We came to enjoy the easier side - with little ones in tow though, the adults were busy hooking and unhooking the kids for climbing vs being able to do any climbing ourselves so don't bother paying for yourself to climb if you're here with young kids. The kids favorite was the slide, which is not so much climbing but more hanging onto a handle that pulls you up the slide until you are ready to release at whatever height you are comfortable with. They have many climbing walls/structures and they have english-speaking staff on the floor to help out. Its a good place to stay cool indoors doing the summer and for the kids to release their energy while challenging themselves. They have 105min sessions so check their website for when each session starts (we came at the 3:15pm-5pm session). We stayed for 1.5hrs and it was enough time to try everything. Their website says to reserve online prior to going but we just walked in and paid there with no problem. They have climbing lessons, annual passes, summer passes, etc available. They have cubby holes at the entrance for you to put your bags in, and for an additional hkd$50, you can pay for a more secure locker to store your bags -- you cannot bring bags into the climbing area. Currently, they have a promo until mid-Aug for 2 climbers to climb for hkd$300 (normally it is hkd$250 per person).

From the owner: Currently the biggest rock climbing gym in Hong Kong, we also have Clip N' Climb which is a fun way…read moreto introduce rock climbing to both kids and adults!

I've been to Da Verm this evening. For six months I had been meaning to go climbing and yet I…read morehadn't gotten around to do it. So tonight was the night. I got there just before 8pm, a bit of a busy time it seemed (I asked the girl at the reception and she said it would get less busy from 9pm). I met up with my climbing mates and checked out the walls.... One of them had already been there and knew the routes pretty well. He pointed out that there were more people than there used to be and (important if you really are into climbing) the noise level was higher. There are a suspicious amount of top less guys cheering at each other as they got higher up the wall (...that's annoying). Bearing in mind that the place is rather small, that didn't feel great. But nevertheless, we were there for the walls after all. On your right hand side there is a practice wall, for beginners or rather intermediate level. There are a few routes designed for you to practice your swings and that's where we spent more of the two hours we were there. There is also a very small one on which you can go up a little higher and the difficulty is also medium. On your left hand side there is the main wall, with all levels routed on it. I didn't venture this one: I'm still out of climbing shape and it was a bit of a 'showroom'. I was looking forward to seeing people living, but it remained pretty packed until 10pm. Da Verm facilities are okay, it's a lot smaller than I expected (maybe I'm too used to bigger places in London) but it's good enough for all levels. The thing that bothers me is the lack of tranquility that you can breathe there...maybe the key is to avoid peak times. But then, that's always tricky...

Great fun hike! We walked up to he hike from the MTR, which in it of itself was a hefty hike…read more The hike itself is well paved and well maintained. We passed by many groups enjoying the hike. There are a lot of stairs, so my calves were so stiff for a couple days after! It's a good workout but it's not particularly hard nor steep. The walk up to the trailhead however was very steep. Bring sunscreen and plenty water! A lot of the hike is in direct sun. Overall, starting at the MTR and getting all the way back down took about 3-3.5 hours but we were booking it, so you may want more time.

Getting here is a challenge. After Nan Lian Garden, we took an Uber to Fat Jong temple. Unfortunately our driver couldn't take us to Lion's Pavilion since you need a permit to go up to the top but some taxis will let you. NOTE: we tried to get a couple taxis but none of them wanted to go up to The pavilion at Sha Tin Pass. From the temple, it's an additional 20 minutes upward a steep incline. You'll soon see a sign after a few switchbacks along the road to Lion's rock 1.8 km. The hike consists of many bunches of stairs but kids and elderly people were on this hike on a Sunday so anyone can pretty much do this (just be careful!!). It took roughly an hour to get to the top with taking 1-2 very short breaks for water. The view is amazing from the top!! I highly recommend taking the time of your trip to Hong Kong to tackle this hike. Also, it's recommended to get a ride share or Uber when you walk down. Not many taxis will be at the bottom of Fat Jong temple to grab you.
