For instance, I purchased fabric on my first visit and they serged the edges for me so the piece wouldn't unravel, on my second visit a lady offered to help me pull thread for my project and made very helpful selections about replacements for colors they were out of. Everyone in the store takes an active interest in every customer, which is amazingly refreshing. I will not go anywhere else for my stitching needs from now on.

I had been on the hunt for a legacy stitcher who not only knew how to do the things, but the WHY for months, when I finally walked into Needleplay and immediately knew I had found it. The owner is an absolute treasure - Janet has been stitching and supplying needlepointers for over 30 years and she is INCREDIBLE. I attended my first class today and the amount of knowledge positively brimming out of this woman was fantastic. I cannot wait to go back. Imagine the energy of walking into a cozy old bookstore, crammed to the brim with odds and ends, nooks and crannies just spilling treasures. The walls are covered in canvases for sale, more hanging on racks, examples of Finished projects displayed all over, tons of fibers/threads, all the tools you could ever want, plus a great big table for her small classes (read as personal and tight knit, not empty! There are often waitlists!). I did a class today, but the two times I'd visited just to browse, I had learned something new each visit. It's just a wonderful place and the community is so inclusive and amazing. It is well worth the 45 minute drive for me, past two closer shops, for the shop, for the vibes, for the incredible humans, and especially for Janet! I have since taken many classes at Needleplay and made so many new friends of all ages, as well as brought along many of my own friends and family. We love attending Janet's classes. She is a true needlepoint expert like you will not find ANYWHERE else. I have learned so much from her and have developed a love of needlepoint. We had 4 framed art pieces done and we couldn't be happier with the final result. One poster is a Carline Young original from Hawaii. While being shipped here, the frame was destroyed and the FE reframed it with a rustic wood frame that looked even better than the original. The other pieces were posters purchased on Main st. in Moab and they are were impeccably done. We'll done guys! We'll be back to frame more pieces soon!

They now have room in the back for large classes. (I'm thinking the Utah County spinning group could begin meeting there.) There's seating at the front of the store and the gathering table is without all the old clutter. These are big improvements that make coming to Heindselman's an enjoyment. If you found it difficult to appreciate the store in the past because of the lack of organization and that big dog, you should try again. You'll be surprised. (Though I don't know if the dog is permanently gone, I didn't see any evidence of it).

The back of the store also has a nice selection of things needed for crafting with yarn such as needles, hooks, buttons, and sewing needles. The employees at Heindselman's are always kind and excited to talk about yarn. I like to make a stop here whenever I have some free time in Provo.
