You can select from 1 hour or 90 minutes and within this time frame you can order as much meat as you want. They have several grades of beef, we opted for the Supreme Japanese Wagyu beef. You have the choice of 7 different kinds of soups and with 4 persons you will get 2 pots for cooking. The meat is freshly sliced and brought to the table. For the condiments, sauces, vegetables, noodles, different meat / fish balls there is a buffet table. The star of course is the beef and it really is very good. It is sliced thinly enough, it is juicy, tender and almost melts in your mouth. If you're not full after all this beef, you can have different flavors of Haagen Dazs ice cream, which is included in the price. Service in general is efficient and quite friendly. If you go for the 90 minutes Supreme Wagyu course it will set you back HK$ 319 per person. Children to a certain height eat at 50% of the adult price. Given the quality of the beef, it is good value for money.

I recently had the chance to try this place on the recommendation of my cousin and was glad I did. As mentioned, they only have about 5-6 items you can mix and match for your meal. I got the hamburger steak with demiglace sauce which was fantastic along with a perfectly done omurice and a good cream chicken. Will have to return next time I am in Hong Kong to try the tomato beef.

I've decided to divulge into the vegetarian side and ordered the mixed pot of veggies. Whatever it's called. When it arrives it's still bubbling in it's beautiful clay pot. I can say I don't care too much for the stringy seaweed laver.. seems like too much of a filler. The woodear mushroom are plentiful as are the two varieties of tofu and baby bok choy. Cooked very very well but so cornstarchily-thick. All the seafood are fresh and well prepared. But if you're ordering the 'single' portion just know it is tiny comparing to western standards but probably just perfect for eastern delicacies. The service is incredibly speedy in order to move the crowd. Reservation is highly recommended otherwise come like five minutes before they open so they can sit you after ten.

We did not have a reservation but we got a table after waiting for less than 5 minutes. Guess we were lucky again since today is a Saturday with the malls and everywhere packed with people. Service was ok, not a 5 star service for sure. We asked the female staff for a glass of iced water, she gave us a glass of water alright but it was piping hot :( Food wise.. 1) pan fried carrot cake - F (too much flour, arrrgghhh) 2) Glutinous rice steamed in lotus leaf - A+ (both the rice and meat inside were savory) 3) Rice noodle roll with BBQ pork - B+ (I ate enough of these to know what is good; rice roll too thick and not soft enough) 4) Steamed shrimp dumplings with mushroom - A (lots of shrimp but still fell short, something is missing) 5) Prawn paste marinated wings - Unknown (Did not try) 6) Xiao Long Bao or steamed pork dumplings - A+ (Not as good as Ding Tai Fong but close enough) 7) BBQ pork bun - A- (not fluffy enough and a lot of fatty meat; Taste Paradise at Ion Orchard Singapore has the best BBQ buns so far) 8) Mango with grapefruit and sago (dessert) - A- (Lei Garden claimed that they were the one that introduced this mango dessert dated back in 1987, if that was indeed true, they are falling behind. I had way better of this dessert elsewhere.) If I ever visit Hong Kong in future, will I return to Lei Garden? Definitely not. Started off with their special honey BBQ Pork which was quite tender. I've had more flavorful BBQ Pork. Moved on to their XLB which were okay. Din Tai Fung or even Paradise Dynasty have a better one. The rice noodle crepe with crispy prawns was a good pick. The rice noodles weren't super thick and the crispy prawns provided a good contrast. Their black pepper beef short ribs were decent, same with their XO Sauce Seafood Fried Rice in a clay pot. The highlight of the meal was the mango pomelo Sago which had a robust mango flavor that wasn't too sweet. Definitely a must try! Restaurant was comfortable to sit in and we did have to wait 30 minutes for a table, despite arriving at 1:30 pm. Staff was professional in their demeanor and appearance.

That…read moresaid, there was also nothing in the cuisine to even remotely justify the 2 Michelin stars this place garnered. On the atmosphere, the restaurant was undoubtedly lavish with beautifully laid out tables, dishware, etc. Service was, like Golden Leaf, quite good though nothing exemplary. And the dim sum, the sum total of the many dishes sampled was lackluster given the accolades. Baked cha siu bao, siu mai, har gao, rice rolls...all good enough and honestly just at the level of a good, affordable restaurant in the Bay Area. The goon tong gao was actually outright disappointing as the meat inside was bland and dry. The one saving grace turned out to be some tasty hot Chinese herbal jelly, a preparation I've not seen at all in the US so far. For anyone with at least a decent amount of experience eating dim sum, I'd save your money and go elsewhere unless you're truly curious.

If you're ever in the area or even just in Hong Kong, you should definitely try out this cart…read morenoodle. While the states have a few places have cart noodle, it is VERY different and taste drastically different. There is always a wait here, so make sure you plan ahead. First off, cart noodle originated from Hong Kong for the day to day workers looking for something good, quick, and affordable. Thus, the toppings are usually very simple, but this place definitely gave it some upgrades. You might need a friend that speaks some cantonese or it'll be a little difficult. Once you get to your turn, the lady #1 will ask what type of noodle you want. Then you stare at your bowl until lady #2 picks it up to ask you what toppings. If you don't speak cantonese, you can just point, but keep an open mind on what you pointed lol. Then, lady #3 will calculate the cost and ask you if you want the final condiments, such as spice, scallions, etc. Once you pay, they will drop off your bowl at whatever seat is open. Because the place is so small, be prepared to be sharing tables with people, it's a common courtesy. Enjoy!

Even thought, they are trying to sell their "health conscious" image, I also see that their menu carries deep fried items just to keep everyone happy, of course even if you are health conscious, your dinning companion may not be! I tried their Whole Fish Combo Menu today, I ordered a Whole Yellow Croaker with a bowl of Rice Noodles in spicy soup, D ordered a Satay Noodle Soup combo that comes with a single drumette with fries. Weird combination but strangely it all worked out! My Fish combo was also done pretty well considering I get a whole Yellow Croaker that is fairly sized, it was fried with a bit of crispness outside and very tender and still juicy inside, I know that for this price point the fish has to be frozen but still it was flavourful. All in all, this is a great casual eatery for families and single dinners that do not want to cook after a long day at work, or for us that is too lazy to cook and want something that is slightly more healthy.
