It's 5mins walk from Quarry Bay MTR, and If you pass by sometime you'll see elderly folks chatting and chilling at the small garden area outside the entrance. Hikers pass by the building because the entrance to the HK Island hiking trail Mount Parker is outside. So while this place is a bit rusty, it is far from obsolete. The sports center is small compared to other Government Sports Centers, only two floors, 6/f and 7/f. In the two floors, they managed to pack a table tennis room, 2 squash courts, basketball court (convertible into a volleyball court or 4 badminton courts), a dance room (189m2) and a small fitness room (165m2). Like I said, the place is a bit old and visibly so, and the ventilation is not so great in certain areas. But the place is still busy during off-work hours and classes are regularly held in the fitness rooms, so the much newer Island East Sport Center (2001) one MTR stop away has become a good alternative. Staff here are mostly similar to their patrons: old-timers who are friendly and talkative. That also pretty much sums up the sports center, a bit barebones, weathered, but genuine and neighborhood-friendly.

For main course I had the duck breast with duck confit with corn on the side. It was a bit underwhelming, with the breast being a bit dry and bland and not the greatest pairing with the sauce/glaze on the side. The leg confit was better though. My partner had the black cod, though, and that was easily the best dish of the evening. The cook with sear was perfect, and had a great maple glaze and leek that complemented the butteriness of the fish.

I suppose there are a lot of Indians here so they have a lot of Indian cuisine options on the menu. Pro tip: Only members of the club are allowed to pay the bill. So yeah, being the typical Chinese person that I am, I was trying to fight for the bill since I don't see my relatives often but my uncle beat me to it.

After some research, I found out that they are different things, but part of the same complex. I have reviewed the playground previously and hadn't taken this area into account. The Southorn Stadium is in fact an indoor stadium managed by the Hong Kong Southorn Association. It can accommodate around 2,000 people, but there's room for an extra 500 seats that can be added. I wouldn't have imagined that given the size of it from outside (but then again I'm really bad with figures). As you come in, there's a big lobby at the entrance and you'll find the ticketing office on the left hand side. There are entrances on both sides of the lobby to the main arena which is 28x15 m with two led screen at both sides of it and 6 different exits. Toilets are located on both sides too. This arena is usually used for basketball games as it was originally designed - the size of the arena has the standard international basketball ground and it's got wooden flooring. However the space can be rented out by companies, associations or non for profit organizations for events of other nature (culture, music, education, sports, etc.) for as much as 10,000 per session (4 hours) and at any time during the day from 9am to 11pm. The stadium was renovated in 2013 and it looks today as modern as ever.

Located in Wan Chai, it's not the easiest pool to get to - it's a bit of a walk from the MTR, but then, nothing is really that far away Hong Kong, is it? Entry to the swimming pool is via cash or octopus card at the turnstile, at this moment it is HK$19. You also don't have to be a member of a club, or a Hong Kong resident, to enjoy using the pool. It really is totally public in the best sense of the word. The pool itself is 50m, and is fairly wide, so it has a number of lanes. At any given time, a number of these lanes may be rented out for classes, or club swimming, but there will always be a few lanes reserved for public "walk-in" swimmers. There's usually at least a fast lane and a slow lane, so you shouldn't get stuck behind some body who's technique is just a shade over drowning. Word of warning; in Hong Kong the definition of swimming fast seems to be a leisurely breaststroke. If you want to get any serious training done in a public pool, you may have to be a little bit obnoxious and swim past people, or you may be better off actually joining a club anyway. As well as the main pool, and there is a small children's training pool, and a toddler's pool. The other facilities at Morrison Hill pool are fairly rudimentary, there are two large changing rooms, one women's and one men's (obviously). They have toilet facilities and many shower cubicles with hot water, but no air conditioning, only giant fans that blast warm air around the changing rooms. If you get a sweat on when you're swimming, expect to be sweating all the way back home or to the office. The pool offers viewing facilities for competitions, and of course this can be used at any time by parents or those not wanting to swim. Also, life guards are on duty during the sessions. Working out of the swim times can be a little bit confusing, depending on cleaning days and public holidays, but the website is kept up to date, so do a quick check to make sure that you are going on a day where there is actually some swimming available. Fortunately, the pool is indoor, so there is no change in timings between Winter and Summer.

It was super clean, and the people that were there were there to swim. It was not overcrowded like you'd imagine it would be on a Sunday. There is a 50m standard pool that's covered, and a smaller outdoor pool that seemed popular with the children and families. The 50m pool goes up to 1.9m deep. The lockers, changing and shower areas are also very clean and relatively dry. Would definitely go back if I need a swim fix.
