The boat ride is short and sweet but unique. I think most shopping mall play areas do not have a boat ride. For each child to ride the boat, parent supervision is required. There was a line during our visit and our wait was approximately 20 minutes. The ride itself is probably two minutes long but the kids enjoyed it and saw different characters along the way. The whole play area seems a bit dated and could use a refresh.

As far as I know, taking the 82 minibus from Tsuen Wan is the easiest way of getting here. Because of the distance traveled and the limited seating, it's best to stand in line early, since the wait at the bus stop can be pretty long. Near the trailhead, there's a shop for snacks and drinks as well as public restrooms. There are a number of ways to go about your adventure. Since we were trying to get back before dark and avoid the next rainstorm, we covered Pineapple Dam and Waterside Paperbarks, extended a little past Shing Mun Reservoir Delta before turning around to check out Shing Mun Reservoir Main Dam. While there were a few stairs and some incline, the trail was mostly flat as well as well-kept and easy to traverse. Breaking away from the main loop, there were portions with gnarly trees, rocky boulders you can climb, and flatlands for day-camping. Another perk is that the wildlife around here roam freely. A herd of cattle were grazing near the reservoir's edge unbothered by passersby. A local troop of monkeys made their appearance, with a few more brazen than others. Word of advice: If you've got your phone in hand or any other small object, they might mistake it for food and lunge towards you, so maintain some distance. If you happen to have driven and parked in an area with monkeys, well...they might just make it their bed and scratch it up, perhaps even leave a dollop or two...We also chanced upon a kaleidoscope of butterflies along the way, many of which were uniquely patterned. Finally, there was a shared rest area completely occupied by a pack of dogs before they went on their way. Fun, fairly straightforward, and not too physically demanding trail for most folks. For humidity and possible chance of rain, bring an umbrella, a water bottle, and change of clothes. Next time I'll try completing the entire loop.

Sincerely I had not dug deep into the bits and pieces of Chinese University campus before. My only…read moreknowledge of the place was limited to one or two landmarks; the campus being much larger than HKU, covering the whole of the mountain; plus a few of the famous food items from their canteens. Luckily, there was one time when I visited the graduation show of CU Architectural Department, and a cool friend took me on a petite tour around the campus. The most special place that struck me was the Pavilion of Harmony next to some dormitory buildings, designed by an ex-architecture department professor Freeman Chan. In fact, it is merely as small pond at the top of a mole, embracing an age-old tree. When you go up the narrow ramp on the side, or simply walk up the few steps to the terrace where the pond sits, you would suddenly see this small pond, linking seamlessly with the ocean and the sky wayyyy beyond. There is also a narrow footpath on its side abutting the slope downwards, where you can overview the whole of the Science Park below. With just one simple gesture, it multiplies the sensations that the scene of this small mole brings to you. This is what good architecture would do to a natural scenery. It prooves that the act of building doesn't always equate destruction, but can also elevate and accentuate a place, when done right.

During my registration day here at CUHK I heard so much about each college (back then there were…read moreonly four - New Asia, Chung Chi, United and Shaw) and had been struggling to choose which one I should go for. Then I heard someone said this - "No final year project in New Asia". Okay, that just made my choice very easily. Thanks! If you ask me, I really do not know much about Chinese literature but one thing I know for certain is that Chinese literature and culture seem rather interwoven with New Asia college. You can tell by the statue of Confucius in the middle of the lawn where people often take pictures with it. Another thing I like about this college is that New Asia is always the destination for most school buses. As a person who often finds myself lost in the middle of nowhere, knowing that I will get to NA no matter which school bus I hop on certainly makes it all better. Unfortunately I had to say I was not that involved with the college activities and I was not that hardworking as a student, you can picture me burying my head in my laptop writing papers during assembly. Anyways, let me sum this up: I like that New Asia is a rather chill college that does not require you to take all kind of sports competition, does not make you a easy target during some chanting between colleges, and certainly does not make you worry about whether you will have enough marks to get a room in the dormitory.

I'm not sure if it's the only skatepark in Hong Kong that runs forever but at least now you know there's one. The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) were literal in their naming of this place, as it really is smack in the middle of the street. It is situated under a busy highway and is nothing more than a skatepark (literally) as there are no taken-for-granted facilities such as toilets and water fountains. It sure gives meaning to the phrase "street skating". With the titillating scent of the fumes of vehicles coursing around and the honking truck horns, it's not really a great place to introduce someone to skating. Now, onto the main facilities of the skatepark, can't hate because the basics are here: banks, fun boxes, bars and rails. Because it really is a true-to-life "public" skatepark, maintenance is all too often on the low side. Even the floodlights at night turn on late, and during the day, because it is covered by a large highway, it's also dark. Make sure you provide your own 1x1 panel light if you plan on skating during the day. Gritty street skaters will love this place for its granular vibe while those accustomed to highly-maintained parks might steer away after visiting the park just once. Still, gotta love the LCSD for providing a place where skaters can safely practice their tricks.

The view is nice and the air is clean here. The grounds are very well kept. There are different play areas for kids with swings, slides, bars, etc. There are also areas where adults can do some strength-building and stretches. It's definitely a great place to relax and take your evening stroll!
