The store is spacious, which makes it easier to browse, and there is a good assortment of yarns of various weights and fibers. I found the price of the yarn to be pretty reasonable. The back of the store also has a nice selection of things needed for crafting with yarn such as needles, hooks, buttons, and sewing needles. The employees at Heindselman's are always kind and excited to talk about yarn. I like to make a stop here whenever I have some free time in Provo.

They now have room in the back for large classes. (I'm thinking the Utah County spinning group could begin meeting there.) There's seating at the front of the store and the gathering table is without all the old clutter. These are big improvements that make coming to Heindselman's an enjoyment. If you found it difficult to appreciate the store in the past because of the lack of organization and that big dog, you should try again. You'll be surprised. (Though I don't know if the dog is permanently gone, I didn't see any evidence of it).

I went on a Thursday evening and it was pretty steadily busy, so I would imagine that it would be packed on a Friday or Saturday. There were around 35-40 booths set up in a large warehouse room, which seemed like just the right amount for meandering around. Each vendor marked their items with their vendor code so you can make all your purchases at once at the end. The vendors had already set up their items and were not present at the event, which made for a low-stress shopping experience. I believe that they rotate through vendors each week so if you would like to see variety, you can go again on a different week and see some totally different items. You could buy anything from vintage clothing to dry shampoo, to embroidery to jewelry. My personal favorite vendor was Vintau, which sold gorgeous rocks and gemstones on stands and dreamcatchers at a super reasonable price. The people running the event stayed near the entrance/exit so they could hand out shopping baskets and check out customers. The lines were short, and they carefully wrapped up fragile items in tissue paper. Overall, it seemed very well planned and executed and was a very enjoyable way to spend an hour.

Gorgeous to look at, complicated to grow If you are looking…read morefor the prettiest nursery in Utah County, the search ends here. Sun River Gardens is beautifully organized, thoughtfully displayed, and stocked with a selection that puts most nurseries in the area to shame. Walking through it feels less like a garden center errand and more like an experience worth making time for. The indoor plant section is well curated and extensive. The outdoor area covers annuals, perennials, trees, and shrubs. The pottery selection, both indoor and outdoor, is lovely and priced accordingly. The pre-potted arrangements are hard to walk past. And then there is the home decor section, which is genuinely my favorite part of the visit. Exclusive, elegant, and full of pieces you simply will not find anywhere else, from beautiful accents and furniture to the most charming toys you can imagine. None of it is cheap, but none of it looks like anything else either. Now for the part I have been trying to figure out for years. I have a green thumb. I have a home full of healthy thriving plants. But something consistently happens with the plants I bring home from Sun River Gardens. Within a week or two, despite careful attention and following care instructions, they decline and die. This has happened enough times to be a pattern rather than a coincidence. Interestingly I have noticed the same thing with plants from other high end nurseries, while plants from Harmons or even Walmart almost always thrive. My best guess is that greenhouse grown plants raised in highly controlled environments struggle more with the transition to home conditions, but I genuinely do not know. What I do know is that it keeps happening. And yet I keep coming back, because the selection and the experience are that good. Four stars for the atmosphere, the inventory, and that home decor section. Just go in with realistic expectations if you are buying plants to keep alive.

This is nowhere near the selection of the grand daddy location, which is the QB Ogden spot, but you would be hard pressed to find a better selection anywhere short of actual Salt Lake City proper itself. Very nice to have this kind of gamut finally hit Utah County and chile-curious should haul themselves over to it. The space is easy to find, it's due west of the registers...can't miss it.
