They gave us a booklet along with the paper to fill out, and most of the dim sum was the classic dim sum that I'm accustomed to. Their chiu chou fun gor was alright for me. They did put a good amount of peanuts in here but the exterior was a bit heavier on the dough side. Their siu mai and har gow were pretty good. Their cheung fun wasn't the silky light type, so I was just alright with it. Their Chicken with Sticky Rice wraped in Lotus Leaf was huge though, way bigger than those in Los Angeles. Their fresh mango custard roll was my highlight though, as they had chunks of mango in the middle and it was sweet. Would try this again. I think the one other aspect of this place is the interior is really clean, and they have a decent amount of tables inside. Service is a bit more attentive as the area isn't as large. I was most certainly full upon completion of this meal though haha.

Mark your order down on the sheet and go to the register to pay and turn in your order. Prices seemed to be slightly on the higher side at a first glance, but our final check ended up being pretty affordable. We tried their har gow, siu mai, baked BBQ pork buns, shrimp rice rolls, deep fried pork dumplings, and deep fried shrimp wonton. Food came out fast and I was pretty happy with all the items we ordered. Overall, decent spot for dim sum but I'd probably only come back if the wait wasn't too long.

If you are near here, eat here!…read more We were the only westerners in the restaurant, which gives a good hint about local quality. The menu had a LOT of items, each numbered and with short descriptions in English. Everything was, as you'd expect, served family style. We had the hot and sour soup, some veggie dumplings, shredded beef with vegetables, shrimp in chili sauce, all served with tea. Each was fantastic! Seriously. Not good. Not great. Fantastic! There was enough soup for four, which magically disappeared from our table for two. We cleaned every plate, and not because the servings were anything short of generous. The service was also great, while a bit hovering as they seemed worried about how we might handle everything. For one, I was happy they noticed us struggling while making a mess trying to shell the shrimp, bringing us a knife and fork (and extra wet-wipes). Interesting to me, this was the first time we each had two sets of chopsticks. Thankfully, the internet quickly taught us that one set was for serving ourselves from the community plates, and the other for eating. Don't use the eating pair for serving or the serving pair for eating -- it is bad form, especially with COVID being so huge here. Note: they are happy to bring serving spoons, forks and knives if you ask (or appear hopeless). My other mistake, in addition to the shrimp peeling fiasco, was not tipping. When I saw the 10% service fee, and knowing tipping is totally optional and not expected in Hong Kong (and most of SE Asia), I still should have left a bit more, especially considering how helpful they were.

Not sure what the other level is for as I only dined in the lower of the two levels in this place. There weren't a lot of dishes that stood out, however I really liked their fried prawn dumplings and their fish maw soup. Regardless everything tasted good and my whole table was satisfied with the meal. I'll consider returning here in my next HK trip for dim sum.

We ordered identical same things this time, however, the taste slightly different than what I remembered. Deep fried fish skins - It's crispy but a bit salty as snacks. She told me directions in Cantonese, and pointed off in the distance. The only thing I could remember was the name. I got lost entering the small alleyways but somehow found myself here. Wing Lai Yuen is a Sichuanese restaurant located in Wong Tai Sin. It is a short walk from the MTR…read morestation of the same name. This restaurant is a bit out of the way and the kind of place you wouldn't know about unless you knew a local. I learned of this spot from my aunt who lives in HK and has brought me here for dinner a couple times. The storefront does not have an English name so you will need to look for the Chinese title. Look for a red color sign. The restaurant interior has a feel of a hole in the wall. When you enter, grab a table if there is one open. Though be forewarned that you might need to share it if the restaurant fills up. It is best to get in early (5-ish) before the crowd at dinner time. There isn't an English menu, so it helps if you come here with a Chinese speaker. But there are menu item photos plastered over the wall so you could simply point to what you want here. The signature menu item here are their dan dan noodles. They are also a very good deal since it is just HK$24. This dish is spicy, though you can ask for a less spicy version but it is a bit watered down in flavor. On my recent trip, I had a few other items in addition to the dan dan noodles and all four of them were great. They have this fried fish appetizer which are crunchy that I couldn't get enough of. Then there were the two Sichuanese standards, chili green beans with ground beef and ma po tofu. The green beans were nice and crisp with plenty of garlic and chili pepper. The ma po tofu was silky and comforting. They also have xiaolongbao here which are HK$50 for an order of 8. For a restaurant that does not specialize in Shanghai cuisine, I thought these were quite good. Not the best I have had, but solid. The service is great here. And the chef was quite accommodating despite all of the special requests we had. The restaurant is a bit off the beaten path, but if you are looking for good Sichuanese food, Wing Lai Yuen is worth seeking out.

She used to live in this neighborhood when she was a child and this was one of her favorite restaurants back then. It's very popular among the locals and there are hardly any foreigners. I've been living in China for over 6 months but this Sichuan restaurant serves more delicious food than what I had in Mainland! I especially liked their 擔擔麵 (dandanmian) and 小籠包 （this is not really 川菜 but who cares? 好吃！）, so good! 不錯！For desserts, I recommend 炸銀絲卷 (sweet fried bread which is crunchy on the outside, you eat it with a condensed milk like dip), 雷沙湯圓 (hot mochi with black sesame cream inside) , and 豆沙鍋餅 (Awesome pancake with sweet red bean paste! H-A-O-C-H-I!! ) Fast, inexpensive, & delicious. Highly recommended!

Since we had no idea which one of these Chiu Chow places are good, our friend's recommendation will be for us to try and see! The interior is a throw back to the late 60's 70's decor, very clean and neat, with bright lights and also booth seatings. Soon as you sit down, the cold appetizers are already there for your enjoyment; fried fish, pickled mustard greens, peanuts, and a few other goodies, they will also offer you traditional Chiu Chow tea. Menu items are all on the wall, and if you want other daily specials, just go to the front counter and check out all the fresh seafood and prepared dishes! Outstanding items: Friend Cuttle Fish Puree: wrapped in tofu skin, so crispy outside and the cuttle fish puree has the most perfect texture and flavour! Sliced Chicken with Szechuen Peppercorn: Succulent slices of boneless chicken fried to perfection and then tossed in a peppery sauce! The fried green leaves give the dish the authentic flavour!
