When I entered, a staff asked me how many and then showed me to a table. There's a QR code to order, or you can request a physical menu. Must have: tea and coffee latte that I could only get in Hong Kong, Tsui Wah's signature fish balls rice noodle soup (i debated), and I ordered a side of scrambled eggs. The beverage came out first, then the eggs, and finally the noodle. If you haven't visited Hong Kong, the table is equipped with a drawers for the utensil and napkins. I totally forgot and when I asked for more napkins a friendly wait staff showed me the drawers. :) My neighboring tables had a different order, and their foods also looked good. While it is a chain restaurant, it serves up some great foods.

Tsui Wah (翠華) is a popular chain…read moreof Cha Chaan Teng in Hong Kong that serves some unique dishes in addition to the many classical Western-Cantonese dishes. Here are some of the items we ate here: Steamed Rice with BBQ Pork and Scrambled Eggs (神之叉燒飯) - 4/5. I love both char siu and Hong Kong-style scrambled eggs, so this dish is a no-brainer for me. Overall, it's good (enough); everything came together. However, there's room for improvement. The char siu has too much fat and needs a bit more searing. The scrambled egg could have been more velvety and less greasy. Hainanese Chicken Rice (大勝三方海南雞) - 3/5. I love that they serve a good soup with more ingredients than just chicken stock. I also like their ginger sauce, which isn't just grated ginger with oil but a puree mixture with additional ingredients. The texture of the chicken is good, but the meat tasted quite tasteless. The rice is okay. Crispy Noodle with Sweet and Sour Prawns on Sizzling Plate (哈哈笑雙面黃)--2/5. Disappointing. The noodle on my dish looked thinner than the one shown on the menu photo. The sauce is too thickened and more like gravy than sauce; it is one-dimensional with a simple taste profile that is just too sweet. Then there was too much sauce over the thin noodles, which ultimately caused the noodles to clump up. Char Siu Bao (叉燒包) - 3/5. Average Char Siu Bao. This is the baked version. I like the outer layer of the dough, which I believe has a nice coating of egg wash that gives the bao a slightly sweeter, crusty texture. However, the overall dough isn't as fluffy as I would like. The Char Siu filling is a bit sweeter. I would like to taste a good half-half of sweetness and savoriness.

The braised meat and soup had very little gaminess and tasted clean and balanced. The meat was tender. One downside of the dish is that the fish is not only ultra-processed but has a very mushy texture. Overall, Ramen Souo Noodles with Braised Beef is still a good dish. Beef Fried Rice Noodles (亁炒牛河) are almost the national dish of Hong Kong, so the standards for making the dish are high. I was quite disappointed with their Beef Fried Rice Noodle. The dish wasn't necessarily bad. The noodles had the right texture, moisture, and taste. But everything else in the food was below average. The beef was of poor quality and tasteless. The spring onions, chives, and bean sprouts were too overcooked.

Started of with the French toast that comes with a slice of biter and side of syrup. Next was peanut butter toasted sandwich with condense milk and sprinkled with Milo. Peanut butter was good and tasted if they made it themselves and not a prepackaged one. Last of the dish that came was the Cha chaan Tang all time favorite. Fried chicken leg with a choice of French fries or salad, so i chose the fries. When the chicken arrived, I let it cool down a bit as you can literally feel the heat come from it. After letting the chicken rest a bit, I cut straight into the joint as this is the area that normally gets under cooked. Sure enough, my was definitely under cooked as you can see red meat still clinging onto the bone. So I had brought this to the attention of the wait staff that it was under cooked and showed here the part of the chicken leg that was under. Although I was already expecting them to re-fry the same chicken, but was I in for a surprise. The kitchen decided to fry the chicken leg to the point where the exterior turn to a dark golden brown and chewing the meat seemed it took for days before you could swallow it. To top it all off, they didn't even change the fries. HELLO! juice from undercooked chicken had gotten onto the fries. Obviously the kitchen staff needs to get re-educated as they forgot that salmonella and the effects it has on to ones body. I had brought this to the attention of what appears to be a manager level, but got a reply was more like they could care less. The kitchen guys were definitely taking a pist at the kitchen and if they don't see anything wrong with under cooked chicken an issue or their fault, then we have an issue to the public. Definitely would be coming back here for a looooong while, unless you want to test your immune system as who knows what elder could be done wrong

A CLASSIC Hong Kong cha chan teng (or HK Cafe) but not what you traditionally think of as a cafe…read more It's more of a restaurant that has both British and Hong Kong influenced foods. Every person in HK grew up going to these frequently for every meal!! We got the beef satay with instant noodles soup and the tomato borscht macaroni soup with beef brisket. Both came with scrambled eggs and a piece of toast. Sadly, butter was an extra charge which was a bit shocking. Both soups were pretty standard, but becuz this restaurant is at the airport, it was worse than the Tsui wah's outside. Mostly came here for the nostalgic factor!! There was a steady flow of customers coming in the entire time we were there, and they have a huge open space with mostly tables of four or more.

Other reviews from actual brick & mortar locations compared the restaurant to the Denny's of HK which made me smile. I can't speak on the food...only the bun which was one of the best I had during my vacation. Crunchy top, pillowy soft bread...I didn't feel bad going back for a second but they were sold out. Staff was prompt; our interaction was brief since I knew what I wanted. Lots of people eating in the restaurant which I can see being a nice perk from cold sandwiches or other grab and gos I'm more familiar with.

This location has a little bakery on the outside that sells egg tarts and typical bakery food. On weekend mornings, you'll see a long line at the bakery section because the pastries taste great and are really affordable - hk$7 for a pineapple bun and hk$10 for a pineapple bun with a slab of butter, which is a hk staple. They also sell Mexican custard buns, which I realized are really popular at these chain hk cafes, but I've never tried them. I did try the egg tarts here for just hk$6. They're so good! Flaky just the way I like it, but not as sweet as nyc egg tarts. Mind you, these bakery items are available not only as to go orders but to stay orders. They make great breakfast food or even an afternoon snack. The first time I ate here was for breakfast and I ordered one of those set meals. I got the beef with pasta in tomato soup. The set included a hot drink and two buns with egg and ham. The meal wasn't that memorable but I came back for dinner cause the food pics looked so good. I love hk baked minced beef over rice/spaghetti, and the ones here are unbelievably good. I love how perfect the egg they add on top looks and it's runny! I'm not a big eater but I'm usually able to finish the whole dish because that's just how tasty it is. I've also had their soup noodles here before and the portion is huge. Honestly, you won't regret coming here. There's a wide range of items on the menu to suit everyone's tastes and budget.
