But, with that being said I am very disappointed with the way that he has handled us as clients, and with COVID-19. Originally we could not get ahold of him for a little while when we first decided on him as a photographer but he reached out eventually so that it fine and I think we were just eager to get our engagement photos done so we wanted to get the ball rolling so it felt longer. Well we had our engagement pictures scheduled for the 9th of March, took a couple days to get a confirmation from him and then due to an unexpected schedule change I requested to change it to the 11th of March and he was fine with that (which we were very greatful for) The forecast said rain so he wanted to push the shoot and i took his advice (even though it was the one day of the week that it did not rain and was beautiful of course) and we rescheduled for April 15th. Then COVID-19 happened, I never received ANYTHING from him, I tried to reach out to confirm that the shoot was cancelled so that I didn't miss him being there if he was planning on keeping the shoot. I emailed him on the 13th and tried calling him and never got any response from him. From a business standpoint it was very disappointing for him to never even reach out and let his clients know that their appointments were going to be rescheduled. The courtesy of receiving anything from him would have been better than being left in the dark and not able to reach him. I tried to reach out again to touch base and inform him we were not going to be using him for our wedding anymore and his email is full. So I am assuming I am not the only one having this issue right now. Good reviews are not just about the end result. It is also about the customer service that you provide for your clients and this has definitely shown me a very unreliable side to to him and I would not want to rely on him for my big day in fear that he may disappear again.

It seemed to us that they only cared about our wedding until they got payed after that was tons of emails of me begging for our pictures and videos and them apologizing and asking for patience. Maybe my expectations were too high after seeing the pictures in their studio and website but don't expect your wedding pictures to be like that future brides.

So, apparently, Paul Bartels did not like my review. I sent him an email prior to my passing my…read morereview and received no response. I believe he is trying to reinvent himself by changing his online name. He now is on FB as Paul Bar! I would definitely NOT recommend him for wedding photography! First, he did not control the depth of field to get rid of items in the background that weren't necessary so that the focus is on the people in the pictures. Also, there are sunspots in the pictures, which were due to his not using a lens hood. He also didn't use a proper filter since there were blue skies that day but the sky looked gray. He took 13 photographs of the hummingbirds around our feeders and took NO photos of the swimming pool, which had colored underwater lights in place for this very special occasion; and the pool looked ethereal. His attention to detail is not what I would have expected from a professional photographer. For example, in the picture of the bride's wedding address laid out on our bed in the master bedroom, there was a pair of flip flops at the footboard of the bed. I don't know if that would have been something he would have edited out or not, since he performed minimal editing. At NO time did I ever convey that minimal editing should be done. I simply requested that we be provided the raw versions (far higher pixels) so that if I chose to do any editing myself, the quality would remain. The only thing I requested of him was to NOT include fake clouds. He assumed I didn't want editing and that certainly wasn't the case. So he was paid to do normal editing, which he didn't do. I also understand that with the wedding taking place at our house, he may have had more difficulty in positioning himself to take the best pictures. Rather than shoot the pictures of the procession from the house looking out over the hillside, he shot from the hillside looking into the house, which made for very uninspired photographs. While I realize that pictures are more difficult to take when it is dark, I believe there should have been accommodation for that with the lighting which he brought and set up. The lighting was not adequate to get the best pictures.
