It's not easy picking one but I decide on Fuunmaru as it offers tsukemen, which is hardly to find in the States. The broth comes bubbly hot (up to 300C = 572F, its poster claims) in a stone pot, and is luscious, rich and flavorful with prominent notes of pork and fish. It's too heavy and salty for sipping, but excellent as a dipping sauce for the bouncy, thick noodles. I like thick noodles so this is perfect. The pork is a large, thick cut that is mostly lean with a bit of fat attached. You can select how much noodles you want: 200g, 300g, 400g, or 800 for additional charge. I asked for 200, but the waitress insisted that I should order more, and warned that should I want extra noodles after the bowl arrives, it would additional charge. Turned out that I should have stayed with my intuition as I ended up with leftover. This place also offers children portion, and has interesting drink options imported from Japan.

The restaurant was packed but we were able to snag one of the last two person tables. They have a wide variety of ramen on their menu. While I know Tsukemen is their thing, their ramen noodles in broth looked just as good! So we went with that. I got the miso ramen with no pork, added mixed vegetables and corn. The same for my lady except she added a poached egg on top. The broth was flavorful and hearty. The noodles were perfectly chewy and al dente. The bowls are huge and the ingredient portions are super generous! We also had an order of the regular pan-fried gyoza and it was delicious! Prices are reasonable here. Service is quick and good.

This place order executively Miso ramen. If that is what you like, you might enjoy this a lot. The soup is very tasty with strong miso taste, good balanced thickness and pork taste in the broth. As always, Hk ramen is pricey. I figure must be due to the rent. So this place is as pricy as the others. Yet, I paid extra for more pork and egg, they all worthy of the added price. The pork at least is thick enough to add texture to the dish, while the egg still taste warm from the inside. The noodle is thick, smooth and with the right level of chewiness. If I want ramen, I will come here for it.

I however, did not heed their warnings and I still plowed through their extra spicy miso ramen with pork. I like their ramen though, the noodles were thick and cooked just right. The broth was tasty and having the scallions in it add the right amount of coolness and crispness, well it would have been the right amount if I hadn't asked the to overload it on the chili powder. We also ended up splitting both the fried chicken and the dumplings. I liked the sweet mustard dip that the chicken came in and everyone else liked the dumplings. If I want good miso based ramen, I'll come here first.

Good thing they have good service - you can read their menu ahead of time and order right away once you are seated. And the menu is only a small selection - choose a ramen base, toppings, thickness of noodles. I chose the black squid version, with thick noodles. The broth overall is very strong and thick. A lot of flavours hitting the palette. The noodles were done to the right level. Inside the restaurant is very small, probably around 15-20 people. Pricing wise was around $15 CDN.

Even the ground meat was covered in squid ink! This was a really good ramen, even if I did feel kinda thirsty afterwards. The noodles were Chinese rather than the Japanese ramen, which was ok, but it would really be better if they had the latter! The pork belly was so fat and thinly cut though, oh my gosh. You could add pickled radishes and veggies from little jars on your table (one was spicy and the other was very salty)-- both were delicious. You share that as well as any more spicy seasoning and communal water. My bf got the Red King and it wasn't as spicy as he thought it would be, and it is more chili oil than actual chili powder. His soup was salty as well. I quite like this place for its novelty ramen. If you know what you like, you can also customize your ramen!

Guess bc it's inside a mall. The soup base is always familiar, the noodle texture is good, the fixings were ok. I was a bit thrown off by the char siu... thought I ordered the new kind for my husband and son but turns out it was the same. So the menu was a bit confusing. The gyoza in black garlic oil is great. Super hot! So be warn. lol QR code ordering. Service was fine, they brought the food to us. It's self checkout by bringing up to the register to check out.

There is a counter up front and tables in the back suitable for larger groups. I had stopped by earlier in the week with a vegetarian colleague and was told they had no vegetarian options so be aware of that (no issue for me). They have ordering online by scanning a QR code and it was easy enough to navigate; a server was helpful in making a few recommendations before I confirmed my order. The ramen came out quickly (it was early on a week night, so not busy). I had a BBQ pork option and it was good, though not as good as ramen that I have had stateside. I paid a small premium for extra noodles, but they came on a side plate so were somewhat dry and not as enjoyable as the main dish. Prices were quite reasonable, so if you are craving ramen I would say Ippudo is worth a try.
