You WILL have a hard time finding the ideal food if you come here for a plant-based/vegan meal--there's just too much animal product. Aside from the ingredients, the taste of each dish fails to hold up to the regular vegetarian or Shanghainese food standard. They are either too sweet or salty, and even suspicious of using low quality MSG. I feel ill and dry right after the meal. The service is also the worst you can expect. We arrived at the reception but were greeted by no one, waiting for the receptionist to finish a long call. We were led into the dining area and were seated at an extremely noisy table near the kitchen where the servers organize the utensils. They seem to have a problem with anyone who doesn't speak Cantonese and really don't care if their own expression or demeanor will bother the customers. And the price is deceptive and very high. There is no hint on the menu of any service surcharge, and they mandatorily charge you 10% of the total on the bill, without informing you in anyway. They give you free-looking appetizer when seating you and charge you in the end. The black tea I had tasted moldy. Also, the price of rice here is a shocking $26 HKD per bowl in the Hong Kong-China area where most of the rice as a carb complement costs, at the very most, $10 HKD per bowl. We a party of 2 spent $52 HKD on the rice alone and were not told about the price when it was asked for. In the end, the view from the restaurant was not the expected harbour skyline but the back of the roof of a museum facing the harbour. With the malfunctioning AC, it's an unsightly and cold experience just sitting there. Again, I do NOT recommend literally anyone this restaurant.

They have a counter window with various salads, pastas, veg, and meats. The portions are small, but it comes with your choice of white or mix-grain rice, and a drink - very nicely presented. It's not really a full meal, but it's perfect if you're not that hungry, and the taste of each selection is quite exquisitely crafted for you to get a good sample of each. It is every bit as tight as other HK eateries, with folks often sharing tables and not particularly a good fit for large groups. The place is clean and interestingly has a lot of portraits of pets. Most folks are gunning for their curry fishballs and cheung fun rice rolls, which can be directly accessed from their street side window. The fish balls have good texture and that spongy exterior is good with the pseudo spicy curry sauce. I love the rice rolls with a little peanut butter sauce and sesame, which is semi-addicting. There is also their siu mai, which seems on par with many of the food stalls, but is better with a bit of sweet soy and chili oil. Washing it all down with their cold and sweet soya milk (凍豆漿) is highly recommended. Since they're constantly crowded, the service works very quickly. I don't recall them accepting credit cards, but I have always paid in cash or with an octopus card. Compared to their Mong Kok location near the Flower Market, I would still choose this one in YMT.

The folks who run the place are certainly quite nice, and after some consultation with the server, I took his recommendation for green curry with chicken. We have a very good Thai food scene in Los Angeles, and while I assumed it would be good here in Hong Kong, unfortunately this was a bit of a disappointment (I was later told by an HK foodie that the Thai food is in fact better in LA). The first thing that put me off was the chicken. It may be that chicken here at the smaller places tends to use more "humble" cuts than we're used to in the States, with fat and skin attached, and there was something a little strange about the texture to me. While I've never seen cauliflower in a green curry--there were also string beans--it was certainly fine. But the other problem was green curry itself. It just didn't have a ton of flavor. Maybe they figured "white guy, let's make it super bland," but even if it's not spicy--and I told them medium was fine--it should still be flavorful. So even though everyone here was nice and the food was certainly reasonable in price, it's hard to say things were A-OK when this dish unfortunately was a bit lacking.
