12/10 is a trendy and not so-formal nor non-traditional Izakaya that serves both omakase (₱4200 per person) and regular ala carte izakaya. Equipped with a full bar with a variety of Japanese whisky and a selection of other beverages. Reservation required if ordering omakase and that is what we went for. We get a private booth in the back that seats 8 to 10 people. Omakase differs month to month. This is May 2023 menu. 10 dishes total. All served on a small plate style. First 5 are light and finger food style. Last 5 are considerably supposed to make you full but to me, it's just enough. Here comes the food... in order of when it arrives. Red snapper - wrapped bokchoy, strawberry, chili, ponzu Spicy ebi - negi, yuzu, nori Uni toast - chicken liver, pineapple jam, shiso Salmon sashimi - juniper, cream, egg yolk Eggplant - miso, pinipig, herbs Yakitori - takana, Karachi, fukikake Sea bass katsu - curry, fennel, tomato, parmigiana foam Kurobuta - mushroom, mizuna, dashi, pear Wagyu - roasted leeks, uni and cauliflower puree The best part of the dishes that I ate is the uni toast and the curry from the sea bass katsu. 11/10 For dessert.. I recently tried Yardbird in HK and was blown away with every dish that we ordered. Needless to say, I was hung over on one of the best meals of my life for a very long time. It kind of got me sad knowing that I would never experience the same back here in Manila. But then my fiancé took me to 12/10. In the middle of rough-on-the-edges Guijo is this swanky enclave seemingly plucked out of New York - or to be nearer, Sheung Wan in HK. The servers describe the place as a "different kind of izakaya" and I was reminded of Yardbird right way. Will the food remind me of my current favorite restaurant too? THANK GOODNESS IT DID. We ordered six plates of random whatevers and what stuck to my food buds' memory the most were the tuna salad and katsu bao. Can't wait to go back for these! Everything (food, decor, the way the servers interacted) felt like a mish-mash of all the good restaurants I've tried abroad. And I guess that's what makes 12/10's presence in the Manila food scene a big hit - it is a reminder that we can be at par with other cosmopolitan cities; or better yet, it is a sign of how cool Manila really is now. read more

After scouring the Internet for a girl's night out location, I stumbled across 12/10 and knew immediately that was our place. It had everything we were looking for, a great drink list, a mouthwatering menu and a casual yet designer vibe. Located in off the beaten path San Antonio Village in what looks like a residential space along Guijo Street, 12/10 is in the perfect location for their offering. The interiors are what an architect might dream up, simple and clean with polished cement floors, white walls, subtlety placed art and high ceilings. 12/10 presents itself as a modern take on an izakaya. A Japanese term for watering hole serving small bites to accompany drinks, 12/10 takes this concept and executes it superbly. Forget the wings and greasy foods, think melt in your mouth salmon, seared just enough to create a charred flavor and seasoned with a beautiful mix of truffle oil and spices, topped with corn flakes. It all sounds odd, but I assure you it was delightful, a perfect balance of flavors and textures. Next up was another salmon dish, blowtorched salmon topped with uni, caviar and nori with a splash of ponzu served on a shisho leaf. This tasted as beautiful as it looked. Karrage, a fresh take on an izakaya staple, this dish was a display of tender and juicy chicken with a crispy exterior coated in Korean gochujang sauce atop a smear of charred egglplant, simply divine. The piece de resistance was the Toro Onigiri: foie gras, negi, dynamite and balsamic maple syrup; so decadent, but worth every bite. In line with its reputation, 12/10 did not disappoint. Add in the hug selection of whisky's and the beautifully handcrafted cocktails, 12/10 is my new favorite restaurant. 12/10 offers what any drinking hole has, small bites and lots of drinks, but with creativity and panache, a hipster's take on an Izakaya. read more

Tucked away in a dark fold of Makati is 12/10, an izakaya-inspired degustation run by The Girl + The Bull's power couple, Gab Bustos and Thea de Rivera. The restaurant in fact is named after the two's anniversary. Dining is truly made an experience in 12/10: it holds a spontaneous element such that it does not receive reservations, its servers are all refreshingly pleasant and accommodating, and its space - simple and mildly, artily decadent - can easily seep into conversation. It can get pretty packed, so expect to wait; it'd be good to come early. I recommend checking out Restock Curiosities next door, a quaint little shop and café, while waiting. As for the food, 12/10 boasts a menu of twelve, sorted by serving size. Each dish is awe-inspiring. My favourite is the Raw Tuna Salad. The Salmon Kushiyaki comes as a close second. Meanwhile drinks are on-point, and I expect to see them flourish in that department. 12/10 is a fine example of the elevated standard Manila should soon look forward to. read more

Some people have been calling this the "cheaper Mecha Uma", which is somewhat true since it really is much much cheaper. I don't think they copied each other's concept but maybe the timing was just a coincidence. 12/10 is an Izakaya restaurant so the meals they serve are tinier than usual. They may all seem like they're just appetizers but if you eat it in the order that is recommended (one to four/lightest to heaviest), you'll still be able to get full with it. Tho usually, you'll probably end up ordering almost everything on the menu. I actually enjoyed all the food but what stood out the most for me is the Toro onigiri. I mean you put sushi with foie gras?? How can you not love that?? When I first ate here, I stayed at the bar. It's a good experience too because you get to chat with their bartender who is so friendly and accomodating. He had some interesting stories to share while mixing our drinks that night. I'm not sure why the menu of 12/10 isn't accessible online, but I have to start off by saying that my experience here wasn't noteworthy, and I doubt I would go out of my way to come here again. Being in the area is another story. Nevertheless, I was happy to experience what 12/10 had to offer with my best girlfriends in the world. As per usual, we wanted to try something new so one of the girls suggested 12/10. We made a reservation and made the journey to Makati from Ortigas. The beer was pretty good, and that's rich coming from a non-beer drinker. As regards the food, it was unremarkable. Very small servings for very significant prices. If you're starving, you would not only be pissed off after your meal, but broke too. Haha. Nevertheless, if you're on the lookout for a unique dining experience or want to take your date somewhere different, this is where it's at. Just not for me I guess. read more

I went here for dinner expecting a really great meal as it was recommended to me by a friend who had eaten here several times already. The setting was nice and the cocktails we ordered in advance were pretty good. It was alright and just seemed slightly above average in the end. I liked the décor and overall vibe of the place though. The servers were polite and helpful. They seemed to be knowledgeable about the food and drinks menu. Whoever created the cocktail menu has good taste and I noticed that the bar was stocked with a decent selection of bourbon and whiskey. The food was a bit expensive though so I probably won't be coming back to dine here unless it's a special occasion. However, it wasn't too bad and the ambience and cocktail menu is worth returning to for a night out. read more

Tucked away in guijo Street is this gem of a restaurant. A heads up this is not a traditional Japanese restaurant. You want that then go to either nihon or kikufuji. However, if you are looking for a different take on Japanese cuisine in a very modern and hip setting, then this is it. What to expect at this restaurant? Tapas style dishes which are meant to be shared two persons max. We took recommendations of the raw tuna and salmon kushiyaki(?) which were quite delicious. Notable was the salmon which had an almost satay taste to it. We had the main course of rib eye and it was cooked quite well. The onigiri at the end was tasty, however perhaps maybe less mayonnaise would help as it was quite overpowering. The dessert was also super delicious! Didn't try the cocktails but they had a decent beer selection. My only downside? It's a bit pricey, you can easily rack up the bill here but delicious otherwise! read more

Before even going to 12/10, a lot have been warning me to prepare my wallet because it will cost around PHP1000 per head. They all were right. When I got there, the server already warned me that the serving size is small so there will be a tendency where I'll get to order the whole menu. He was also right. I basically ordered almost all the dishes. When I ate here, I was told that the menu is still new so a lot will change still. And since I got to order almost all dishes, I can freely share with you what I think about them. Out of everything I ordered there are two dishes that I felt I shouldn't have ordered. For one thing, I listened to the suggestion of the server and the two things he mentioned I was disappointed. Do not attempt to get the Brussels Sprouts (it only looks pretty in picture) and Raw Tuna Salad (it was okay, nothing great and definitely not parallel to how much is costs). I was impressed with the Mackarel Ceviche, Blowtorched Salmon and the Korean Fried Chicken. Order a drink or two to complement your dinner - I fancied a Tom Collins that night. I liked it so much I got another glass! 12/10 is a good place to try but not budget friendly at all. Man oh man, this place is great! Definitely a must try for those foodies who are looking something a little different than the traditional fair. A little tricky to get to if you're using Waze or Google Maps cause they make you turn left instead of right (coming from Sacred Heart St). Then again Guijo St is 2 blocks so you'll definitely find 12/10. Parking is on the street so practice your parallel parking, kids! I've been lucky enough dine here three times and I've found myself almost always ordering the same thing (unless they change the menu). The orders are small plates so they are definitely made to share and try a lot of different things. So far I've tried the spicy tuna salad, mackerel ceviche, scallops with beets, blowtorched salmon, salmon kushiyaki, wagyu, chicken karaage, and the toro onigiri. The spicy tuna salad was great! Instead of the usual tempura bits, seaweed, tobiko, and cucumbers were used for the crunch factor making it a more refreshing dish. The mackerel ceviche was not to sour which allowed us to savor the coconut flavor of the dip. The scallops were perfectly cooked although I thought with the beets, they were kinda bland. The blowtorched salmon was heaven. The combination of perfectly cooked salmon, uni, and caviar with the seaweed for crunch and shiso for the refreshing taste took away the overly briny taste of the uni. I didn't really enjoy the salmon kushiyaki cause I thought the salmon was overcooked when I had it. The wagyu was perfectly medium and great with or without the pumpkin dip. The chicken karaage was pretty standard although I didn't like the eggplant gochujang dip cause I don't really like eggplant in general. The toro onigiri was great except I don't think you'd know there was foie gras if you didn't look at the menu because I felt that the amount of cheese was overwhelming. Overall, I didn't really deviate from these dishes and the combination of any of them have always made for a great meal! They always seem to run out of the Coffee Old Fashioned... But their other drinks aren't bad at all. A couple I've gotten are an Old Fashioned with Four Roses and a special concoction called Fuck you, Daisy. Both were quite delicious and went great with my meals. It's fun to sit at the bar and watch the team make so many different drinks and just admire the selection of liquors they have on hand. If you sit at the corner you can also ask them to see their coffee table books on hang which include the Momofuku cookbook and the Shake book among other titles. The price is a little up there but you can't deny the quality of the ingredients in each dish. I wouldn't consider this specifically a date place but I imagine it's better to experience it with a small group of friends to maximize the experience. 12/10 coming back! (Does anyone get my jokes?
