It doesn't sound like much, but everything about Goldfish Market is just so cinematic. Even if you don't care to look at cute kittens and puppies, you can just pretend like you're in a local Hong Kong film as you stroll down the streets lined with pet stores. Occasionally, you'll find a food stall selling all types of unhealthy goodies like smelly tofu, fried eggplant, fish balls, etc.

Goldfishes? Puppies? Kittens? Cute baby turtles and bunnies?! Yes yes, you will see them all on Tung Choi Street aka Goldfish Market. Whether it's your first time in the city or simply someone looking to kill time, I think it's worth the stop to wander around this area. Given that this was my second time visiting HK, I did allow more time to wander in and out of the shops. If you love fishies, this is the place to see them. The goldfishes are huge and there are just so many types of fishes all around. As for the other animals, it's just fun to see cute adorable kittens & puppies running around. However, do note that the majority of the pet stores do not allow pictures and most don't allow petting unless you intend on buying the animal. Overall, this is a nice street for a stroll but if you're strapped for time, you could skip it and come back to it again.

REVIEWER #15 You see it all here! Goldfish Market is a street filled with all types of fish (Different colors and sizes) in plastic bags hanging from the wall. (Makes me wonder how many of those bags they sale and what happens to the fish if they don't find a home) Arghh, I don't even want to know. Ahem...Moving on.. I have to admit that this market offers a range of different animals to see. When I came here in November 2016 I had seen small turtle, bunny rabbits, fish, dogs! OMG, I wanted to take the cute little doggies home! The fishes, whose price tags range from very affordable to heart attack-inducing, are displayed in glass tanks or clear plastic bags. DID YOU KNOW: Goldfish is a big part of the Chinese culture? Goldfish are believed to bring prosperity and abundance and are known to be a very valued animal by the Chinese. The Hong Kong Goldfish Market in Mongkok is located in Tung Choi Street, a bit further up from the Ladies Market, and very close to the Bird Garden and Flower Market as well and can be easily combined in one outing. These Kowloon Markets offer a very unique window into Chinese lifestyle and great opportunities for sharpening your bargaining skills! Goldfish market offers over 30 stalls where one can encounter several small stores selling everything from fish to equipment and accessories in many different sizes and shapes. Looking for a free aquarium and zoo all in one? Well this is the place to be! I promise the little kids will have a field day here! HOW TO GET HERE: MTR Prince Edward Station, Exit B2. Walk east along Prince Edward Road West until you reach the market. MTR Mong Kok East Station, Exit C. Walk to Sai Yee Street via the footbridge and follow the signs. The market is a great way to observe and learn more about fishes and aquatic creatures without paying for an expensive ticket to Ocean Park. It's free to walk around Goldfish Market and you can get information such as the names, traits, features and how to take care of the fishes, if you ask the store keepers nicely. Other nearby street markets are the Ladies Market, Yuen Po Street Bird Garden and Fa Yuen Street Sneakers Street.

This street doesn't only sell goldfish. It's for all pets. If you want anything pet related come to this street.

What can you say about the Goldfish Market's located in the heart of Hong Kong's, Mong Kok? It's quirky, it's weird & it's stand-alone bizarre. Located on Tung Choi Street, a stone's throw from busy Nathan Road, this busy little street has more fish in it than the Indian Ocean. Looking for a pocket sized turtle? A sea snail? How about a fibreglass castle for your home aquarium? This is your place. If anything, the Goldfish Market makes for a wonderfully vibrant place to point your camera. A great attraction for first time visitors to Hong Kong & an easy place to explore on foot, put Tung Choi Street on your list.

Quite sad to see so many beautiful fish in small plastic bags... really not worth the time in our humble opinion...

If I was either a cat or a dog then the rating of this store would be a five, I'd be in heaven…read morewagging my tail or purring like an engine. But I'm not. I'm a human being and as such pet stores do not light my bulb. The thing is I have two cats that I am totally in love with (one of them anyway, the other one is just annoying). And love makes fools of us all. For example it had me walking into Pet Line thinking, I wonder if one of the cats would appreciate a toy or some catnip? Realistically speaking they wouldn't have a clue how the cat nip arrived, "Oooh that's cool, let's roll around in it... then eat it." Or the toy, "Oooh that's cool, let's scratch it... then eat it." Not a single thank you for the giver. Forgetting about my selfish cats for the time being Pet Line, as far as I know, provides pet owners with just about anything a pet would need. Toys, big cushions or little homes, a range of food, some juicy snacks, and cleaning soaps. The set up is pretty standard with everything organized by category. However, the entire time we were browsing in the shop the shop keeper was checking out the newest gossip on facebook, only paying any attention to us when I asked for a business card. Not that that is a bad thing, I'd rather that than some one hovering over my shoulder! By the time I left I had bought a small pack of catnip and a tiny scratch pad in the hopes that the cats would use that instead of the sofa. I'll be back again during Christmas time for another small prezzie - mainly because I don't know where else to go!

The staff member kindly helped me around the store and answered all of my questions and helped me in and out of the store with everything i needed. Located in the Ferry Street area of Jordon, its not too difficult to find. I would suggest getting off at Austin Station from the West Rail line instead of taking the MTR to Jordon. Few things I've noticed about this place is that here are pets here in crates all the time. The store pets don't seem to get any time outside of their crates, which makes me a bit upset. Dogs, Cats, Birds, they're all just trapped in their little crates watching the day pass. They offer a good range of dried and wet treats for your furry friends. I go with the Western goods that they carry such as Greenies and Zeal products. The prices are fair and they generally have a good stock of them at all times. I do commend the fact that they carry a good selection of dried dog food. Instead of heading to chaotic Mong Kok, pet street, This is a good alternative. From what I remember, they carry all the big names. If there is a product you are interested in that they do not carry, sometimes they will offer to order it for you. That is a good service, but its not always that they would do that for you. I give this place only three stars and not four because when my dog came for his normal grooming appointment one time, the experience wasn't good. They usually have very gentle staff handling the pets, but this time around, the lady taking care of my pup was a new. I kept an eye on her while she was grooming him, and while rinsing the shampoo off him, some shampoo got in his eye. I was worried but was told that the shampoo is very gentle and it there was no need to worry. Two days later, I notice discharge coming from his eye and brought him to the vet. Turns out, the shampoo made a small tear in his cornea and had given him an eye infection. I was gutted. I only hope they will train their staff more throughly to properly groom dogs.

However, I do get the need to provide for our animal brethren, and think that Whiskers N Paws is a great one stop shop for al your pet needs, providing they are cats or dogs. Located in Horizon Plaza in Ap Lei Chau, Whiskers N Paws has a large store filled with all sorts of pet products, raging from the necessary foods, care products, bedding, through to more playful items like squeaky toys and exercise apparatus. The store is spacious and well laid out, so there is plenty of room to wander around, with pets and kids. As well as the store, there is a terrace and play area out the back for your pets to run around in and be sociable. It costs HKD60 per pet, but is nicely kept and a bit of a treat in the city. The terrace area also serves as a "showroom" for the numerous pet adoption days. Kirsten's Zoo runs a cat adoption day every 3rd Sunday of the month, and Hong Kong Dog Rescue runs a puppy day every Sunday. If you are thinking about getting a pet, I would thoroughly recommend these adoption days as a first port of call. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, but there don't seem to be very many around, so you may have to chase around a bit looking for help. The products are reasonably priced, and the range is plentiful. It's nice to be able to come to one big out of town store for everything, rather than numerous mom and pop stores in town.

If you're car-less (like me), there's no way you'd enjoy lugging a 15-pound bag of dog food across town on MTR unless you truly enjoy suffering and sweating profusely. But Whiskers N Paws delivers, and they do it for free - at least on HK island, though I'm not sure if there's a minimum spend. They also carry my Shar Pei's favorite brand of dog food, the Canadian brand Orijen. I was starting to worry that Sasha would have to switch to a different label after moving to HK, and as it turns out only a handful of retailers carry this premium brand. I was also able to scoop up some Earthbath shampoo and wipes (love this natural Californian brand!), a new bed while we await for the fancier one to arrive via shipping container, a banana toy with squeaker, and some premium freeze-dried treats. This may seem excessive, but my pup deserves all of this - and more - following a 15-hour flight! This store with a natural product bent also offers grooming services, pet care classes, and they host events such as adoption days. But get this: they've recently created a permanent cat homing station! This dedicated space shows off beautiful cats to potential feline parents. How's that for causing all the feels? I think that Sasha and I will soon need to make a field trip out of it and visit Whiskers N Paws! Thanks for carrying the first-rate products that Sasha enjoys so much, and for making them so accessible.
