Now I'll be the first to say, I'm pretty lost with profit/losses and book keeping, as I said it's my first time. For the past 8 years I've just used TurboTax for personal, but as I said, first time with a business. Initially you talk with someone over a chat, they ask you questions and you answer them and send them forms. They said they could do my profit/losses for me for about $75 extra, I was fine with it, figured it was worth learning how to do it. Took about a month but finally had my appointment to talk over video (30min). They were 6min late and obviously very tired. I truly felt bad for Yuliya as she seemed so exhausted. We spent the first 18min looking at the Dept. of Washington tax site and she was showing me how to fix my prior quarterly tax filings because she felt I had labeled my business incorrectly. After I showed her what I was doing, she changed her mind and said "I think you're actually fine and doing it right". So that left us 6 minutes to rush through my tax return before her next appointment. In the end I spent $350 to save $3 (the difference in number between what I got in TurboTax vs. having it done by Nationwide). For me, if I would have learned something about better tax reporting for the LLC, it would have been worth it. But it just felt very rushed, very impersonal and honestly I'd rather just go back to doing it myself.

I did not want to drive up to Vancouver. So we did everything by phone/zoom & electronically. Here is his process: I called Paul at a designated time, and we chatted for a bit. He then asked me some questions, and directed me to his online platform. Paul's tax prep "organizer" is awesome. Many of the same questions from our phone call were reiterated and then documentation for my answers requested immediately below. It made the process easy to understand and I could do it in bite-sized chunks. There is also a spot just to the right where you can see the full array of everything you've loaded so you don't have to scroll and peck to discover if you remembered to load a particular document. After I finished, I notified him and he came back with information that enabled me to save more on my return. Actually, that one piece of info ended up saving me a lot. Our wrap up zoom conversation was instructive and pleasant. Paul has the heart of a teacher, and he took me through the process step by step so I could see how all the calculations panned out. He also gave me information that will help for next year. I totally loved working with him and will absolutely recommend him to my friends.

I want to start by saying I do not appreciate how this situation has been downplayed. When I came in to have my taxes prepared, the printed documents I was given showed my refund being routed to my old bank account--not the new business account I had clearly requested. I even called to confirm this discrepancy, and I was told everything had been updated correctly and that a new copy simply wasn't printed to "save paper." Despite that reassurance, I later found out through the IRS that the account information was entered incorrectly. Not only was the wrong account used, but the last two digits were also switched. This error caused significant delays and complications with Refund Advantage, and I had to spend additional time trying to resolve something that should have been handled correctly from the start. Because of this delay, I had to postpone a planned move for myself and my daughters, which resulted in me losing my deposit on a new place. This situation directly cost me money. What's even more concerning is how this was handled when I reached out. Instead of taking responsibility, I was blamed. There was no acknowledgment of the mistake, no apology, and no effort to make things right. That level of customer service is unacceptable--especially considering I paid $675 for a professional service that was not executed properly. I requested a partial refund as a fair resolution, given the financial impact and inconvenience caused. I was told, verbatim, to "forget about it," and that I would not be receiving anything back. At this point, I will be moving forward with filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and am prepared to provide all documentation, including the printed forms and communication records. I also mentioned pursuing legal action because this situation has not been handled appropriately at any level. I would still prefer to resolve this directly, but the lack of accountability and communication has made that difficult.

We were referred to OD for our individual taxes by some good friends whom we trust deeply. Our…read moretaxes are more complex than I felt confident doing on my own with TurboTax or whatnot, and we wanted professional help. On our initial calls, OD gave us some great free advice on our situation, and quickly built trust. Unfortunately, all that trust was quickly flushed down the drain during the tax prep process. We were pawned off to another accountant, who was very unresponsive and the opposite of prompt. After getting them all of our information weeks before their requested deadline, then multiple emails, calls, and voicemails, we finally got a return call late in the evening only a few days before the filing deadline asking for more information. After this, we didn't receive our review copy of the return until the date of the filing deadline! We had hoped (and communicated the same to OD), to have our CFP (not from OD) review the return before filing, but didn't get this opportunity due to OD being extremely late with the draft. We barely got it in! The simple way to handle this would've been clear communication, an estimate of the taxes we owed, and a recommendation to file and extension. None of this happened. There was no apology or acknowledgment of this, just an impersonal request for feedback months later, and a surprisingly huge $3500 bill (!!) in July. They also promised to review our return with us after the fact and make some recommendations for our next-year tax planning, but never made good on this promise. Needless to say, we will not be using OD in the future. Take your business and dollars elsewhere.

They paired us up with a remote accountant who is never available to meet and won't call us back. Also very condescending. Before we realized what type of business O-D is, we included our daughter, a college student with a part time job, in the tax preparation services. They charged us $1500 to do her very basic taxes! Unbelievable! Under their watch we have to pay in more than we ever have in the history of our business. not personable, not accountable and not prompt. What more could you ask for?
