She likes meeting people and asks her visitors to write something in the guest book and to take a photo with her. I went through 3 photo books of her visitors. Some come back every year, some send personal gifts. And she remembers everyone. I also got a nice print of her husband's drawings as a present. One of the staples is always the cheung fun (rice rolls), lathered in soy sauce, peanut sauce and sweet sauce, with a sprinkle of sesame. Their stuffed "3 treasures" are good as well. That is another classic dish consisting of green bell pepper, eggplant and tofu, each stuffed with a generous amount of fish paste. It's a difficult dish to get right. If not floured well the fish paste will not stick to the vegetables, and the veggies can get overly soggy due to the deep frying. But not here! They are generous with the amount of fish paste, and the vegetables were fried to decent crispiness. This is food that seems like they should be everywhere but is slowly getting replaced by trendy foods. It's also very difficult to get decent versions of these outside of Hong Kong. I highly recommend just stopping by and trying a few things as breakfast or afternoon snack.

Just look for the signage, but more importantly, someone grilling shellfish galore, smothered in garlic, or cheese, or just a very simple marination like soy sauce or salt/pepper. The smell alone will entice you to come over. Loss of willpower will lead you to just walk into the eatery, grab a stool and start ordering. Don't know what to get? Grilled prawn - HK$35 each (with garlic or cheese) Grilled abalone - HK$40 each Baked oyster with cheese - HK$20 each Grilled scallop on the shell - HK$35 each Sea snails in spicy sauce - HK$45 per plate. After eating 永華麵家, we ended up coming here to continue our Wanchai food crawl. There was no lines so it only took around 10 minute or less for my order to be ready. I love that freshly prepared smell. Crispy on the outside and soft/chewy on the inside with just a hint of sweetness.... and of course the aroma of egg! Just the way I like mine!
