My Dear is one of the bigger pet shops in the area. They offer dog grooming services along with a…read moregood variety of pet foods and treats. Located in the Ferry Street area of Jordon, its not too difficult to find. I would suggest getting off at Austin Station from the West Rail line instead of taking the MTR to Jordon. Few things I've noticed about this place is that here are pets here in crates all the time. The store pets don't seem to get any time outside of their crates, which makes me a bit upset. Dogs, Cats, Birds, they're all just trapped in their little crates watching the day pass. They offer a good range of dried and wet treats for your furry friends. I go with the Western goods that they carry such as Greenies and Zeal products. The prices are fair and they generally have a good stock of them at all times. I do commend the fact that they carry a good selection of dried dog food. Instead of heading to chaotic Mong Kok, pet street, This is a good alternative. From what I remember, they carry all the big names. If there is a product you are interested in that they do not carry, sometimes they will offer to order it for you. That is a good service, but its not always that they would do that for you. I give this place only three stars and not four because when my dog came for his normal grooming appointment one time, the experience wasn't good. They usually have very gentle staff handling the pets, but this time around, the lady taking care of my pup was a new. I kept an eye on her while she was grooming him, and while rinsing the shampoo off him, some shampoo got in his eye. I was worried but was told that the shampoo is very gentle and it there was no need to worry. Two days later, I notice discharge coming from his eye and brought him to the vet. Turns out, the shampoo made a small tear in his cornea and had given him an eye infection. I was gutted. I only hope they will train their staff more throughly to properly groom dogs.

I was referred to this place from a friend that is one of the biggest animal lovers I know. I called to see if there was availability, and the staff were very helpful and quick to get back to me. They were able to answer all my questions without any hesitation and also welcomed to me to take a visit before bringing my dog to them. I took a taxi as it seemed a bit challenging to get there by MTR (or maybe I was just lazy) From the outside, it seemed a bit tatty and quiet. Once i went it, I noticed a nicely lit place that looked and smelled clean. There is an area straight towards the back for dogs to play every now and then. This place also does training and are of the few places in Hong Kong to have a swimming pool for dogs. I think this is for rehabilitation purposes for injured dogs, but I may be wrong. The dogs are in their own space for the most part, and everyday, they are walked. I felt confident to leave my buddy with them while I was out of town. Be sure that your little friend has all their shots up to date as you will be expected to provide all the information along with AVID chip numbers before they are allowed to stay.

Five weeks ago I brought my 1 year old dog in to check out a hard lump next to her spine. The doctor (who was very kind and knowledgeable) recommended a biopsy of the lump, and warned that he had recently seen a case in which a highly aggressive cancer was removed from a young dog. He assured me that we should have the results in 10-14 days. I have since called Acorn Vet no fewer than 8 times to get the results of that biopsy. After multiple inquiries, I was told that one of the samples was lost in the mail, but assured that the other half of the lump would be sent to the lab by urgent request, and that I would definitely have results in one week. That was 12 days ago, and since then I have been given the complete run around by a staff who keeps telling me they will call me back, but fails to do so. I am worried sick about my dog and whether she does in fact have an aggressive cancer, in which case we've wasted precious weeks waiting for a completely incompetent office to get back to me. We are now in a situation in which we have no choice but to wait to see IF we ever get the results, as we no longer even have the lump sample to be tested by another vet clinic. The doctors at Acorn Vet seem just fine but if they ever recommend a biopsy, please be cautioned that results may take far longer than they quote you, and the staff will treat you like an annoyance.
