I'd been looking forward to this visit since before it opened. The owner is one of the most unexpectedly impressive and refreshing individuals I know. The food, A1. It was delicious. Let me start with what I didn't know I would enjoy as much as I did. KALE. I don't know what they put in it, but it's yummy--perfect crunch, taste, and texture. Next, the jollof. Clearly, the chef is a grandma or aunty because, again, delicious. No spice was overwhelming. The chicken is well-seasoned and cooked to perfection. In addition to the jollof bowl, I also had a veggie bowl, which was a hit with my very picky eater husband. If you're vegan, you'll find something, vegetarians, there's food for you. Of course, for meat eaters, everything on the menu is an option. I have by-monthly meetings an hour from the restaurant (and my meeting is 4 hours from my home). Yes, I will make this 5-hour trip every other month to support this business. The owner is that amazing of a human, and the food is worth it.

This eatery is located in a fancy foodcourt with an industrial old factory ceiling giving it a cool look. It's a great place to try something new with friends! I was completely blown away by the food options. There were places selling Momos (Nepalese), Coxinhas (Bazillian), and Jollof (Ghanian), all in different eateries of course! But these are foods I never expected to find in a food court! I ended up eating at this African fusion restaurant because I rarely find African food restaurants. I haven't had much African food before, so I can't speak to authenticity. But in terms of taste, this place is delicious! I ordered waakye with braised stewed beef, plantain, broccoli, egg and suya powder. This came out to $15.88 which I think is on the pricier side. The waakye is a slow cooked rice and OMG it was sooooooo good! The texture of the rice was so soft and the flavor/texture of the black eyed peas matched the softness of the rice! Rice was definitely a 10/10! The braised stewed beef was also 10/10. It was on the tougher side so if you don't like tough beef, I wouldn't recommend it, but the spices/marinade on the beef was amazing!!! It's a non-spicy marinade with lots of umami and a hint of bbq flavor. I loved it with the waakye!! The suya powder is a bbq spice, and I think it tasted like a really good and less salty steak seasoning. I would definitely recommend it! The reason why I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because the sides were not good. The plantains were so hard that it felt like eating cardboard and the broccoli was not cooked thoroughly. As a side note, I came here on a Saturday at around 4-5 pm and the parking lot was packed with cars waiting for spots to open. We ended up parking a few blocks away and walked to the foodcourt. Also, seating was also a little difficult to find since it's shared with all the eateries. We ended up finding an open table after taking a lap or two. I would highly recommend trying the different food here!

The rice is perfectly seasoned and the chicken was juicy and tasty. Everything combined with the spicy sauce gave every bite a great flavor.

Ordering is very simple. You pick the base - black rice, jollof (tomato infused, smoky flavor) rice or kale, choice of protein, as many toppings you like and finally the sauce. They are very generous with the portions (probably can feed 2-3 people). The bowl I got to go was flavorful and most importantly, super fresh! The blacken chicken was peppery. I am willing to drive an hour just to get more jallof rice.

A wonderful West African lunch spot in Worcester Public Market. I'm so glad I chose this place to grab a quick lunch on a Saturday. It was quick to order and I made my own bowl with Jollof (tomato rice), corn, broccoli, sweet potato, braised beef, and spicy honey to top it off. It comes in a flat bowl so everything is nicely laid out and you can see all the stuff you got. The tomato rice was flavorful and the braised beef was tender. The spicy honey sauce definitely had a kick to it which added another layer of flavor to the bowl. The honey adds a sweetness to the spice, so it's not too spicy. The bowl was filling and quite satisfying to finish eating. They also have signature bowls, wraps, and juice for to try out. Overall, if you can't decide what to eat at the market, you can definitely try this place out!

If I lived closer, I would be a regular! Akra is an African Fusion establishment and their food is AMAZING. My boyfriend was in line and the person that prepped the food came out, socially distanced of course, and asked of he could help explain the dishes and the process. Wonderful service to explain to people that aren't as familiar with the dishes and he did it in such a warm manner. If you are reading this, thank you - I wish there were more people in this world as kind as you. He ordered the beef with jollof rice (tomato rice), salad, beef, plantains, and spicy honey. I tried his meal and the flavors were unreal.

The food was so good and the customer service was 10/10. I've never had such flavorful salmon, will definitely be coming back.

Jollof/ Kale base roasted carrots, tofu, coleslaw, plantains, and spicy honey drizzle.

OH MY GOD THIS IS MY NEW FAVORITE RESTAURANT. I was ordering take out on grub hub and honestly was just thinking "I may as well make something at home I don't actually want to eat any of these things" But then I saw Akra pop up in the suggestions and it's everything I've ever wanted in a bowl but could never find in one restaurant. I was worried about adding a sauce because some places use way too much but they used the perfect amount. Everything was fresh and exquisitely seasoned and I might just eat here and only here for the rest of my life.

Ākra is one of the best African restaurants in Massachusetts. The food, flavor and cooks make sure to embody authenticity. They use to have their own restaurant but then moved to the food court inside of the Worcester Public Market, honestly they are the top food option in there. The prices and portions are good. We were stuffed after our meal! We stopped by here on a Saturday night and the market had a live jazz band so we got to eat with a nice live show. The jollof rice (tomato rice as the Americans say), was great! Perfect levels of spice and flavor. The baked chicken was delicious and juicy! And the plantains were yummy. The food tasted fresh and was hot. I added a picture of the menu for their current prices.

Amazeballs!!! So yummy. My daughters thought so too. We got the Akra bowl with jollof rice, plaintains, corn, mixed greens, and braised beef with spicy mayo and spicy honey. If you go to Crompton Collective, stop by the Worcester Public Market and eat here.

Already started eating whoop. Tofu, egg, jollof, cassava, broccoli, spicy Mayo sauce

Absolutely friggen delicious oh my goodness. I accidentally happened across this gem while passing through Worcester and couldn't be happier. I got the jollof bowl with tofu, boiled egg, cassava, broccoli, and spicy Mayo. Everyone is amazing. Love that they have vegetarian options. I don't live that close but will be back soon - it's worth the drive!

Just had the most delicious meal from ākra! I got a rice bowl with stewed beef, plantains, kale, and corn topped off with spicy mayo. The beef just melted in your mouth, the plantains were perfectly cooked, and the kale and corn were fresh and nicely lightened up the meal. The tomato rice base was so good, I could have eaten an entire bowl of just that! I'm sad I live so far away and can't eat this every week!

Like other reviews say, it def gave me some Subway vibes. We got the Jollof w/ chicken and fried turkey (which came with yams). They warned us that we'd probably have to wait 30 minutes for them to cook the turkey and the food was ready right around 30 minutes. Prices seemed on par with other restaurants (~$14 per entree). Service was friendly. The two main downsides: the creepy/annoying singing Santa and lack of indoor dining. There was one long table in the corner of the restaurant but it looked like it was more for employees. They offered to let us sit there if we wanted to dine in, but it definitely wasn't clean. And the Santa decoration that they had singing and dancing the same thing for 30 minutes was enough to make us want to get out of there as soon as our food was ready. Overall though, order in advance and you can't go wrong with Accra Girls!

Service: well first it should be noted they DO NOT have any dine in seating. I checked the website…read morebefore we drove a half hour to get there. Neither yelp or Google noted that their dining room was closed. The entire dining room looked like a giant storage room. Just boxes and crap everywhere. The guy at the register said since covid they haven't offered it. So it needs to be in the website(s). They didn't have half the items offered in the menu. A couple even walked out when they tried to order several items that weren't there. Another couple walked out because of the no seating. HORRIBLE wait time. We waited an HOUR for our meal. Food: This was our first time trying Ghanaian food and I was so excited but extremely let down due to half the items not being offered that were written on the menu. I had Fufu with "Light" soup. It was delicious. But also at times it felt like you shot pepper straight in your throat. I know it's spicy and I love spicy. However, I sneezed a lot like I inhaled pepper. It was the weirdest experience. It had a great flavor a solid kick but that pepper in the nose feeling was bizarre. Not sure what spice they put in there that caused that. My husband had the turkey necks? It was very dry and not much meat. The Yam was VERY dry.
