with two filets like most places provide. And more dipping sauce for everything. The slaw wasn't as great as she suggested, or as plentiful. Finally, the bar: As I said, it's kind of divey. No craft or local beers on tap. But that's not unexpected. Just forewarning you. Verdict: Come for the ambiance more than the rest, but the rest isn't bad either.

The appetizers were great and I thought it was a cool spot to get a drink and watch the game. I came back to the same spot Feb 2026 and I must say ordering my own food let me know the variety of what they offer. The buffalo chicken dip was excellent with the chips. My nephew and niece enjoyed the tuna. The platter of crawfish was astounding and I could see why it was a favorite. My salad was so hearty that I couldn't even finish it all. I see why this place is a local favorite! The seating allowed for cozy date type as well as a get together fun type. The owner was very personable and well liked by the patrons.

When it came to service however, it was severely lacking. Slow, understaffed and rude. I like to look at how a restaurant or bar's higher staff treat their employees. Bar Fontaine's managing staff should be VERY ashamed. I heard management tell off a server and bartender for making a very basic mistake and when I asked them how they liked working there, they simply replied "if I could do it over I would." According to them, the management is super nice to the customers but not to the employees constantly starting drama and making it difficult for an employee to keep their job. The head chef is also apparently a real a-hole and says inappropriate suggestive comments to their female staff as well, the server was telling me. When I was walking out of the hotel on the last day of my stay I encountered one of the managers and talked to them to see how they would treat me. It was an older woman with glasses. She treated me like an old friend which normally I would have enjoyed but this time I was absolutely disgusted. Just from what I was told, I will not be giving service to them again and will not stay at the hotel.
