Situated in a corner section of the Fung Yau Street South that is now famed for its variety of restaurants, Chow Chow boasts western dishes at local prices. The menu does change daily though you will always find a steak of some sort and the cream of mushroom soup (a must try) is always available. If the heavier items are causing issues with your waistline then there are also the choices of salads and at times, Japanese bentos (though this is not always on the menu). It has both indoor and outdoor seating whereby your four legged companions are welcomed on the outside portion. Inside it has a calm atmosphere and a huge wall-to-wall photo of the aforesaid canines of which the restaurant is named after. Service is quick but for a reason: they do ask you to return the table at a set time and this may not be to the liking of some. Also an issue is that it is a victim of its own success- getting a table on busy days (e.g. weekends) demands the patience of a saint and service quality is also suffers accordingly. Advice is to go on weekdays and enjoy the dishes which on the island will cost you double or more. Parking is limited and most patrons simply park on the side of the street, though do be prepared to run out to your pride and joy half way through your dinner as the 5-0 come knocking issuing tickets (which could put a real damper on a nice dinner).

My wife and I likes to hunt for specialty coffee shops around the world. It just so happens that Accro coffee has a world siphonist champion and we were hoping to meet her. The store was really well designed. It has a long bar table for the baristas to use, it has many seating indoor and a few outdoor. The store front has coffee related accessories to browse and purchase. Anyway, we didn't had any siphon, we had 2 cups of cappuccino. I forgot which bean we chose but they were both pretty good. Really glad to see the specialty coffee culture is booming in Hong Kong. Hopefully i can visit this coffee shop again soon! We didn't get to meet Pinky this time. Therefore last night we had a reunion to check how everyone is doing. Coming up with a place to accommodate more than ten people is never easy. I tried looking for a café place in Kwun Tong and sadly they could only offer us 6 to 9. And because of its location, we had it change the location to somewhere closer, in this case, closer to our high school where we met. On Ting is currently under huge renovation, now it is even more confusing so I was very pleased to have found this café which seems to be having quite a lot of positive reviews. Since it does not take reservation, we had to just walk-in. Luckily we could get a big table after half an hour. The décor here is rather western with wooden tables and dark red chairs - rather relaxing and kind of cottage-like. The food here is VERY CHEAP surprisingly. We ordered 10 main dishes and each of us paid less than a hundred (we had eleven people). I took a picture of the pork knuckle. I would not say it tastes exceptional but it only cost less than a hundred... The food quality here is all right but I would say it is very bold of them to have picked this location to open. They also have board games for diners to play after their meal. Since it closes at half past 11, lots of people would spend a long time chatting and in our case, catching up. One thing I have to point out is that the staff are nice but it seems like they really take their time in terms of cleaning the tables and taking away the plates... we saw one table that was left untidy for more than an hour... Anyways, I had a great time there and the best part definitely is the cheap price here.
