The convenience of this restaurant to & from our hotel made the experience even better, especially considering that we visited during peak summer weather. It is conveniently located in Mira Place, so you can explore the mall before or after your meal. We arrived sometime late afternoon & were seated right away. Once we were seated, our waiter explained to us their ordering system which I forgot, but also because my Chinese is not that great, lol. If I remembered correctly, they have different sets of food choices you can choose from that's AYCE. I personally thought it was a little pricey, but the fact that the service, quality, & taste of the food was impressive, I have no complaints. Especially since it is AYCE too, lol. We payed about ~$66 USD/person between 2 people. If you're a dimsum lover & are looking to experience fine dining, I highly recommend this place! The workers were kind enough to pull our seats out & even placed a cloth on our lap for us, haha. If this isn't considered a fine dining experience, then I don't know what is, lol. Can't wait to visit HKG in the near future so I could eat here again!

The restaurant serves as a normal Cantonese seafood restaurant where you can order from their menu.  Or, you can select and purchase live seafood from one of the big seafood stalls close by the restaurant, and the seafood stall will send the purchased seafood up to the restaurant to prepare into delicious hot cooked dishes!  And we did the latter!  The restaurant only charges a processing fee.  The rate varies according to the kind of seafood and cooking method used.  They also charge a little higher rate if you dine in one of their private rooms.  If you don't want to buy live seafood yourself, the vast menu of the restaurant seemed very attractive and interesting with reasonable prices too. Brother-in-law seemed to be a regular of the restaurant and had reserved a private room for our dinner. We had a large table that was very spacious for our party of 6. We first went to a large seafood stall together.  After consulting us, Brother-in-law selected seafood that our entire party would like to eat. We got a large Star Grouper from the fish tank, a bunch of large prawns, razor clams, 2 large Flower Crabs, and 6 large scallops in fan-shaped seashells.  Brother-in-law also ordered stir-fried steak with walnuts while we were at the restaurant, and refreshing Osmanthus cakes as desserts. He also purchased a bottle of red wine from outside the restaurant.  Since the manager knew him well, they might have waived the corkage fee. Everything was cooked nicely and was delicious!  And of course, so FRESH!  I only felt that the grouper might have been overcooked a tad, though.  I was happy that we had a private room, since it was a Sunday and the large regular dining area was so busy and crowded. Apparently, the restaurant is located inside a mall (we entered through the back of the building for the convenience), and there are no washrooms inside the restaurant.  The washrooms are outside the restaurant by the elevators of the mall.  You have to grab as much toilet paper as you anticipate you would need from a common huge roll mounted on the wall outside all the stalls.  We had been spoiled since all the other washrooms that we had been to in Hong Kong and Shenzhen were modern, clean, and each stall equipped with toilet paper.  So, mind you if you ever have a chance to go to these washrooms. This dinner of delicious live seafood was very fun and  memorable and was really worth the trip!  Everybody was full and happy, and we were very grateful as well!

The waiter will bring you a to-go cup of coffee if you ask....nice! The automatic pancake maker was somewhat entertaining. The dinner buffet was excellent - but expensive at about $75.00 US. It was a seafood buffet with lots of selection. Pricy but good....did not feel ripped off due to the nice selection. Incidentally, room service (from the same kitchen??) made a wonderful spaghetti carbonara and a club sandwich that we enjoyed on several nights of our stay. There are very few restaurant choices around this restaurant and the neighboring mall is a "ghost mall"...lots of empty storefronts.

We tried the following: Cucumber swirls marinated in rice vinegar with white button mushrooms and red chili. A crunchy cooling appetizer. Sweet & Sour Tenderloin - their version of the classic Cantonese dish. Served in a cloud flowing dish. Bite size piece of meaty pork in a light batter, smothered in sweet & tangy sauce with a hint of chili pepper. Shrimp with Vermicelli - raw butterfly shrimp on top of vermicelli steamed in a clay pot table side with soy/garlic based gravy. Very umami and the shrimp were cooked just right. Fried Rice w/Truffle and Beef - honestly this is just like beef fried rice with a very very slight hint of truffle. Tasty but not special. Mango Shaved Ice - their take on shaved ice with a whimsical marsh mellow panda bear and red bean paste in the middle of the shaved ice. A very refreshing dessert and good ending to a savory dinner. Better than most mall food!

Made a reservation about a month in advance for a party of seven, and I was definitely impressed…read moreinitially coming in to the hotel and then up to the restaurant. The location once in the hotel isn't straightforward; we needed the lobby hotel staff to guide us to the restaurant. The views from the restaurant is amazing, similar to what you can see from the Peak with how high up the building it is. Some issues we had with service included the fact that some of the staff did not seem to know Cantonese, which was difficult when some of my party members did not speak English well. One other issue was that the food took an incredibly long time to come out. Our reservation was at 12:30, and we had thought 2 hours should be good enough to get through lunch as we had plans by 2:30-3pm, but dessert came out at 2:30 and it made us late. For the actual food, I enjoyed most of the French style flavors, the fresh seafood, the colorful schemes. Appetizers included small bites of unique tasting biscuits and bread. I loved the oyster presentation, it was colorful and just a bit sweet tasting, a lot different from the oysters around the West Coast. The crab was fresh and delicious as well, though like most Michellin restaurants I just wish there was more of it. They are known for the grilled giant prawn, which has the entire body already peeled, but the entire head is intact which is where all the juice is at, to be soaked up with some bread. The puree didn't match completely with the prawn flavor, but the prawn itself was very good. The wagyu was not bad, lightly salted/peppered and comes with a mushroom puree and mushroom on the side which does go well together. I wouldn't say it's the number one best wagyu I've ever had, but it's solid. One or two dishes can be a bit more disappointing than the others. For example the duck breast, as well as the dessert course with truffles, was not very memorable. I'm glad to have had this experience with a nice bright, energetic but classy vibe, but there were things I wish were better including a serving time of over 2 hours. They are known for the prawns, but really can't go wrong with most seafood, there may be 1-2 foods that might not hit the spot, and for the price of it (around $300 USD/person) compared to other 1 star Michellin's, I'm not sure how soon I would think of coming back.

Golden Castle has been around for long enough to be an institution, it serves "western food" that has been adapted for local taste including favourites such as baked pork chop rice and baked escargot. The menu harks back to the days when locals did not have much choice in terms of "western food" (limited to those who had the cash for it anyways) and many local restaurateurs had to adapt their menus to appeal to the local population. That gave birth to a local stream of delicacies that are uniquely Hong Kong. Back to the restaurant itself, it has both an indoor and outdoor patio- the outdoor section would be a nice place to sit back for tea and it will afford you a great view of the surrounding area. Be warned though- the service quality of this restaurant is not something to write home about and the general quality of food does seem to vary with the mood of the chef on the day. Indeed, this restaurant may not be the last word in quality but the fact is this: this location is very unique and the style of food served is also something of a tradition. If you were having a day out in the Shek Kong/ Pat Heung area then I would certainly visit this place, as a reminder to the quieter days.
