I used to work at a construction company cinderblocks are not 100% concrete blocks are a mixture of concrete Then they proceeded to do construction underneath my window for 212 days Table saw tub saw, saw partner saw Makita grinder, top pointing blades, cutting granite, slabs, handheld saws, vibrating the windows and vibrating the unit intensely for 30 to 60 days claiming this is all legal Could not sleep properly for the seven month rental the entire time The intense above Guantánamo Bay torture lasted for approximately 30 to 60 days Construction proceed for 200+ days... The Castlewood Apartments made a deal with the construction worker so they can live on site meaning the workers are living in the building and probably still are to this day What was done to me at the Castlewood Apartments was highly unacceptable It was legal the entire time torturing a torture victim, while taking money from them very insane behavior... The people who worked there are very nice people... The maintenance guy is one of the nicest people I have met in the state of Ohio who works there He's also probably underpaid and underappreciated They basically use him to do everything in the building and yes, he is a black man love all people just being honest how the maintenance man was being treated by the corporate office was very upsetting to me

I have lived in Castlewood for four years. There are several reasons I love living here:…read more- The apartments only share one wall with a neighbor. The master bedrooms are in the center and don't share a wall with neighbors. This helps keep it quiet. - The office staff is wonderful! Sherrie and Lisa are so kind and they always go the extra mile. They try to make the best experiences for residents hosting events, taking care of issues and constantly working to improve the building. If you have any issue, they take it seriously and do their best to handle it quickly. They take the time to get to know the residents and they really care about your experience here. - The maintenance team. Chris and Al are the best! Unlike other places I've lived, they really respect that your apartment is your home. They get to jobs quickly and always ask if there is anything else they can help with. Even if it's just a flickering lightbulb they get to it right away. - You can easily walk to all the best places on Detroit. We have underground parking - that is included in rent - so you don't have to worry about street parking.

Lake West Apartments - I miss living here.

The hardwood floors were redone before I moved in and that was a selling point. There is a weird little gargoyle. I tell myself that I live in a castle that I share with a bunch of other people. It is the truth so I believe it. One of the main reasons for living here was the close proximity to Edgewater Park and the Shoreway. It is really easy to get anywhere in the city from this point. I can get to the West Side Market in 5 minutes and Tremont in 7. It usually takes around 20 minutes to get Cleveland Heights area. My good old mom is only 2 and a half miles down the road in Lakewood so that is an added plus. If only you had the best mom in the world like I do!

I really love this building. It's a classic, Tudor style built in 1929. Gorgeous neighborhood…read more Beautiful street. The lobby of this building is very pretty. The front grounds are very well kept. Lawn is always trimmed, snow is always removed quickly. Obviously, I can only comment on my apartment. It is fricking lovely. I am seriously happy to pay my rent monthly. Beautiful hardwood floors. Pretty plaster walls. Updated kitchen. Fixtures are very pretty. View onto Lake Avenue is lovely. Let's talk parking garage. Wow. To say I was intimidated would be an understatement. I will have to add a photo. However... $50 a month to NOT have to find street parking every month... Priceless. Laundry facilities... Fair at best. I believe they found the smallest machines possible. And yes...$2.00 to wash, $1.75 to dry. Oy! And only three washers and three dryers. Many times, one machine is down. But usually repaired quickly. Oh! And they have a generous pet policy. Lots of bigger dogs. Nice to see! My standard poodle was welcomed with open arms. All in all... Great building. Mostly friendly folks. Great management staff (AZ Management). They are professional and responsive. I will seriously miss this place. Really. I only lived here for a year and moved out months ago, but I wish I could have stayed longer here!…read moreThe property has since changed management and undergone a full renovation, which is a big improvement compared to older reviews from years ago that I've seen. Miranda was excellent as she gave me a great tour, answered all my questions, and was always prompt and helpful. Chuck, the maintenance man, was also fantastic and consistently went above and beyond and so friendly. Laundry on the 3rd floor was fine, though it could definitely get busy at times in the evenings. Overall, I really don't have any complaints. The one bedroom apartment I rented was clean, spacious, and was on the more affordable side for Lakewood, especially being PRIME location.

Do not rent here. This place is the definition of putting lipstick on a pig. Poorly done…read morerenovations on a falling apart building. The location is great but that is the only positive about this complex! The worst thing about 1327 is the cockroaches. They are everywhere-- lights in the hallways, vents in your bathroom, everywhere!! We submitted multiple maintenance requests about this and very little was done. They put some traps in a few spots-- that does not solve the major infestation issue. Their maintenance request line is not run by AIY-- it is a third party company so getting in contact with anyone actually familiar with your building is always a struggle. We went without hot water multiple times. Most recently there was a four day stretch that they entire building had no hot water. AIY did a horrible job communicating with residents when the issue would be resolved. During the last two months that I lived here the complex's fire alarm went off late at night and we had to evacuate. We were never updated on why the alarm went off or what was being done to ensure it did not happen again (which it did several weeks later). The laundry unit (which they will tell you was recently updated) does not work. Your clothes will not dry unless you run the dryer multiple times--which becomes ridiculously expensive. We took our clothes to a laundromat the entire time we lived here. Our apartment had severe water damage near the windows in the living room both bedrooms. We submitted a request about this and someone checked it out, said they needed to follow up when it dried, and never did. There was mold growing on the carpet in one of the bedrooms due to a leak in the drywall and we were charged a $100 carpet cleaning fee upon move out for it. That is ridiculous as we submitted the maintenance request and the property did not do their job in fixing the issue and instead blamed the resident. Not only do I suggest staying far away from this unit but from any AIY property! They have a severe lack of communication, very low standards for the quality of their properties, and they are never helpful or accommodating when you reach out with an issue or concern.

I lived at Marine Towers West Apartments for three years. Unfortunately, I did not have a pleasant…read moreexperience. I would recommend trying to live at another apartment complex on Edgewater. Living at Marine Towers West was okay as long as I didn't not need any assistance with anything. On Dec 23,2021, when the garages collapsed everything changed. Around 1600,I received a called by management which asked if I cleared the building. When I asked what happened they said there is a small issue with the garage and that I would be unable to enter the building for now. I was told nothing further. I had to find out that the garages collapsed through google. I had to call off work and drove a few hours away and stayed with family. Once allowed back into the building there were many issues such as a huge lack of parking, family not feeling safe, friends not feeling comfortable visiting, and lots of construction (paint fumes coming into the apartment vents). I had a lot of trouble trying to find parking since I work 12.5 hour shifts. The apartment complex did offer transportation to off site parking for individuals that work a normal hours (6-8M-F). Unfortunately, I do not have a normal work schedule so I was not able to utilize the transportation services. Thus, I asked if I could move out early and I asked what the cost would be. The management stated I could move out early and there is no charge. However, when I went to put my notice in that I was moving out, management sent me paperwork to sign a few weeks later and stated I would have to pay the remaining lease obligations. When I asked why some of my neighbors were allowed to move out early but I wasn't. I had to email the office twice and the management took well over a week to respond and stated I could only move out early between March and April. Unfortunately, Claire never communicate any of these details to me. I was waitlisted when looking for apartments and then gone on military orders. So, now I am just going to have to keep feeling trapped in an unsafe apartment building. Also, any time maintenance needs to access your apartment which is multiple times a year they do not wear shoe protectors so dirt is frequently tracked in and trash usually gets left behind. I did reach out to the leasing office because one of my rugs was ruined, trash was left on the floor, and multiple lights were left on after maintenance came to work on the bathroom while I was at work. I never received a response from the leasing office regarding the matter. The apartments themselves are older and need to be remodeled badly but that's pretty typical for Lakewood. I just don't think the price charged for rent is worth it since the building is not adequately maintained. Plus, the poor customer service experience I received. I cannot recommend living here to anyone.

This is a remarkable place to rent! I've lived here for two years, and it'll be very hard to move…read moreaway. I live in a one bedroom, 1.5 bathroom by myself. It's very spacious! 920 square feet with plenty of closets for storage. Never had any issues with any appliances... I even have the vintage oven over stove, and it works like a gem! Location is awesome! Lucky's Market is less than a 5 minute drive... multiple grocery stores and CVS nearby. This building has extraordinary views of Lake Erie! Rooftop observation deck is great in the summer to relax. The outdoor pool is small, but it's solid as well. Great way to meet people in the building! There are also great parks nearby. Just a short bike ride away from Lakewood Park and Edgewater Park. Virtually no noise complaints on my end. I can only recall hearing loud neighbors above me once. Residents are very considerate for the most part. MTW is an HVAC building, but that's never been an issue for me. When it gets too hot in the summer in my unit, I crack my window. The breeze off Lake Erie cools off my apartment 90% of the time. Vice versa for winter. This building is insulated well. It's very refreshing coming home from a snowstorm, to a warm and cozy home. (I don't even use my heat for most of the year because it's so well insulated.) Maintenance is superb! Excellent at fixing things in the apartment, and very reliable as well. Other things that come to mind: -Washer and dryer on every floor -Covered parking available ($75.00 a month. A little pricey, but I splurged. Worth it in the winter.) -Senior Discounts -Gym with decent equipment -Party Room on top floor. (This can be reserved. Good space for entertaining.) -Dog Park and Dog Wash -You can buzz people in on your cell phone -Very friendly and helpful staff in the front office CONS: -Washers and dryers are a little pricey. $1.90 to wash and dry clothing. However, the machines are reliable. -Sometimes I get a cigarette like smell in my bathroom. Usually when I open the window, the smell goes away quickly. Once again, this is an outstanding place to rent. Considering MTW is surrounded by "luxury condos" on the Gold Coast, this place is such a rare find. A renters dream in my opinion!
