We spent a few hours at the Ocean Park with my niece. The park is pretty big and a little hard to navigate through with a bunch of things that seemed to be closed. We did see the pandas, the aquarium, and went on a few rides. We also took the scenic cable car to the hilltop summit for more rides. We had a quick lunch and a glass of wine and then a yummy treat - the egg waffle. Overall, we enjoyed our day and might come back when our niece is a little older and can enjoy more rides and attractions.

Ocean Park is classic to Hong Kong and I haven't been since I was a kid, so I was excited to go back as an adult. I went during off-season so some areas were unfortunately closed for the season. It wasn't very busy. All the animals are always fun to see. There weren't as many rides available. It was a fun trip down memory lane though.

Ocean Park was a solid place to visit and I'm glad we made a stop when we were in Hong Kong! We were deciding between going to Hong Kong Disneyland or Ocean Park but ultimately decided to stop by here and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Getting here was a breeze as there is a dedicated MTR station for it. All the animals are a huge highlight! I got to see pandas, otters, meerkats, giant tortoises, different birds, monkeys, sloths, penguins, arctic foxes and more. There are truly so many different types of animals you can see while you are here so definitely make time to stop by all the exhibits here. There are several sections of the park that also have different water enclosures and aquariums to also view a wide variety of marine life. You can see tropical fish of all kinds, sharks, seals, walruses, and they also have a dolphin show. Thrill mountain is more of where the rides and coasters are situated and you can get there by the cable car (long lines) or the train (also has a queue but virtually no wait). We rode the train going up and took the cable car down which was a little scarier than I expected especially with the wind. The rides themselves are on the older side and do have some signs of wear and tear. I also noticed that the duration of the rides felt a lot shorter than some similar counterparts I've tried in the U.S. For example, for people familiar with Knott's Berry Farm, there were rides that were basically the equivalent of the dragon boat swing, la revolucion, and sol spin, but all the rides were significantly shorter. Some of them didn't have long lines when we went so we just got back in line to re-ride some favorites, but I could imagine myself being disappointed if I waited longer for some of them. It was also very cold at the top of thrill mountain so make sure to bring some extra layers. It was overcast the day we went and being by the ocean, there are some strong gusts that come through that can get chilly. The views of Hong Kong are great to see from the top of thrill mountain! Looks are deceiving - the map doesn't look that big, but the park itself is much bigger than I thought. There are a lot of hills and inclines you need to walk through to get around the park even after you make it on to thrill mountain. Something to be aware of as you map out/plan your day. We didn't really try the food much but enjoyed what was available at the carts. I was enticed by a picture of a white peach oolong soft serve but that was really disappointing and tasted really artificial and slushy. The only downside is the hours are shorter than theme parks in the U.S the day we went. It was open from 10am - 7pm and with all the animals, exhibits, activities, rides, and shows, we weren't able to fit in everything we wanted. Also, some rides were closed which was a bummer. They weren't listed on the website as being serviced so I'm not sure what led to their closure and wish we knew ahead of time. We were definitely satisfied by our decision to go to Ocean Park over Disneyland and highly recommend it to all visitors. Maybe just make a plan to try and fit in what you can while you're there.

Pandas and sharks and roller coasters and bumper cars and owls and an epic sky ride and old signs and offal oh my....no one thing is the "best of its kind" but when all combined at a fair price with easy access via MTR Ocean Park is definitely worth a half-day visit.

There's a MTR station within steps from the park's entrance which makes this place really convenient to visit. I visited on a weekday and was one of the first to gain entry inside. The the first hour or so it was like visiting an abandoned amusement park and having it all to myself. The first thing I did was take the cable car to the other side. Parts of it got kind of scary because it would shake and make screeching noises. The park has rides, carnival games, aquariums, animal viewing areas, and great views of the surrounding area. Food and beverages were standard theme park pricing meaning more expensive than on the outside. It was great to see pandas and red pandas in real life.

We had a great time at the park. Not very crowded on a Friday afternoon, short waiting time on most of the rides. One of the most iconic places in HK. Highly recommend

The first things I learned about Ocean Park is that it is more worth going to than Hong Kong Disneyland. It had been on my bucket list for Hong Kong for over a year, and I was finally able to go with some of my coworkers. Before my trip, my work supervisor warned me that Ocean Park was "too shiny." I at first had no reference point or any idea what she meant by that. Going to Ocean Park on a Thursday morning in May, we quickly realized how blinding on the reflective surfaces are. A lot of metal has been used to construct this particular amusement park, which makes it structurally sound but also a leading culprit for the early onset of cataracts for many Hongkongers. You've been duly warned: bring and wear sunglasses. If you're from Southern California like I am, the closest reference point to me would be Sea World in San Diego. Lots of aquariums and other wild animal enclosures, some rollercoaster rides, a lot of places to take pictures. I loved every minute of it. I was very thankful to all the animals I got to see, whether it were the jellyfish, the sharks, the meerkats, the goldfish, the red pandas, the koalas, and especially the walruses. And never would I have imagined being able to go to an amusement park on a working Thursday.

I had a great time here! I actually liked ocean park more than Disney. Although, there were waits for rides here, I felt that they moved a lot faster than the lines at disney. The games were also really fun and priced well. We played the basketball game and the basket toss. We went home with an armful of plushies! The show was okay, storyline was focused on teaching visitors to care for our sea wild life by not polluting the waters with our trash. I enjoyed the rides more than the show. Animal and sea animals exhibits were okay, you can find more impressive fish and jelly fish at the Monterey bay aquarium. The best ride was the mine carts, we opted for no VR so we could enjoy the view. The ride is built along side the water so you get an amazing view of the ocean. The cable cars were also great as they give you this amazing scenic ride as you travel from one side of the park to the other. The park itself is built on a mountain on opposite sides, the middle is all forest and greenery. If you're in Hong Kong for multiple days, I highly recommend spending a day here.

It's different to the adventure parks I'm use to in the UK and USA but its a beautiful theme park which includes an iconic Marine Land, giant pandas, red pandas and Otters. I had an amazing time especially riding the cable car! It's the ideal way to get between the Waterfront and the Summit during the heat and humidity. The views of the sea, sky and surrounding hills are amazing and make a great backdrop for photos! Ocean Park just opened its new Water World! Go check it out!

A local long standing amusement park on the southern part of Hong Kong island with a zoo and aquarium. My favorite is viewing the pandas. With every visit to HK I have visited Ocean Park since childhood and never grown weary. The views are amazing. Hot air balloon enable beautiful view of HK island and cable car ride to access the other end of the park. Price is somewhat less than its competitor HK Disneyland and contains more rides and activities. Ocean Park is accessible by CityBus 629 at Admiralty station. Nota bene: Admission for the birthday one is free with proof of HKID on your actual birthday day.

Use online booking to skip the lines at the gate but DON'T buy the meal option. You have a separate menu that is small and has few choices if you do. Also, spring for the Fast track if you are going on rides. It's worth it esp in HK broiling sun (in October). If not, bring a hat or spring for one of those uv umbrellas. It's hot out there Get up early and go as soon as the park opens. You will thank me. Go immediately to the cable car and go to the polar exhibits. The line gets really long really fast. The cable car a testament to Chinese engineering - just the cable car is at least 1 mile and there are literally a gazillion cars on each cable. If you don't use the cable care, taking the Ocean express goes through the mountain-seriously for a theme park. Edmonton can't get its LRT to run and Toronto's GO train stops when it's too hot or too cold cuz the rails bend. And Hong Kong drills a tunnel for a train at a theme park. We can learn from HK. Anyway, great panda, seal and penguin exhibit. Aquarium was striking. There are tons of rides available.

This is a must visit adventure park for families with young kids. Yes, there's Disney Hong Kong, but it's the same every where. Ocean Park has kept reinventing itself and built many more attractions since I was last here, and the best part is that, it totally has the Hong Kong flavor to it. There's the old Hong Kong street where you get to try the Hong Kong specialty snake food. Oh... did you know that you can also see PANDAS here! Cray cray!!! As if that's not enough, they also have a park for little kiddies and a more adrenaline rush rides for older teens. Wait, there's also the sea life park where you can enjoy a dolphins show and has its own aquarium. Seriously they have something for everyone of all ages.

Honestly, I thought Ocean Park was better than Disneyland HK. OP has been around since I was a little kid and had years upon years to improve the park. Disneyland HK has only been about for about 13-14 years and are still making improvements. OP is also an amusement park, a semi zoo, an aquarium all put into one. The place is beautiful. Once you get here, take a little time to say hello to Mr. Panda and the little red panda, super cute. The park itself is divided in two parts, with the majority of the rides at another location. It takes a tunnel train ride or a skyline gondola to get to the other side. I recommend the gondola if you are not deathly scared of heights. The Skyline ride is almost worth the price of admission, ride it during the day to enjoy the view of the ocean. Ride it again at night is a must as well, the skylight is awesome. The rest of the rides are Ok, they are not the best in the world by any standard, but they are still pretty fun. One of the fun things if you are into it, is they will take pictures of you right away before the ride starts, and have it printed and ready for your purchase of your ride pictures by the time the ride is over. We were suckered into a couple of them ourselves. Check out the prize games, again, suckered into plenty of those. At the end of the day, I got a giant bag of toys for the bus/train ride back to the hotel. There is also a little section call old Hong Kong, a must to check out. No rides or anything, just really fun pic opportunities. Overall, fun, fun time.

We did not need a fast pass (we went during a slow period), though we did do early entry (which cost extra) but probably could have accomplished everything without it. I am a former Disneyland pass holder and have been to the parks in Florida a few times. In comparison, HK Disneyland is very easy to get to since they have an MTR station that stops right at the park. We stayed at the Explorer's Lodge and were able to use the free shuttle bus to the park. With early entry, we were able to do the Frozen Ever After, Wandering Oaken's Sliding Sleds and the Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh ride all before the park opening. My daughter wanted to do a character meet and greet, which we queued up for as soon as we got into the park. The Disney parks in Asia have a set of characters unique to these parks and the character meet and greet waits can go up to 2 hours, so this was a bonus. We made sure to ride Mystic Manor, Frozen Ever After and the Big Grizzly Mountain Runaway MineCars twice since we don't have these in Anaheim. Food was a mixed bag. Some places were closed so we ate at the Explorer's Club, which had a semi-buffet. Food was ok but it was nice to have a sit-down lunch. The snacks were better - like the Lotso waffle sandwich, Korean grilled squid and the HK-Style Flavored Tea Slush with soft serve. We even caught a couple of shows - Festival of the Lion King and Mickey and the Wondrous Book. They are both good, but I was surprised by how much I enjoyed Mickey and the Wondrous Book. If you are a family with small kids, this is probably the easiest of the Disney parks to visit!

It's a much smaller park than the California Disneyland that I grew up with, but that was really nice as well; nothing felt rushed. It's not as expensive as US Disney parks either - that's a huge perk!

Instead, we have kids staying indoor learning piano, violin, etc as young as 5 years old. So I always appreciate outdoor activities for kids and this is one of them - Noah's Ark. Opened in 2009, Noah's Ark is a rather new tourist attraction and it mainly caters for family and kids. How can you call itself Noah's Ark without the actual full-size simulation of Noah's Ark? I was pretty surprised when I first saw it as I thought it would be a much smaller scale but as the park's centerpiece, it does not disappoint. As an informative and religious place, this place allows visitors to learn about nature, family value and also the harmony. The highlight of this place to me is the "Ark Expo" where you can enjoy multimedia entertainment, for example, you may have a look at the short movie in the "180 degree Theatre" and see how Noah's ark came to its being. And I really do love the Ark Garden where you can have pictures with the replicas of the animals. Nevertheless, there are a few things which sort of put me off a bit. First is the religious theme is everywhere. I should not be surprised being coming here but as an atheist, I really do believe they have over-done it a little bit and you can almost feel that they are shoving those beliefs down your throat; second it the location, it seems like this place is too secluded, being located in Ma Wan, Noah's Ark is the only thing you can be here and the trip to here takes up most of your day already... regardless, I still love this place for kids to run around.

I mean, I'm comparing Ocean park with Universal Studios' Halloween Haunt! And guess what? I prefer Ocean Park! To give a little background, I love getting scared, I love scary movies. I DO get scared, but less so from these haunts, but I really like the feel of going in them and just admiring the decor in general. Also I went on Standard Chartered day on Fast Pass, so my experience may be significantly more pleasant. Ocean Park does get really packed and the fast pass is WORTH IT. I believe they run around $320? regular tickets are like $320? The make up and costumes were very very impressive. I have to give huge props. Honestly the ones I've seen in the US were predictable, always just clowns, bloody people. But at Ocean park, there was a lot of creativity and originality. The acting was also comparable. I hear they hire theatre students/grads, and the quality is present. They're actually not minimum wage employees contrary to my earlier beliefs! My friends who went in 2013 also thinks 2014 is way better! The guys even got a little (just a little) scared! RIGOR MORTIS: A MUST GO! try to watch the movie first. The staging ties in the movie quite well! Not that you need to watch the movie, but it's just cool. High quality props and actors CHINESE MAD-ICINE HALL: Very Chinese-y. Very well-done props! I felt like I was in an ancient movie set. HORROR WOOD STUDIOS: The first one I went to and the least scariest one so it set my expectations a bit low. A bit dark so I felt it was a cop out, but there were some shining (and screaming) moments! FOREST OF DOOM: Again, very nicely decorated, I really felt like I was in the forest! Beware if you are afraid of creepy crawlies! I actually did not try the other ones because they were all before 5pm and I was too busy looking at stingrays and pandas =p But I figured those were not scary at all anyway. But if you have a small gut, you should probably check them out and ease into it first. *** Tip: You have to book the H14 access, I did not but I hear it's actually REALLY scary and gross, plus you have to go alone. But book if you want to because same day registration is very limited. But fast pass, just don't eat inside. Bring your own water, water is $24-25 inside. Many of my girlfriends were extremely scared though! Go as early as you can to get the best bang for your buck Favourites: Good actors, high quality sets and props. Fast pass is fast! Being that I love Halloween, I've always liked going to these kind of events! Like Celine L., I've been to a few similar themed parks before as well (Universal, Knotts, Queen Mary, etc.) so I have something to compare to. The entire Ocean Park was Halloween themed and it was very impressive with the details. They had many horror actors scattered throughout the park scaring, sneaking up on guests, and keeping people waiting in line entertained. Some were scary, but many were also very funny. Whoever did the casting did a great job as every actor seemed to love what they do! The downside is definitely the long lines. I tried to get the 'fast pass' knowing there would be lines, but they were all sold out way early. I ended up going in with a regular ticket. With that said, definitely get the fast pass if you can. One of the haunted houses, the line took about 1.5 hours.. But toward closing time (close to 11pm) most of the lines were very short and we were able to do two houses in the final 30 mins. My goal was to do 4 haunted houses to get my moneys worth, and we ended up doing 5! So not too bad. As for the haunted houses itself, most of them were well done. If you look on the map there is a "Scare" rating. So of course the more scary ones have much longer lines. One thing I wish they did was to separate the guests into smaller groups when entering since its less scary with lots of people in front and behind you. Tips: -Wanted to do the H14, but didnt realize you had to book it in advance. -The Eerie Nippon Journey (low scare rating) was quite funny. If the line is short check it out for a good laugh! -If you are a cute girl, a cast member will probably hit on you, and the entire line will laugh at him
