Rarely found non commercial veterinary in town! They also offer Acupunture for dogs and cats and with a lot of successful cases. Acupunture improves mobility and circulations just like how it works on humans. Well trusted place to bring your animals to for any medical help, regular checkup, vaccine, and treatments!

Peace Avenue Veterinary Clinic is located on Liberty Avenue in Mongkok near all the pet shops…read more There are plenty of little of veterinary offices nearby, but I chose this one because it offers around the clock care. This is a fully equipped veterinary office. The have 24 hour emergency service, so I feel like if anything serious happens, I can just take my dog, Teddy, to his regular hospital. Most of the veterinarians here have been trained overseas and they have specialists qualified to do emergency surgeries if necessary. This also means that you can get quick in house referrals and see specialists the same day. It's nice to know that when my four legged friend needs some care, there are good qualified doctors available to check him out, and it's a bonus that they speak English. They also have modern equipment to closely monitor your pet's health. The lobby is huge and it's nice because they have space for furry friends to sit next to you, even if found have an oversized lap doggy. I'm not quite sure exactly what other animals they treat besides dogs and cats, but I would trust any of my animals to get quality care at the PAVC. This is the Cadillac of veterinary offices in Hong Kong.

They asked us to do random set of tests even though the root cause of his problem was already known. Then they recommended us to go to a specific general practitioner, even though we needed to a see a neurologist who is our pet's regular doctor (just for some internal politics and extra doctor's individual consultation fees). Eventually when we didn't agree, they handed us over a HKD 5000 bill in 30 mins, for doing our pet's blood test and 15 min doctor's visit.

I have always had a penchant for dogs and one rule that I stick to: I will not buy dogs from…read morebreeders. Period. Yes, that would mean that I never had a realistic choice when it comes a particular breed of dog I like (as your choice depends on the ones that they are trying to home a any given moment) but I have always believed that your pets are destined to be with you and in this case its even more so. My experience with the SPCA has been quite a pleasant one. After indicating that I would like to adopt a dog, we were shown the different dogs that they were trying to re-home: there were puppies, grown ups and even a few older ones. We ended up choosing a puppy around 4 months old and named her after the building we got her from- Pamela. There are the various assessments that SPCA has to go through in terms of assessing whether your home will be a suitable place and that whether you have people taking care of her. That we passed with flying colours and I guess its absolutely necessary that they make sure the dogs they have will be treated with care. Cost wise, if you factor in all the vaccinations and administrative costs it does come to prices around that at pet shops- but in adopting you are stopping breeders from doing what they do and that I'm happy to pay for. The guys at the SPCA do a great job and I do think they need all the support they can get!
