First time visit, I wanted to love this place. Both of the ladies did a great job and were very friendly. I got a gel pedi (requested a regular but think she gave me a deluxe). Got a dip mani and they are beautiful. Both took their time and did not rush. I did not see the prices posted, I should have asked as the bill was $127.50 for a gel pedi & dip mani!!! I usually go to the salon down the road and get the exact service for $90. Unfortunately I will not go back, as the competition does just as good of a job, but not as friendly . Not worth the extra money, I feel that I was taken advantage of. read more

I have been coming to #1 Nails & Spa for years. Owned by the husband and wife team of Kevin and Rose Tran, you won't find a harder working team than this! Walk-ins are available or you can call ahead for an appointment. They have even been known to open early if you need to get in before a special event. When you enter, you are greeted with a friendly smile and salutation and told to sign in. You choose your colors for manicures and pedicures and are then typically directed to one of the pedicure chairs or manicure stations. Rose is also an amazing eyebrow wax specialist. I typically get the French manicure with gel which is very strong and usually lasts longer than the recommended two weeks. The pedicures are amazing. They include a hot stone massage of your legs that feel very relaxing! The chairs are comfortable and in good condition and have settings for different massages that add to the experience. They also do acrylics and permanent make up! I am told that you can bring groups in for group pedicures and/or manicures which sounds like a great idea for my next girls outing! So, if you are looking for a complete nail and spa experience, go see Rose and Kevin. They will take care of you! read more

Regular Pedi took 20 minutes, I'm not a sissy by any means but he clipped my nails so short it hurt the flesh & kept cleaning super hard under my nails making me jerk several times. Very Limited topical petting like massage & just an all around awful $28 pedi. Been getting them done for over 25+ years so I know good vs bad. Unfortunately, I Can't recommend them. read more

Before I start, I want to make clear: I realize businesses are struggling right now, and that's why I debated whether or not to write this review. I decided to write it because I had been to this salon about 6 times (was trying to like it because it's close to my house) and the problem is not the quality of the job they do but the attitude they have and the astronomical prices they charge. I feel that I have given this business a fair chance to prove me wrong before going on here and writing a review. I am going to summarize my visit today to give an idea of the events that have led me to write a review. I made an appointment ahead of time and arrived. Upon arriving I was of course offered a pedicure and other options not scheduled that would jack up my bill and denied. I ask the nail tech to help me find a nice fall color and she instead shoves the color samples in my face and begins to do my nails. While I'm looking for a color (with one hand) she does not offer to pause doing my nails or help me look for a color, so I give up. As she's filing down my cuticles to do my fill in she cuts my cuticle (this is not the first time I've been cut here, I realize it happens) and proceeds to say I had a hangnail that bled, evading the fact that she cut me and I was profusely bleeding everywhere. We continue and I finally get to pick my colors. She notes that I need to be sure these are the colors I want because she cannot take off gel once she paints a nail, (this is not true I have been getting gel for a very long time and it can be wiped right off with acetone as long as it hasn't been put under the lamp yet) she cannot be bothered with changing out a color if I don't like it. While she's painting my nails, I notice one of the colors has pieces of dust and glitter in it, I say something, and she completely ignores me, so I repeat myself. I ask her again and ask if she had another bottle of the same color, she proceeds to say that there's nothing in the polish and she's just going to add another coat. While she is applying the topcoat, I notice that my nails were not dry and the polish was coming right off onto the topcoat brush, I politely ask for a second coat since this caused severe streaking. Finally, I get up to pay and am not at all eagerly helped, she had already moved on to the next customer. The price for a FILL IN with gel polish was SIXTY DOLLARS. Keep in mind this is not a frilly place, this is a small NO FRILLS nail salon in a strip mall in Alachua. I did not get any special design, just gel polish. To make sure I was not wrong about $60 being an astronomical price for a fill-in with gel polish I called two other nail salons that are frilly and was quoted $30 total for the same service both places. I want to reiterate that I understand this is a hard time for businesses. I took my time feeling out this nail salon and came back multiple times after other bad experiences to make sure my review was justified, and unfortunately it was. My first and last visit. I came in for a Pedicure and sat next to a Lady that had been in the chair for about 15 minutes before me. The guy rushed through my pedicure so fast the young lady next to me was still being worked on. When I was done.. Rose convinced me to get the Gel polish said it would last longer. I agreed(my fault) I didn't realize 18.00 for gel polish a total of $45.00 for a 10 minute pedicure. I should have known because she was so persistent at the point of almost harassing and the price was not posted. I feel robbed. read more

This is the first review that I've ever left on Yelp because my visit was that bad. My manicure paint started separating and looking wavy as soon as I left the salon. The gentleman that did my toenails and my pedicure was touching my feet like he had never seen cuticle skin before. I was too scared for him to paint my toenails and decided to just go with clear polish. The ends of my toes were jagged and the shape was not uniform. Literally the worst $36 I've ever spent in a nail place. Even in times when I've been less than satisfied at other nail salons I still leave a tip for effort. But there was no effort here and no accountability, don't waste your money. The first time in my 30 years that I haven't tipped a nail technician and didn't feel guilty at all. read more
