If you're looking for Vera Wang, you probably won't find it here. You can however, settle for her…read moremuch cheaper sister, Fera Wong (just kidding, not a real thing). Chinese knock-offs get a bad rap, but why the hell should you spend CAD $200 on your bridesmaid's dress when she'll only wear it once and it's probably ugly anyway?? Golden Plaza is the place to suppress those wedding budget anxieties with a little strategic spending. Going in for a walk is an experience in itself. Your eyes will get assaulted with all types of colours and sparkles that span 4 floors...and it's overwhelmingly glorious. I've been here on multiple shopping/pick up trips and I will always love coming back. I won't lie, some of the styles are less couture and more your Chinese auntie's version of couture. But look hard and you will find some really exciting stuff at unbelievable prices. Custom ballgown dresses seem to hover around the CAD $500-$1000+ range depending on what you want. You can get simple chiffon/tulle dresses for your wedding party at $60-$100 easily. If you're an online shopper, you might get lucky on Taobao, but I couldn't find exactly what I was looking for and the prices ended up being similar anyway. Talking face to face with the shop owner and being able to pick out colour, style, and material was the way to go. Other than dresses for every occasion at every price point, they've got a million varieties of shoes (customizable), real and fake jewelry, decorations, suits, photo studios, print shops...anything wedding related, they got it. You can't take photos of anything though, so bring a friend for consultation. Customized dresses take a few weeks to complete. We all know anything wedding related is suddenly inflated beyond belief, so places like Golden Plaza are a godsend. You might not want to get a wedding dress here, but what about 5 bridesmaid dresses? Bring in a picture of a $600 Jimmy Choo shoe, lower your quality expectations, and get it done for 1/10 the price. Remember, the essence of Chinese knock-offs is that "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery". And, of course, arguing your way to a bargain! My recommended stores: Lung Fung Night Dressing Co. I am in the midst of planning my upcoming wedding, and now I am trying to hone in on the details…read more During a business trip, I decided to check out some bridal accessories on my day off. I was hoping I could find some "different" styles from what we have in the U.S. I discovered this place on Yahoo, since Google doesn't work that great in China. I sent them an e-mail with the photo of the accessory that I drew me in to this place. I wanted to make an appointment to try it on! Their e-mail response is quick! They gladly responded that they have it in stock and that I can come try it on! If I liked it, I can take it home immediately. I was so excited and couldn't wait to try it in on. Not only was the piece gorgeous, but I was glad that I could cross something off my list if I could really get this piece I was in love with! So . . . they got me through their doors! It's on the 8th floor of a building that has some other random businesses. You enter in their shop, and it's gorgeous. Everything is super clean and chic, unlike the rest of the building. I was a little scared walking in the building, and I was hoping that I found the right place. I was relieved when I got there, and saw a pleasantly beautiful spot. Lots of sparkles and pretty shiny things! I get there, and where the heck is that headband that I wanted to try on? THEY DID NOT HAVE IT!!! If I would have known that, I would not have come. I was livid! They wasted my time to come here for the following reasons: - They didn't have the headband that I wanted to try on, which they feature on their Facebook page by the way! If they don't have that specific one, they need to take it off their page! That's false advertising! - They wouldn't tell me the vendor of the headband. They just kept telling me it was from a private designer from Canada - great, closer to home! Perhaps I can order it on my own directly from the vendor? It would have been much easier for me and faster if I could do that because she told me that it would take 2 months for them to get it to Hong Kong (may be, not guaranteed) - IF they got it in 2 months, I would have to come pay for it in person and pick it up in person! They don't accept payments via phone and they don't ship. WTF?!? So needless to say, they aren't flexible - If I wanted to expedite the shipping to Hong Kong, they asked if I could pay more! That's not my problem, that's their problem. As a business, they should cater to the customer and our needs. 2 months was just NOT acceptable since my wedding is right up around that timeframe - They claim to carry Jennifer Behr accessories, but when I looked up the stockists online, I didn't see any vendors in Hong Kong: http://www.jenniferbehr.com/stockists/# Now the reason why I didn't give them 1 star is because of Dorothy. Dorothy was the one who helped me, and she was super nice! She showed me some headbands and let me try a ton of them on. She also took lots of photographs for me to see how I look in them. This was useful for me to look back and see what I like/don't like. So that's a plus! She was nice and she allowed photographs! I also like how she was, for the most part, honest with me. She told me not to get my heart set on the headband because she doesn't think they can deliver. I can appreciate that! However, the other lady, was such a brown noser and was just trying to "sell" me something, anything... Glad she wasn't the one helping me or I would have left much sooner! If this is the ONLY bridal accessory place for Hong Kong brides, like they claim, then I feel bad for the HK brides. There are places in the U.S. that offer far better customer service and options. The accessories they have here are pretty, but like they said to my face, "your style is much different than the Hong Kong/Asian bride". That's true - it's probably much different from the American bride as well. But that's OK - I know what I like, and I am going to find it elsewhere. I spoke to one of my other friends who is planning her wedding. She stopped by here as well, and she had a similar experience. We both thought the pricing was expensive. It was either the same or more than what we could purchase at home in the U.S.

Very bad experience. Expensive, not customer friendly, not honest! They will first tell you some…read morecheaper price, after you have decided to buy things, there are tons of extra cost! They specialise in tuxedo and wedding attire, but to be honest, I would probably only use them for such a special occasion if I were getting a bunch of matching bespoke groomsmen's suits. But not wanting to focus on any sort of negative, I do like them for their speed, simplicity and low cost. They make suits fast, and could turn something around in 24-48 hours. I have never needed it so fast, so get mine made in a leisurely 4 days. However, I have been in the shop with a visiting tourist as they ordered and measured, whilst booking a second fitting for 4 hours later, in their hotel room, for final delivery 8am the following day. Not bad! When I say simplicity, I mean that you are best going into this store with a set idea of what you want. Sure, the tailor is skilled, and will cut here and cinch there, but I would be wary of asking too much advice on style. If you ask about trouser pleats, collar widths, or button holes, the response is usually, "whatever sir wants". Consider these guys good at copying your favourite suit, whether real or in a photo, and making it fit well. The cost is reasonably low, and this is probably due to the lower quality of the fabrics. I do find their light weight fabrics a bit polyester feeling, and once the fake silk lining has been added, I don't think it's lightweight and breathable anymore, but then you get what you pay for. Pay more you get better fabric. The tailoring costs are the same. A typical three pieces would set you back around HKD3500-4000, which for a tailored suit is relatively cheap. There are a number of stores, but I would recommend the one in Wan Chai. It is a bit small, and if there are other customers, you do start doing the fitting dance around each other, but I do find the tailor here good. The last manager I dealt with (who has now moved to another branch) was a bit of a pain in the proverbial, because he would start dealing with another customer whilst half way through your fitting, but this is fairly typical in HK, where there seems to be a fear of losing a sale if you don't engage immediately. If you want a cheap(ish) tailor made suit, definitely gives these guys a whirl. You won't be blown away, but they are good enough for the cost
