We arrived 15 minutes before opening and were soon joined by other "wagyu sando" seekers (popularized in foodie IG photos). Ambiance - Modern fusion with a Millennial / hipster vibe. Upon entering, you'll be greeted with an enthusiastic chorus of "Fukuro!" Food - Innovative & trendy with a focus on aesthetics. Food was pretty good with nice flavor combinations. As other Yelpers have mentioned, the corn is a standout and I would absolutely order this again. The wagyu sando is also quite popular due to the aforementioned IG foodie features (sandwich verdict: it was good, but not mind-blowing. Flavors were more mild relative to their other dishes). We really enjoyed the Market Fish Tartare and Hamachi Collar, but weren't into the Beef Tartare (we were expecting the semi-seared versions we've had previously vs. being completely raw, but this was our fault). Service - Nice, attentive staff. Very English-friendly.

Overall, the food here is good and the atmosphere I also enjoyed. I wasn't blown away by anything in particular but at the same time I enjoyed everything I ate. Food: 4 stars Service/Environment: 4.5 stars Value: 3.5 stars Recommendations: corn, chicken karage, Wagyu beef sando (if on menu as special) The food here is a bit on the expensive side, but for Hong Kong it's pretty much in line with what you would expect. The caramel corn is what is recommended the most often. The dish is quite unique and tastes good but I wouldn't get too carried away and say it's amazing. I also really enjoyed the Wagyu beef sando. It was lightly fried and the meat was a nice medium rare.

I know that sounds exaggerated, but my stomach is very influential upon my moods. The first time we tried to find this restaurant, we got lost and wound up getting there right when it closed. Disheartened, we almost gave up on it since Wan Chai was so far from Sha Tin (4 MTR lines to get there). On the very last day, we decided to try again and I am so glad we did! Despite the fact that we didn't have reservations, the staff very kindly let us dine in one of their private rooms upstairs. The private room was fantastic both for the overall experience and for the kids. Service was very attentive without being intrusive. The wait staff took great care in informing us how to cook and/or eat each item. We ordered 3 lunch sets (3 adults, 2 children). One executive set ($500(?) HKD) including crab tempura, crab shabu shabu, grilled edamame, chuwanmushi, and veggies, one Wagyu set ($150 HKD) including wagyu beef and udon, and one Crab Rice set ($180 HKD) with Matsuba crab / salmon roe and the crab tsukane. Each dish was beautifully presented, incredibly fresh, and oh so tasty. I would highly recommend this restaurant for the food, service, and experience.

You know how one gets the meat sweats? Well...if it were true, I would probably get Crab sweats! ....ew.. Moving on, my friends know what a huge crab fanatic I am so they were so nice to take me to a restaurant that was especially crab focused. This place is absolutely, most definitely, completely, TOTALLY, a heaven for crab lovers like myself. Kanizen is a Japanese restaurant that focuses on the different ways to eat Japanese horse-hair crab and mainly Tabara crab. We chose the pre-fixed dinner for two and it had about 7 courses. Just thinking about this meal has got me salivating at my laptop. (Metaphorically) Once you walk in the dimly lit restaurant, you see a pond with ENORMOUS crabs just chilling. The size of these things are quite shocking. I let my waitress know that I wasn't able to finish the whole thing and she assured me that I can, she was, of course, absolutely right. First came out cold crab meat with UNI and tempura fried egg on top. Heavenly, the egg yolk was runny and ran down my crab meat. The crab meat was sweet and perfect. Next came out the crab legs, which I love. Every course was spectacular. My favourite of all was the crab congee you make or can ask the staff to make for you. It was the perfect ending to my crab meal. I was so satiated and I cannot wait to go back.

They had a really good selection of drinks from Japan. From whiskey to gin to beer to sake, every selection they had went well with the food they served. The dishes were small shareable plates so we just shared everything. Here are some of the standout dishes at our table that pleased everyone: Fried Tofu: They said that the tofu came straight from Japan and was put straight into the fryer. So the nice crispy shell is the tofu itself. It was indeed tasty without any additives. Pork Belly: Simple and grilled to perfection with a slight sear. Flavors of most fatty meat come out nicely and this one was no exception. Fried rice with soft boiled egg: What an interesting take on fried rice... with a Japanese styled soft boiled egg. IMO, you can add that soft boiled egg to almost anything and it would make it better. This was a perfect combo (and also a perfect compliment to the stiff drinks they were serving). Japanese gin: we all know Japanese whiskey is top notch. I had never tried a Japanese gin until this night. Just had it with a touch of tonic and it was really smooth. Give it a shot (pun intended). We tried a bunch of other dishes and all were pretty much spectacular. We liked the vibe and the attentiveness and courtesy of the staff. The entire restaurant was also treated to show where they flame up a fish in a traditional Japanese way (I'm guessing... don't quote me on that). Then they serve the fish to each of the tables. Just a nice touch to add to a delightful eventing of food and drinks. Kanpai!

So happy I stumbled upon this place while walking the mall looking for some food…read more I got into HK late last night and couldn't decide what I wanted to eat. Sushi sounded good so I decided to try my luck. Ordered the 10-piece sushi set and assorted tempura - everything was fresh, great tasting and well portioned. I was really pleased with all my nigiri and the tempura set was very good as well - shrimp, fish, veggies. Not too greasy and delicious! Restaurant was lovely but there was a very drunk couple dining nearby that was super loud and distracting. Otherwise restaurant was full but never too crowded. Overall, still a very delicious meal.

It's a relatively small place, but they've got a great vibe going on - Japanese chefs yelling out, friendly staff telling you what's good to eat, and customers happily consuming their sake. As the restaurant name suggests, they're most famous for their kushikatsu (fried skewers), a specialty from Osaka. Now you're probably worried that you'll be coming into a restaurant filled with fatty oil food, but surprisingly, the fried food isn't that bad at all, they're so tasty and light. My all time favourite is the fried cheese, omg, it's amazzeeeeballllllsssssss I promise!!
