Selection. Price. Convenience.
We ordered everything we wanted to try and the bill only came out to the equivalent of $40 USD.
If you go during peak lunch or dinner time, expect a line. We stayed at the Conrad Hotel next door so we had the luxury of getting to check in every so often to see if there was a line.
Not sure if we needed to do that. The food is brought out within minutes of your order and the seating is setup in traditional ramen style communal tables. Not a problem since there is enough space for your ramen, the ridiculous number of sides you order, beers and tea.
We ordered the cucumber appetizer which basically acts as a refreshing side dish (only in the HK location), seasoned wings which were our favorite, potato salad chilled in a sealed jar, light and creamy delicious dessert pudding, asparagus kushikatsu, gyozas with ginger (only HK), BBQ pork bun (mayo and lettuce inside) and, of course, the ramen. I wish I ordered the featured black curry ramen but my date wanted the original. The original was great like many other great ones.
They have a press for some pickled garlic and it is a must try. Just put a little into one bite if you're weary. I loved it and could really see why they recommend it. Also make sure you add some of the additional toppings.
Everything was great. We are from Los Angeles so we have had the gamut of various ramen shops. This ramen was based in Furokoka, Japan so the flavor is just off the charts. If you've had KitaKata Ramen in Orange County you'll taste the similarities.
Apparently the price is nearly half of what you would pay in New York so get your fill. Their menu is much more extensive as they feature items served in other countries and the menu will acknowledge it (i.e. Singapore, Japan, etc.) read more
