For some reason - maybe TST is too touristy - I've never had good massage experience here. However, if Jando the ex-CM of HK gave this a 5, I figure it's worth a try. The entrance of the building and the stairs up are rather seedy, but the inside of this place is well lit (not office bright but not shady dark either) and clean. Once I walked in, I received a gentle, unrushed greeting so trademark of Thai hospitality, and was asked to sit down, take off my shoes and enjoy a cup of lemongrass tea. Okay, I would be lying to say that 60 min of pure bliss followed. Thai massage is NOT the gentle type to put you to sleep. At moments it feels like schoolyard bullying, at moments I feel like a round of bread dough, and once and twice I wondered why I pay to subject myself to such torture. Everyone loves a good massage. The ultimate for me is a Thai Yoga massage, where limbs are bent, all corners of the body are stretched, and the relief from the intensity is second to none. I have to admit I wasn't expecting much from Thai Zone; a newish massage spot on the second floor in the Rose Mansion amid the chaos of TST, but it was what I was hoping for: clean, affordable, authentically Thai, and above all, very satisfying. This area of Kowloon is fairly dodgy, but surprisingly Thai Zone's facilities are anything but. The floors were redone and super shiny, the odor in the room had this tart incense like aroma, and the massage chairs were comfy. The owner, Murphy was quick to greet with a cup of Thai tea, which was lukewarm fruity blend of something wonderful. By the end of my session, I had no less than 10 mini cups of it. I think I could drink it all day. We started off with a change into flexible pajamas and then a 45 minute foot massage, which was done by one of the Thai masseuses. While grinding the gears of my feet, she was able to converse in a variety of languages, which was mighty impressive. I won't lie, the foot and subsequent leg massage was incredibly intense to where I had to bite a towel for a minute or two, but I was assured this was normal and supposedly better for loosening up the muscles. The rule of thumb is to bear the pain and embrace the comfort after the fact. Then it was off to the races with the back/body massage. I was always used to Thai massages being conducted on a floor mat than a massage bed, but it didn't matter: She got me in poses that would make any yoga warrior proud. The one that provided the most relief was one where her feet were on my back, her arms were pulling my arms and soon my back responded with a series of clicks that were chiropractor worthy. There were moments where I nearly fell asleep. It's only a matter of time before I visit this gem again, especially when the joints are feeling stiff and the knots are invading again. Lastly, call ahead of time for 10pm or later visits and be sure to bring cash as they don't accept credit card yet. I emailed the business through yelp to make a same day appointment and received an answer within minutes. I decided to book a one hour Thai Massage for 288 HK$, a little more expensive than I'm used to but the reviews made it seem worth it. Upon arrival I was given slippers, Thai pants and a tee shirt to change into. I love this feature! I used the restroom, it was pristine. The beds were separated by curtains but it felt like you were in your own room and everything was very clean. Noi gave me my massage and she was AMAZING. It was a true Thai massage with cracking and stretching and digging into sore muscles but I left feeling like a new woman. Before leaving I was given a cup of tea, which was very welcome. First time getting a Thai massage ever - NOT for the faint of heart. I was hurting...like the lady massaging me beat me up both real good and bad . So I got off a 16 hr flight, and considering how I have upper back problems, by the time I reached the end of my first day in HK, my chest was super tight and my upper back was feel strained and uncomfortable. I scheduled a massage via calling them, and luckily they were open at 9pm the night before Chinese New Year! I had called another place, but since I wanted specifically chest and back help, that place didn't have the "sifu" I needed. Entrance to massage place is the 2nd Floor! The first floor looks sketchy AF - a residential building entrance perhaps? Once you arrive, you ring the doorbell outside the glass door. Establishment is professional - they offer you free tea, ask you your needs, communication in English is good enough to ask them to massage whichever area, give you a comfy t-shirt+baggy pants PJ set, ask you to place your clothes and items in a neat basket. Oh, and the bathroom is neat, clean, & friendly. Massage time: Started out slow, and the relaxing painful. Midway through, I think this is when the real Thai massage started happening? Never had one, so I wouldn't know. Idk if the lady was massaging my tendons or whatever musculature - she kept rubbing back and forth on these movable parts. It motherfucking hurt, especially the NECK. If you can stand a painful massage, then go for it! Night of the massage, I slept like a BABY, and woke up the next morning sore, but without bruises or jetlag. I just felt refreshed and like I had a new body. Do it if you want to spend $288HKD. This little shop is located in Tsim Sha Tsui , very close to the mtr station , the doorway to the building is a little hard to find , but is just next to the food vendor on the corner . Make sure you end up in the right place , as there is a massage place 1 floor below . The shop is clean and ambient is great and comfortable , we had the foot massage for $198 / 45 minutes, it was fabulous, we really enjoyed the experience and came away feeling relax after a long day of walking , would definitely recommend this little shop . The girls are actually from Thailand and are very good at what they do , we were a little skeptical after some negative experience with other shops in Hong Kong with mainland and local masseuse that were actually talking and texting on their phone all the time during our massages , that's why we wanted to try a Thai place instead . Came to Hong Kong coming off a 13hr flight. Busy with work and the heat and the crowds. I needed a massage! With a little searching I found Thai Zone Massage and made an appointment. A quick trip on the MTR to TST and up a few stairs to this comfy and simple place. I was greeted by the friendly staff and settled into some loose clothes and a quiet table. What a massage! Ping really knows her stuff. I complained of neck pain, but she knows the source of the pain comes from all over the body. She took her time over the hour to hone in on tense points I didn't even know were sore. The massage was strong and firm (how I like it!) but Ping always checked in to make sure you were doing ok. At the end of the massage, Murphy is there to greet his patrons and offer a cup of tea. You can relax as long as you like. All in all a very good massage and experience for a good price. Good foot massage. Open floor plan and nice clean shop, all Thai staff. Some Thai style decorations in the table side of the room, with 3 chairs for the foot massage area. I wasn't sure a room could be more purple in color, but it's clean. And free wifi! The price is more than some in other areas of Kowloon, but the price was worth it for us. My wife got to practice her Thai and we both felt the pressure and technique during the 1 hour massage, was nearly as good as the common foot massages found in and around Bangkok. Now, there was the lighting. Wow it's bright in here! For our late Friday night arrival, after a 420, the lights were harsh. A bit of a climb up to the 2nd floor (2 flights of stairs) but the A/C is nice and the boss working the counter was attentive. Overall a good experience. First, massage is given on massage table and not on matress on the floor. This is complicated for some technical mouvements. There was only one masseuse (150 cm /80kg?), which provide a kind of extremly strong massage. I like strong massage. But this time it was more a kind of brutal torture. This massage has been especially unpleasant. She tried to compensate poor technic with strength. She focused on the tense of my back with bad result : I contract to try to limit extrem pain due to excessive pressure. The massage of the other parts was poor : The torture was during 70 min on 90 min. Price is also amazing : that's 248 HKD for 60 min, so for 90 min, you can expect (248/2)*3 = 372. No, that's 398 HKD.. Expensive, painful, bad technic: avoid!!! read more
