This current incarnation focused on traditional Cantonese cuisine rather than the huge open patio where the original venue used to boast. Highlights ... Roasted Squab ... crispy skin & succulent a classic, a sprinkle of five spiced salt gives it a kick .. a perfect starter! Their Dim Sum ... I would say most items on their dim sum menu are done very well, all items are freshly steamed to order and came out pipping hot! Ask them for their XO sauce as an accompaniment! Service is very friendly and professional, a few times we tend to over order and they are kind enough to stop us! Parking .. they have ample private covered parking, make sure you register with he reception!

We would bring hand picked fresh live seafood just a few minutes away and bring them here and then you can request them to cook it in this style or that style. Of course, they have other stuff you can order. It is a 酒家 afterall. Anyway, this restaurant is a lot fancier and a lot more comfortable than the one I usually go to to bring live seafood. There was more space and it feels a little classier. It's more expensive but you get what you paid for in terms of comfort and better ambience while the food is still very good. Service was very good too.

The staff are overworked, which is apparent from the frowns on their faces; reinforced by the fact that customers are forced to top up water themselves and the staff even forget to return your teapot after having taken it away for refill.  Poor service aside, the food here is better than the average dim sum restaurant and good value too. The kitchen constantly produces new freshly cooked food for ordering in person at the counter dedicated to such purchases. The Char Siu Honey Glazed Bun looked fantastic but had sadly sold out by the time my group tried to get a portion. The Vegetarian Cheung Fun was a delight as most places just serve the cheung fun plain and in small replicable rolls but here there is plenty of spring onion and shrimp embedded in the cheung fun and the rolls are sizeable and satisfying. The small pineapple buns with taro filling were irresistibly soft, freshly baked with a slightly crispy topping, as they should be, with a subtly sweet taro filling. Also remarkable were the Siu Mai pork and prawn dumplings which were quite possibly the biggest of its kind that I've ever seen, plus with roe on the top, they certainly looked appetising and did not disappoint. Meanwhile, all the other dim sum I saw were also of good quality and served in generous portions.

The restaurant is round in an inconspicuous corner of Yuen Long, this place is spread over several floors on an old building and at times it does feel quite claustrophobic. Be prepared to stamp up a couple of flights of stairs as the lift never arrives for some reason. Once inside you will notice that its old- I don't know when the last renovation was but it is clear that nothing has been done to it for a while. Perhaps that's some of its charm. On sitting down, you will be handed a menu with some daily specials. Unless you were feeling especially adventurous or you have particular in mind, you will notice that most people seem to order the same dishes here (outside of dim sum hours I mean). The five flavor chicken, the friend eggs with fish innards and the lard with rice are the staples at this restaurant. Most people will understand what the first two are, the first being a chicken marinated with a special sauce (nice), the second being just scrambled eggs with some goo-ey bits in(not for everyone). The last one is actually quite simple- it is lard (in an oil form that comes in a bottle), some soy sauce (you can put however much you like) mixed with plain rice. I don't need to tell you that its cardiac arrest inducing but my god, its so nice that I want one right now. Go try if you have time. You won't miss anything if you miss it as the choices aren't actually that many.

Mom is really pleased with the prices, tea is only HKD 7 per person, and most dim sum goes from HKD 16-24, about US$2-3 each plate. According to her, many places charge more than that for tea time specials. Especially recommends the sponge cake, though I won't order the chicken wings again - the wings themselves are bland with *chunks* of ginger sauce on top. Located in the Gold Coast shopping center, they have outdoor seatings. Not a lot of dim sum places can boast that.

Firstly I would like people to know that this restaurant is only a dim sum place in the afternoon and that is all they are good at. I would recommend everyone try out their Steamed Malay Cake - the flavour and texture is done a lot better than some other restaurants in the area. Although their dimsum isn't cheap, it is good and you have to remember Hong Kong Gold Coast is a tourist destination. DINNER IS ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE Even the white rice is bad. I think they aren't able to hire a good chef and I've been back once to see if they had improved since I had my first dinner soon after their soft opening. No change - just as bad. But if you find yourself here at night, be sure to order something that isn't light or white in color, order the deep fried, heavy seasoning dishes.
